After going to Rasa Rasa's restaurant in the Mission, I knew I had to try the og food truck when I was in Mission Bay recently. The food truck is parked inside Spark Social SF, a permanent food truck area with plenty of seating. I ended up getting the Fried Turmeric Chicken platter which is my favorite dish and it came with jackfruit curry, veggies, and an egg. The chicken is super crispy on the outside but I found this to be a bit dry given how hard it is fried. I absolutely love the spicy sambal they serve on the side which adds a great kick to the chicken. The curry, egg and veggies really round out the meal and the shrimp chips on the side are a great treat! I could barely finish the plate so I ended up saving the shrimps chips for later.

Food was amazing! The beef rengdeng and chicken satay are what we ordered. The amount of food for the price is generous also.

The food is really good and I highly recommend the Pempek and Soto. This place is authentic Indonesian food and the food is amazing!! Customer service is excellent as well and the owners are so friendly!

One of the things I love about SF is its diverse food scene. Who would've thought that you could find authentic Indonesian food out of a food truck--and at an affordable price at that? Rasa Rasa, located inside SPARK Garden, is just the place to check out! The Beef Rendang Platter came with a rich, unctuous beef stew made with coconut milk and spices, served alongside rice, curry jackfruit, sautéed greens, a deep-fried boiled egg, prawn crackers, and spicy Sambal paste on the side. This platter featured a perfect balance of components--the rich, fatty, curried beef was offset by the earthy greens, while the jackfruit provided a textural contrast, and the prawn crackers added a nice crunch. I also got the Gado Gado, a vibrant, colorful salad with a variety of crunchy vegetables (both raw and cooked), including green & red cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, collard greens, and cucumbers, topped with tofu, tempeh, peanuts, and prawn crackers. But the best part of this salad was definitely the earthy, crunchy, creamy peanut sauce, which brought all the components together! Overall, this food truck presented a fantastic variety of Indonesian flavors, and the service was super friendly too!

This is one of the best permanent vendors at Spark Social! For starters, the fried chicken wings was some of the luckiest I've had and everything was made to order. The beef rendang tasted so flavorful and spiceful, and even came with shrimp chips and cooked jackfruit in a coconut sauce! The portion was also substantial and I saved the rest for lunch the next day. The prices aren't bad at all considering the portion and quality of food! I will be coming here more often when I'm at Spark Social!

I never had Indonesian food before and upon trying the Beef Rendang, I know I will be trying more! I'm familiar with alot of Southeast Asian cuisines so I had an idea of what the flavor profiles would be, but I was pleasantly surprised by the combination of food. The curried jackfruit arguably was as good as the beef, and the egg was cooked perfectly as well! Whenever I'm at the Spark Social area, I try to hit up Rasa Rasa unless they're closed.

Consistently delicious food at this Spark Sf food truck staple! Whenever it's cold outside I love getting their noodle soup to warm me up. The flavors are so rich. The turmeric chicken was really tender, and I loved that there were leafy greens on the side. The sauce is so good over the chicken too! It's usually not busy here, so ordering and receiving my food is so fast. The food is packed up nicely so nothing spills when I'm carrying it from the truck to my table. The puffed shrimp chips on the side are a great crunchy snack too!

Indonesian restaurants are a unicorn in SF. And, soon we're going to need these unicorns to fly us places because these gas prices are no joke! My co-worker's friend was a chef at Borobudur (last Indonesian restaurant in SF). After Borobudur permanently closed, as a side hustle, her friend would cook and deliver Indonesian meals to us at work. Since COVID, my co-worker moved back to Indonesia so no more Indonesian food for us. =( Being one of the most highly rated food trucks at SPARK Social/Parklab Gardens, I had high hopes for Rasa Rasa, an Indonesian/SE Asian food truck. Sadly, we didn't have the same experience as other raving reviews. Rasa Rasa is located in the Parklab Gardens next to Hookt Doughnuts. They're offering takeout, delivery (3rd party apps), and there's plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy your meal at. M E N U Apps, rice platters, and soups/noodle soups. There's also some fusion items like SE Asian taco wraps and burritos. Everything is reasonably priced at less than $14. Very vegan friendly. F O O D * Hot Wings ($10): https://bit.ly/3tCx05d I was hoping for some distinctive SE Asian spices but these tasted like plain fried wings (not spicy) served with sweet chili sauce. * Beef Rendang Rice Platter w/ curry jackfruit, sautéed greens, egg, rice, crackers ($14): https://bit.ly/3KocJaf Starting with the positive, I liked the thoughtful presentation with everything in their own little section and with garnishes. Sadly, half of the components were dried out. I visited before 5 pm, not before closing so not sure what happened. --Beef Rendang: While a dry, non-saucy curry, the beef itself was tough, dry, and stringy. Nice warming spices, though some may find it's toned down for the American palate. --Curry Jackfruit: Tender and meaty, lightly spiced. Best part of the platter and it was vegan! --Sautéed greens: Tender, slightly bitter with a bite. --Egg: Dried out. --Rice: Dried out. --Crackers: Light and crispy, reminds me of shrimp chips. S E R V I C E Friendly and fast. Food was ready in less than 5 minutes. Overall, while it was an underwhelming meal, I probably visited on an off day. I'm down to give Rasa Rasa another try when I'm at SPARK Social/Parklab Gardens again and hope to have a better experience next time.

    Shrimp Laksa Noodle Soup
    Tiffany T.

I LOVE their Shrimp Laksa Noodle Soup! I love southeast Asian food, and this place executes it very well! Their shrimp is so fresh, and they give you a decent amount of it! The broth is so flavorful and tasty. The price is also very reasonable. Whenever I come to Spark Social SF, I feel like I should try new food trucks, but I always come back to this one and order the same thing because it's so good :)) It is food truck food, but restaurant quality Imo the best food truck in mission bay

    Matthew L.

Yum! I love me some laksa. I used to go to Lime Tree for their Laksa and thought it was the bomb, until I went on a trip to Singapore a few years back. Then I realized I knew laksa all wrong. Hadn't found a place that made a good laksa in the Bay since then... Until I came across Rasa Rasa! Whenever I'm at Spark, I got to get a bowl of laksa! The laksa here is much similar to what I've had in SE Asia. Spicy, a little tangy, a little creamy, with bright seafood flavors! Wish the portions were a little bit bigger, as the bowl of laksa despite being really delicious is somewhat small for what you get. I've also had the beef rendang tacos which were really great! Usually I get that as an appetizer to complete my laksa meal so I'm contently full. But the main star is the laksa IMO. With the lack of Indonesian/Malay restaurants in the Bay, Rasa Rasa is a welcome addition to the food scene here. Terima kasih!

    Mushroom rendang
    Sydney J.

I came to the ParkLab and Spark Social food trucks with some friends for a Sunday dinner and ordered a mushroom rendang. The greens were rather bitter, the jackfruit was okay (only slightly spicy), and the mushrooms were the best part since they were more juicy and savory. The fried tofu was pretty good too, would've liked a few more pieces of it though. The food also came with a small amount of some kind of chips/crisps. Overall the food was decent but I felt like it was a little on the expensive side relative to how filling it was (I finished it all off though I'm typically someone who eats smaller portions than a standard restaurant meal).

    Alice K.

Food truck at ParkLab Gardens. Beef rendang (food truck guy told me it was the most popular item on the menu): smells amazing, flavorful, crispy fish chips, but beef was a bit tough and dry. Wished there was brown rice option.

Definitely a must try experience!! Will definitely come here again at our next visit to SF!

Have you ever experienced something that while it was happening, you already wish it could be for…read morethe first time again? Filipino-Japanese fusion has been a tried and true combination, including my boyfriend and I's relationship (ba dum tss). However, Ox and Tiger have MASTERED the fusion aspect. Ox and Tiger is an intimate dining experience, with 8 seats, and gorgeous plating, menu, and cute chopstick rests! Comes with 3 courses with an additional 4th add-on. They also have a drinking menu, and they noted that the menu changes every 2 months (every even month!) EJ is such a wonderful story teller, and Hitomi (who created the menu for the month of May) had a great twist on everyday classics in Japanese cuisine. As the dishes were prepared and presented, EJ would tell the backstory on the dish(es), a personal note about each, and Hitomi's take on it to sweeten the deal. As soon as the experience starts, EJ tells us that the doors will be locked to prevent any distractions from outside (aka if you're late, you're outta luck), but we were encouraged to go outside for air if necessary. (I tried taking these notes on the food while EJ was talking about each dish so bear with me). ESL lunch The backstory was that Hitomi loved caesar salad while going to school in America, so she created a "perfect bite" with a Japanese twist to it. The word "gomoku" literally translates to "5 ingredients," to which I was only able to remember 2 of 5 of the vegetables, which were snappeas and roasted beets, with quinoa and tinapa (smoked fish). The fish that was used wae a cured Spanish makerel. T.A.M.M.Y I wish I remembered the words for this, but this is actually Hitomi's English name when she moved to the states. The acronym aspect was for the class at the time to think of ways to learn to like their name (each letter was a positive attribute and I can't remember what EJ said). The backstory to this was that Hitomi, being born and raised in Japan, was actually the biggest fan of California roll - did not like traditional sushi (or raw fish for that matter). - T.A.M.M.Y. is Hitomi's take on that. This was monk fish, with the fish scraps dipped into dashi sauce and kyuri (Japanese cucumber). In other words, no part of the fish was wasted in the making of this dish (in true Japanese AND Filipino fashion). This also had pinipig (granola-like topping glazed in shoyu) [Shoyu = soy sauce] Omiotsuke Now this is where I was blown away. First of all, I did not know what the hell this word was in English, but I watched every part of this dish being prepared and was even more confused when it was presented as dessert. When EJ started explaining, it made all the sense in the world. There is a tofu skin roll, vanilla ice cream, a mushroom topping, cherry miso compote concoction (this is where I butchered the exact creation - this is where the flavor was distracting me from what it actually was). Did you notice the ingredients? What is one thing one will eat at any Japanese restaurant, almost as a courtesy/complimentary item? Omiotsuke is, as polite as one could possibly say, is miso soup. This is Hitomi's take on miso soup, the flavor was spot on. I never thought to pair dashi-like flavors with ice cream (there is already shoyu with vanilla ice cream, but this was a flavor sensation). EJ was so kind when my boyfriend and I admitted we came for an anniversary, and we even got to see his reaction when we said we were also Japanese/Filipino (I'm also an Ox, but no Tigers here). They took this lovely photo of us to commemorate the evening, which sits on our fridge to this day. Again, gochiso-salamat :) to EJ and staff! We hope to come back soon.

Everything about the ordering process and the quality of the food itself was good but not great. There was no wow factor or anything that left me feeling extra motivated to return, but I also wouldn't be opposed if I were nearby and craving onigiri. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.

This cozy spot mainly focuses on katsu plates, but I like how they had off menu or specials to choose from if you'd like another option. I will say though them katsu plates were just chef's kiss. The meat is pounded thin enough where it's still juicy and tender, but doesn't affect the exterior from being crunchy and a bit flaky. Nothing was dry here yallll! I also like how it already comes with miso soup and salad. Huge fan of that Hamachi Truffle special though. Think of a citrusy flavor from the ponzu, fresh fish, a bit of micro greens, and a thin slice of jalapeño that just ~works~ on a cute wooden spoon that you want to steal I could honestly eat like 5 spoons of this. The steak sandwich was absolutely phenomenal, with the steak seasoned and cooked to perfection and pairing beautifully with the charred onion aioli, plus a side of expertly crisped smashed potatoes that were so addicting. The steamed mussels were sumptuous and packed with umami, and I loved the two large bricks of toasted sourdough focaccia that were perfect for sopping up every last bit of the delicious dashi broth. But the pièce de résistance was the custard French toast, which I can only describe as the love child of bread pudding and tres leches cake as it was crispy on the outside but uber moist on the inside, custardy, and simply divine. Most Yelp reviews only mention brunch but the dinner was awesome--service; food: taste/quality, presentation, portions, prices we phenomenally low for SF ($200 with a bottle of wine for 4 people). We started with the garlic butter clams-small but tasty. Tuna tartar was excellent quality and enough to share. Samosas were more like empanadas--very good with peanut sauce so good it rivaled my own home made. We continued our culinary adventure with crab fried rice-delicious, a large portion and my son who lives in SF and has tried dozens of crab fried rice ranked it in the top tier. The pacific catch rice noodles with crab was also excellent-big portion, lots of crab, tasty. Final entree was their specialty-Mussaman Curry. Wow, tender meat/potatoe "stew" with a very unique flavor from the star anise/cinnamon and peanut--to die for. Creme Brulee was very good with lots of fresh fruit accompaniment My only complaint was a very limited wine selection. Lapisaia will become one of our regular spots for dinner!!!

Well, I decided to look for something different than my usual favorite food and I decided to go to try some Cambodian food and I picked this lovely little spot in Ocean Avenue, so far away from my house. It was my lucky day, the food was delicious, fresh and made from scratch with a glass of great white wine and , SO IMPORTANT to me a lovely service, starting with a warm welcome smile from the owner and then with the outstanding kind service at my table from the young gentleman named (I think) Ethan. Now this little gem became one of my destinations. Great job beautiful people at Megan's Table!

They have MVs projecting on the wall too so that adds to the noise. As for the food, everything is great! The pajeon is flavorful, light and crispy. It had a lot of kimchi so that was yum. The army stew was not too salty and warmed us up! The soy garlic chicken was not overly sweet and was crispy too. The spicy pork was good but there were a few pieces that was chewy. It wasn't that spicy though but it still tasted good. The creamy pasta and tteok was good too and lived up to its name. I did find that the tteok was chewier than normally, but my partner said it was fine so to each their own. Will probably come back for a third visit!

We stepped inside to put our names on the list. While we waited outside we checked out their menu, which was conveniently displayed on their window. The dishes sounded great and it helped us decide what to order before we were even seated. The restaurant was on the smaller side, so seating was a tad cramped, but overall it felt cozy. They had a cute neon light with their name. We got a couple appetizers, which included the pan fried dumplings and tteokbokki. I ordered the Spicy Japchae for my main dish. They brought the banchan out pretty quickly, which we all devoured in seconds because we were so hungry. Then our main dishes started coming out of the kitchen. My spicy japchae was just the right amount of heat. Spicy enough to still be enjoyable. While eating our main dishes the pan fried dumplings came out, which was odd since we ordered it as an appetizer. And the tteokbokki we had ordered, never was added to our order by our waiter. After being told that by another waiter, we just decided to cancel it. The meal was pretty filling without feeling too heavy. Overall, it was decent.

They have packed in as many tables as they could in here. Yet it didn't feel crowded or like we would bump someone if we breathed. The food. That's what it's all about right? This place delivers. Every thing was as good as the last. They have a pretty extensive menu I wanted to try it all. Sadly I had to settle for Hot and Sour Soup, Wonton soup, Pork Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, Chicken Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, (8Pcs) Pork Dumpling with Sesame Sauce and Red Chili Oil (6Pcs), Numb & spicy pork Bao, Green Onion Pancake, (Sweet) Red Bean Paste Pockets. We had it family style. The 3 of us shared it all. There was plenty to go around. None of us left hungry. I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe the numb and spicy which wasn't that spicy. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. It wasn't listed on the menu and we have never had seaweed in any other wonton soup so didn't know to ask if it could be left out. That was sad. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.
