No prices on the menu but seems tacos are ~$3-4 from other reviews. We ordered a torta asada ($14) and alambre pastor ($19) to try. Food comes out quick! Alambre pastor - they're obviously known for their tacos Al pastor but wanted something a little more portable and would keep for home. It was big enough for dinner for 2 but we needed a lot more tortillas! Couldn't possibly wrap that massive pile of meat in 6 (double thick but impossible to separate) taco-size tortillas. Very flavorful, though wish there was pineapple (or more - I didn't find it). They gave good amount of onions and cilantro to top, and salsas upon request. Enjoyed them all! The limes were dry. Torta asada - not a torta connoisseur by any means but would not recommend. The asada was so chopped I wasn't sure if I was eating ground beef. Was pretty flavorless and needed ample salsa with every bite. The avocado and cheese were nice inclusions and think there were some beans but overall torta fillings seemed unseasoned and light. Probably not gonna fill you up, even with all that bread.

Will not come back ever again. Shame because it's in a great location right next to the beach. I think it could have been the toppings? Leo's is a no-frills taco truck that keeps the focus on flavor. Special shoutout to the al pastor with pineapple -- tender, well-seasoned pork with those sweet, caramelized bites that make it hard to order just one. If you get the vampira make sure to eat it right away when it's still hot and crunchy don't wait like me it was cold and it becomes tough to eat. Toppings like salsa, onion, cilantro, and radish are provided on the side so you can build it your way. The setup is exactly what you'd expect from a solid neighborhood food truck: straightforward, efficient, and focused on flavor over flash. Service was quick and friendly, even during a busy stretch. It's the kind of spot you hit when you're craving something comforting and authentic without the sit-down restaurant fuss. Fast service, fair prices, and a great location right across from Ocean Beach in the parking lot next to Motel 6. Perfect post-beach taco stop.
While walking to the ocean beach, I noticed a food truck with a long line of people, so after seeing the great reviews, I decided to give it a try. You need to place your order at the passenger-side window of the truck. If no one is there, just stay in line, as someone will come by to take orders. After ordering, wait until they call your order number. When picking up the food, they ask which sauces you want. Since it was my first visit, I chose all four, one of each. The tacos came with chicken since I ordered Chicken tacos. I topped it up with onions, radishes, and lime juice. The chicken was excellent, and paired with the sauces, the tacos were delicious. My favorite was the dark red sauce, very spicy and full of flavor. The french fries were just okay. Overall, these were some of the best tacos I've had, especially for the price 3$ each, small french fries cost was 4$.
I originally wanted to try this taco truck during a weekday lunch time, but when I arrived at 12:15PM when their opening time was stated to be 12PM on multiple websites, the truck was not there yet. Luckily, I had the opportunity to try recently on a weekday night. I got four tacos and three different cuts of meat. My friend was able to try their California burrito, which had a good mix and satisfied her craving for the night. Cabeza: It was pretty good, but not a standout. Lengua: It was tender, but not as flavorful as I had hoped. Al Pastor: This was my favorite, and better than most places I've tried! The Al Pastor was super flavorful, nicely seasoned, tender, and juicy. For around $3 per taco, I will be coming again to get more Al Pastor tacos!
I was ecstatic to hear that Leo's was being brought up to SF from LA. I have no idea why it took so long for me to try them, but I finally got to on a beautifully sunny Sunday! The truck is located in a parking lot right by Ocean Beach once you exit Golden Gate Park, so it's very easy to get to. We ordered Al Pastor and Chicken Tacos. I LOVE Leo's al pastor--it's one of my absolute favorites. The meat is so juicy and flavorful, and the pineapple is really just the cherry on top. I also love all of their salsas. The price is reasonable, and the portions are decent. This truck really made me reminisce about the taco stands in LA, and biting into it felt so nostalgic. It's a great bite to eat after a stroll through the park or day at the beach! I highly recommend trying them.
I loveee Leo's. I heard about this place from a friend and went here on a Friday night. It's a food truck in a motel 6 parking lot. They have a lot of variety ranging from quesadillas, vampiros, tortas, tacos, etc. I especially love that they have so many different cuts of meat that are harder to find like cabeza, lengua, suadero, buche, etc. I definitely recommend the buche or suadero. Their speciality is the al pastor and you can get it dorado style (crispy) as well and it's well worth it. They also give you a bunch of sauces, onions, like, peppers, etc. My fav is the orange one and avocado salsa. The orange and chipotle one are def spicy so proceed w/ caution! It's about $3/taco, but I think it's worth it. I will be returning when I'm back in Ocean Beach :)
Tried a few different things when I came here for the first time, and when I come back again I'm going all in on the al pastor tacos. The service is pretty standard, you order and then you wait for your food. The al pastor is seasoned well, crispy, and they give a good portion. Tried the lengua and asada and those were a little dry, probably wouldn't get those again. Also got the alambre hawaiano which I had never heard of, but it was essentially a pile of meat, peppers, pineapple, onion, and ham. Comes with a stack of taco shells for you to assemble yourself, which is quite messy if you're trying to eat by the ocean. I would get it again to bring back home.
Standing and eating tacos by the ocean while watching the sun set is a new core SF experience for me. Leo's always has a long line and for good reason -- everything is solid and prices seem reasonable (despite there being no listed prices on their truck). - Fresa Agua Fresca: Like a strawberry milk, if that's what you're craving. - Tacos: Seems like they specialize in al pastor. Both al pastor and carne asada were delicious and must be paired with the generous portions of onion and cilantro and lime that they provide! - Al Pastor Nachos: A heaping portion for what I'm guessing was $10-$15. I think the al pastor tasted more like bacon in this compared to what I tasted on the tacos, for some reason. Nacho chips are fried and crispy. They provide tons of sauce and it's fun to try all the combinations. Will definitely be back, regardless of how long the line is!
Leo's AL PASTOR NEVERRRR DISAPPOINT! The thinly sliced pieces, yummmm! Especially with the added pineapple on each tacos, top tier! Glad to say that this is our go to Taco Truck! (Don't ever leave! ;)) Let's not forget the sauce options! Our fave is their habanero and cilantro-avocado sauces! So so so delicious! Pairing our food with a pineapple fresca, periodt. (Happy they're not stingy with their sauces like other taquerias) Let's not forget the amazing customer service! Perfect location, with plenty of parking spaces/street parking. For the locals like myself, it's an easy walk from Lone Mountain to the truck ;) Such a treat after a nice walk. Delicious food with an ocean view?! Hell yeah :) Bon appetite!
The Leo's taco spot sits right off Highway 1 near Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach, next to a Motel 6, so the setting isn't the most inviting. The line was a bit long when I went, but the food came out fairly quickly once I ordered. I tried the carnitas, asada, and al pastor tacos. The carnitas was tasty, asada was tender and juicy, and the al pastor had good flavor with a nice touch of pineapple. They provided 3 bags full of onion and cilantro, and there are four different salsas to choose from, ranging from mild to spicy, which was a plus. Overall, the tacos were tasty, but the location and atmosphere left something to be desired.
Was looking for a place that did lengua tacos and this place came up. 3 dollars for al pastor tacos and 4 dollars for the lengua. It was so good. The spicy sweetness of the habanero salsa is amazing. My new go to when I have a taco craving. read more
What's better than the ocean/beach and tacos?!? I've been a super fan of Leo's tacos since my LA days, and when Leo brought one of his food trucks up to the Bay Area, it was inevitable that I would try out the tacos! The Leo's taco truck literally is located in San Francisco/Ocean Beach with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Leo's taco trucks are known in Southern California as THE taco truck for reasonably priced street tacos, that are beyond delicious. The experience at the San Francisco/Ocean Beach taco truck was great. For the most part it mirrors the LA experience, which is exactly what I wanted. It's like having a piece of home. Menu prices are nonexistent so there's no way to determine exactly what you're going to be charged. I ordered two Al pastor tacos, and was charged seven dollars which included tax. I really like that they always include a piece of pineapple with the Al Pastor. The tacos were absolutely yummy. The meat was flavorful, but definitely not as juicy as the LA version. Plus, they don't seem to be as generous with meat at this location as they are in LA. The talk of themselves are not the traditional small street tacos, and yet they're smaller than the traditional sized tacos. They do provide bagged condiments that include sauces and radish. I was super hesitant to try them because of some of the other reviews. Tasty tacos, and if you've ever been to Leo's, and you, in this part of the Bay Area, it's definitely worth a stop. read more

Great tacos for a good price! And super conveniently located right by the beach. Came here on a Tuesday and super hot day, so it was packed! Waited in total about 35-40mins for both ordering and getting my tacos. They're known for their al pastor so got two al pastor tacos ($3 each) and one lengua taco ($4 each). The al pastor had good flavor but was a bit dry. The lengua was prefect though, has a good chew to it and great flavor. We ordered the tacos to go so they separated out the tacos and cilantro mix so it wouldn't get too soggy. read more

Perfectly grilled, well-seasoned meat with great flavor in every bite. The staff is super friendly, and the food truck itself is nice and well lit, which makes it easy to spot and adds to the overall vibe. Solid spot I'd definitely come back to. read more

"Spectacular give me 14 (tacos) right now!" We tried their tacos (al pastor), carna asada fries, Gordita, tostado, and pina agua Fresca -- all of this for $49, kinda pricey! Asada fries - $15, DELICIOUS! My fave dish here Tacos - $6 for 2. Also delicious. Love the simplicity Gordita - $8.50, it was ok Tostada- $9, it was ok Pina Agua Fresca - $6, tasty but too sweet Next time I will just get tacos and carne asada fries! read more

A solid spot for tacos in the sunset! Heard from a friend this truck is from LA so was excited to try it. No wait on a weekday at 1:30pm which is a plus! We had the taco's al pastor-- it was juicy and flavorful. I really liked the pineapple added because it adds a nice acidity. The cabeza was super tender but not as flavorful as I was hoping. The quesadilla Hawaiana was super stuffed! It had the al pastor meat, ham, and pineapples. Interesting combo.. next time I'd get the quesadilla al pastor. Super fast service. Expect to stand at their metal tables or take it to the beach to enjoy! read more

Leo's Tacos has some of the best al pastor I've had in the Bay Area. The meat is incredibly flavorful, and the addition of pineapple balances everything perfectly with just the right amount of sweetness & acidity. Their pineapple agua fresca is also fantastic. It's refreshing, well balanced, and pairs perfectly with the tacos. The staff is also very friendly, which makes the overall experience even better. One thing to note though is that when they just open and it's really busy, they'll sometimes cook the al pastor on the grill instead of cutting from the trompo (the traditional spinning vertical spit). Personally, I don't love that since the trompo is part of what gives al pastor its signature texture and flavor. The only reason I'm taking off one star is because they've been late opening the last three times I've gone. A short delay like 10 to 15 minutes is understandable since traffic and setup happen, but waiting nearly 50 minutes like today (3/8) is tough if you're trying to be mindful of your time. It would be great if they posted updates on social media when they're running late so people know what to expect. Still definitely worth checking out if you love great al pastor! read more

Well that didn't go as expected. I heard really great things about this truck, coming from LA, etc etc. We finally were in the area and decided to stop by and try a taco! YOLO. Usually there's a line, but it was okay this time. We ordered 2 al pastor tacos and 2 carne asada burritos for dinner. Tacos-.....the al pastor were like sliced cha siu. LOL sure they're pretty generous with toppings and salsa....but it was MEH. Burritos - they were okay, nothing to be wowed about. So we were disappointed, and glad we tried it, but there are better places around for sure. read more
Finally they are in SF! I loved their tacos in LA. Abundant free parking around where they parked. Hit or miss about the parking lot they are in honestly as some reviewers said they were told to move but I saw a few people park in the lot haha. The menu- English names/associations on the left and the right column is the Spanish name haha. I liked my Al pastor taco with the good pineapple chunk. The piña/pineapple drink was very tasty too! Good amount of salsa, cilantro, lime, radish and grilled jalapeños/onions! This truck had their little metal shelves set up as tables around the truck- which was very nice! read more

Yum yum yum! Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican tacos. Located on Great Highway. Perfect place to stop to get food and go to the beach or to the park. We ordered (2) asada tacos and (2) al pastor. Both were amazing but we loved the Al pastor tacos -- so flavorful and the thinly sliced pineapple was just the cherry on top. Really looking forward to going back and ordering more on the menu! read more
I'm so glad this LA based taco truck finally expanded to SF! Leo's is known for its al pastor tacos, which did not disappoint. I also tried a carne asada quesadilla here. The carne asada was tasty but not as flavorful as the al pastor. I'll probably go with all al pastor items next time. This is now my favorite spot for al pastor in the city. Since this is a food truck, all orders are put into to-go boxes and bagged. You also get tons of different salsas, onions and cilantro, radishes, and lime in your to-go bag. The only downside about this place is the location. Not only is this located so far out in the Outer Sunset, but there's also not really any place to sit down and eat. So we just sat on the street next to a curb. read more

Flakier than dandruff. The "best" tacos in LA is now in Frisco?! In 2010, four brothers started Leo's Tacos (truck) in LA and has grown to 12 locations across the city of angels. Their SF location is their 13th taco truck, located at Motel 6 (don't park at their lot, an employee will come out and tell you to move your car). LA's most popular taco truck *finally* officially opened in the city yesterday.... They're brand new and things/emergencies happen but they seem very flaky and aren't respectful of customers' time and gas. Another customer told me, she's tried coming 4 times and they weren't there. They seem to arrive and leave when they want to which is fine but at least post on IG so customers aren't left in the dark. Since I had the afternoon off on 4/11 and nothing better to do, we trekked 30 minutes across the city (FYI, Great Highway is closed to cars now so expect traffic). Yay for Leo's Tacos arriving BUT they were over 2 hours late with no heads. And, we had to wait an additional 40 minutes for them to actually open. No outdoor tables for seating. M E N U Specialty: Al Pastor, marinated pork prepared on el trompo (vertical spit). Other proteins: asada, pollo, buche (pig intestine), suadero (like brisket), cabeza (beef head), lengua (beef tongue), carnitas, and tripas (beef intestines). Choose your style: Taco, burrito, quesadilla, tostada, papas (fries), nachos, sope (fried masa base), torta, and more. There are no prices on their menu. The cashier said, tacos are $3 each but charged me $4 each for the lengua and tripas. CC's accepted. T A C O S ($3-$4 each) Each taco comes with double corn tortillas (commercial) and your protein of choice. Diced onions + cilantro provided in a baggie. You can request limes, pickled onions, cucumbers, and radishes. They have salsa roja and salsa verde (avocado based). * Al Pastor: Marinated Pork x4 SO disappointing after the long wait. The al pastor looked and tasted like it was cooked a la plancha, not on el trompo. Dry and bland with no crispy caramelized edges. It wasn't even topped with pineapple. These look nothing like the ones in LA. Good thing Al Pastor Papi is opening their first brick and mortar this summer in the city! * Cabeza: Beef head Beefy and soft but bland. * Lengua: Beef tongue Decent but also bland. I prefer my lengua meltingly tender. * Tripas: Beef intestines The intestinal tubes were gritty and chewy/soggy. No crispy bits. * Asada: Beef - Didn't try. * Carnitas: Braised Pork - Didn't try. S E R V I C E There's one cashier and three guys preparing the food. After ordering, it took 10 minutes for our tacos. P A R K I N G Easy free street parking across Motel 6. Overall, I initially *thought* Leo's Tacos would be a welcome addition to Outer Sunset since the great Mexican spots are at the other side of the city in The Mission/Outer Mission area (where I live near). I'm trying to give them grace for being new but a 3 hour wait for bland, mid tacos, no/poor communication on IG, being flaky/late, and not even apologizing or thanking customers for waiting hours for them is not cool. The Fabled, The Legendary Leooooooooooooooo's has entered the ring as a top contestador. Arriving from an exotic land full of sun - LA, they have established a solid foothold in the sandy, wind-shredded dunes of the West Side of SF. Sundry visitors converge upon this bright beacon of hope and food as all roads lead to Leo's, well, especially closer to 11 pm when nothing else is open. Then through the chattering teeth from the bitter cold that penetrates the bones and the howling winds tearing through the nearby stands of trees, the lady at the front welcomes me with a bright smile and "hi!" :-) That truck seems cozy as the wolves encircle this truck in search of food. I order a feast fit for heroes who have traversed the treacherous wastelands dotted with construction work, unmarked mounds, ancient potholes, and speed traps, or just sand dunes, for the holy grail of tacos. Your bus or rideshare chauffeur deserves a toast or tip. Indeed, the feast did not disappoint. The al pastor was epic and tender. The burrito was good, and the tacos were excellent for a meal near midnight. They were still super busy at closing time 11 pm and seemed fine with it - whew! Of the other meats, I prefer the carne asada over the suadero. Hmm, it would be nice to have the prices shown on the side of the truck too, but I was able to see it on the order screen. Other than that, the tacos did look exactly as pictured by other customers - a bit smaller than some LA or SD tacos I remember. But overall, it did have the nostalgic taste and feel that was so good for a late night snack in the heart of LA. Okay let's start with location... great with free parking lots of sand and can be windy since it is outside prepare for any weather it's worth it Staff is very nice and welcoming I love their tacos de asada and al pastor great portion and fresh delicious salsa We also order cheesy carne asada fries sooo good with yellow cheese white cheese asada And you can add your choice of salsa Over all 5 stars delicious I can't wait to come back read more

Had to checkout this LA taco truck near the Great Highway! It's right by the motel 6 in a parking lot. There's no seating but the great highway park and Ocean Beach is right there. The menu doesn't have prices but it's very affordable and they accept card/tap payments. They're known for their al pastor so I got some tacos and a torta. The tacos were only $3 each! They have 4 different salsas and give you limes and onions/cilantro in a baggy. The tacos were great, especially for the value. The torta was okay but I wouldn't get it again. I would come back for the tacos and to try a burrito! read more

Came back about a month later for my second visit. Coincidentally, it ended up being on another Thursday. I arrived around 2PM, and there was just one person ahead of me in line. I decided to stick with the Al Pastor burrito since I really liked it the first time and didn't want to risk being disappointed while hungry. Sadly, even with the shorter wait, the burrito didn't hit the same. There was no pineapple like last time to give it that sweet balance, the meat was a lot tougher and no char on the meat. Overall, it just wasn't as enjoyable and satisfying. Pretty disappointing how inconsistent their food is. They should really see who does well in what area of the food truck and stick with it. Also the burrito is now $13, not $12. read more
Good tacos in the outer sunset. I enjoyed the steak tacos WITH the habanero sauce. The habanero sauce added the extra flavor it needed. IMO they don't need to tie the toppings in separate bags, unless asked for. Just put them on the plate like they do in Oakland :) read more
Pluses-late night eats no fuss, I like that! Fresh ingredients, good service. Negative- the meat was dry and I was expecting more flavor. I guess I had high expectations with all the hype. I was expecting way more flavor. I would try another meats ans dishes and dish if I was looking for Kate night eats. read more
We were excited to try Leo's Tacos at Ocean Beach after hearing so much about their LA trucks. Unfortunately, the SF experience left us disappointed. We ordered an al pastor taco, a suadero taco, a carnitas tostada, and an al pastor vampiro. The tacos were small and lightly filled--barely any meat for $3 each. The tostada and vampiro were $9 each but didn't feel worth the price. The carnitas on the tostada lacked flavor and texture, and the vampiro wasn't what we expected--it came sandwiched between two tostadas instead of the usual toasted tortilla with melted cheese. We also suspect the suadero taco wasn't actually suadero; it looked and tasted like pork. The tacos came plain with no fixings like onions or cilantro (though we did receive salsa). We had drove off before checking. The menu didn't have prices or item descriptions, which made ordering confusing. Our receipt was $32.69, but we were charged $33.51 through Apple Pay without explanation. We really wanted to like this spot because of Leo's reputation, but between the small portions, flavor, and execution issues, it fell short. Hopefully they can make improvements, but we wouldn't return based on this visit. read more

We stumbled upon their food truck while at Ocean Beach. Happy to see that Leo's Tacos made its way to the Bay Area, particularly at San Francisco. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! Service was very quick. Of course my boyfriend and I ordered their famous Al pastor tacos. We were impressed. The meat was not tough at all. I ordered 1 carnitas taco which I feel was a bit tough. Overall, would definitely try out this place if I were you! 8.5/10. read more
Got 2 al pastor tacos and they were perfect. Service was very friendly and quick. They gave me a pouch of onions + cilantro and one with grilled onions, I added both on and did not regret it. Love the options of sauces, the avocado and the orange hot sauce were both great. Also they were very reasonably priced at $3 a taco. read more
The truck said "the best tacos al pastor" so of course that's what I got and it didn't disappoint! The pastor was perfectly seasoned and balanced well with a slice of pineapple. They have a good variety of salsas for a truck as well. Perfect stop for a sunny day at the beach and service was pretty quick when I went. read more

Hours are so inconsistent. Opening changed from 11am to 12pm. They arrived a few minutes past opening then took another 20 minutes or so to set up. One day they were an hour late. I like the al pastor the most. First time was kind of dry (2nd day of opening). I got Al pastor, carne asada, chicken and carnitas which were all dry - al pastor being least dry. The carnitas is braised so I was expecting that but it was SO dry. Al pastor was better the next 2 times I went. Partner said carnitas was good the last time she went. Pineapple pieces are sometimes a tiny sliver, barely there. No super burritos but you can add sour cream and avocado for an extra few. Burrito was ok. Sope was good. They're good, but not worth waiting in line for imo. Luckily, there's never that long of a line when I pass by. read more
Walked up to the Leo's Tacos truck, which is in a lot across from the new Sunset Dunes park where the Great Highway was, at around 1pm. There was a short line of about 6 people which moved quickly, and I waited about 10 minutes for my order. They ask if you would like sauce, cilantro/onion, and radishes, and provide them prepacked in your bag with your tacos. -Lengua ($4): my go to taco meat, this was tender but nothing outstanding; the meats are also cut smaller than I'm used to. -Al Pastor ($3): this seems to be their signature, and I always love a bit of pineapple on an al pastor taco but this also didn't really stand out to me. The meat was a tad dry, and not super flavorful. -Cabeza Tacos ($3): this was definitely dry, and I wouldn't get it again. The sauces are all pretty standard: orange is spicy, the red is roasted/spicy, green is mild, and then an avocado based one. The tacos do come out not super hot, and they're a little smaller than I'm used to (in San Diego) as well. I'd say there are definitely better tacos in the city (though probably a bit more expensive per taco), and would probably choose to go elsewhere when I'm craving a taco. read more
Drove past a few times and the truck wasn't there, but took another chance on Sunday evening and they were open! The menu doesn't list prices but the tacos start at $3 depending on the meat you choose. We ordered the al pastor, asada, lengua, and cabeza tacos, plus the asada fries and a pineapple juice. They were sold out of horchata for the day so I'd definitely go earlier if it's something you're looking forward to. Our to-go order came with little baggies of onions, cilantro, limes, pickled onions, radishes, and a variety of sauces. The meats were tasty but a bit on the dry side. The al pastor came with pineapple and was better with all the toppings. The workers are very friendly and the wait time is standard. I would definitely return because it's better than some spots I've had in SF and super convenient since it's close to home. read more
When visiting Ocean beach, you will noticed this taco truck. What caught my attention was the long line. Folks waiting for food and fighting for parking spots. So my assumption is this has to be a good spot. The line can't line! Oh was I wrong. The line completely lied. Maybe I should've trusted my gut when I noticed not one Hispanic person was in line but hey I decided to give it a try. The asada was flavorless, not asada at all. The cabeza was all fat. The pastor was the only edible thing on the menu. The tortillas cold. The salsa was just tomato sauce. Would I come back, nope. There's plenty of great tacos spot in the city and this one is not it. read more
