From MWS' blogs and interview, we could tell they fully understand how to create unique multicultural weddings. One important tip for newly engaged couples - wedding planners don't create the designs of your wedding!! It's the florists' job. So finding a good planner is important because then they'll help you find good vendors, communicate your vision, and make sure everything is executed perfectly on the actual day. We had a BLAST on our wedding day. We knew Sarah's team got our backs, so we weren't stressed at all. I cannot stress enough the importance of the planner's role in your wedding!! They're the project manager. Their leadership and execution will affect your entire wedding and how well your vendors set up everything. The day of the wedding - our hotel venue Pasea hotel promised us that we'd be the only wedding booked on our wedding day. This was promised before we signed with them. On the day of, we realized they double booked another couple's reception without telling us. I actually bumped into the other bride and was very surprised about the whole thing. Sarah talked to the other wedding planner and made sure their music was lowered during our ceremony. everything went smoothly for both parties. 10/10 execution. Another green flag about MWS is that they helped us minimized our budgets. Sarah was real with us lmao. Whenever our ideas went too crazy, she'll hone us back and help find alternatives. Honestly, the wedding coordination service did not feel worth the price we paid. We sourced all of…read moreour own vendors and managed/DIY all of the decoration elements ourselves. The coordinators' involvement was largely limited to basic setup and following the timeline we created together. When issues arose during the wedding, there was a significant lack of communication and problem solving. For example, there were problems with the gate crash games, and the top layer of our wedding cake went missing. As newlyweds, we were not aware that the top layer of the cake is traditionally saved for the first anniversary. Since the coordinators presented themselves as professionals with experience in wedding traditions, we expected them to provide guidance on important customs like this and ensure meaningful details were not overlooked. Instead, no one informed us that the cake layer was missing or explained its significance, and we only found out afterward. Additionally, the coordinators presented themselves as knowledgeable and experienced in Chinese wedding traditions, which was one of the reasons we trusted them. I specifically wanted my family to be present and able to watch the gate crash games. However, everyone was ushered out, leaving me completely alone in the room when my husband arrived to pick me up. This was extremely disappointing, as sharing this tradition with my family was an important part of the experience. The gate crash games also did not go as intended. While my bridesmaids were responsible for carrying out the games, the coordinators should have stepped in when they noticed things were not following the intended format. Given their claimed expertise in Chinese wedding traditions, they should have been able to recognize when the games were not being conducted properly and provide guidance or correction. During the traditional tea ceremony, the positioning was also handled incredibly poorly. We were placed by the photographer in a way that left our backs completely facing the groom's side of the family, meaning his relatives couldn't see a single thing. This is exactly the kind of situation where the coordinator should have spoken up and adjusted the layout, but instead, they stood by and let a deeply meaningful moment be ruined for half of our guests. During speeches, I made it clear everyone was to stand at their seats when giving speeches. Jeannie told one person to stay at her seat but allowed the other two to come onto the stage. Totally not consistent at all! Made that one person look bad for staying at her seat whereas the others went on stage to give their speech. That person at the seat was more important to me than the other two giving speeches! Yet they were not told to stay at their seats and allowed on stage! We also received multiple complaints from our guests regarding the entertainment: * DJ: The music was poorly managed. Every time I left the room for an outfit change, the music stopped completely, which disrupted the flow and atmosphere of the reception. * MC: While the MC was friendly, they did not help create energy or engagement among our guests. We had specifically requested that important announcements and activities be translated into Chinese for our elderly guests. Instead, the reception games were conducted entirely in English. As a result, many of our older guests did not understand what was happening and were unable to participate, leaving only the younger guests involved. Overall, we were extremely disappointed by the lack of communication, oversight, coordination, and cultural consideration. We expected a much higher level of attention to detail, guidance, and support throughout the event.

It doesn't feel like someone just hit play on a Spotify playlist -- he reads the room and keeping the party going with the right songs at the right time. She was so professional and responsive whether it was texting, calling, or email. I live in NYC and was planning a Southern California wedding. She was always available to meet whenever I'd fly into LA, even at the earliest hours of the morning. I initially sought out Lisa because of her fair pricing, but I'd easily pay double for the coordination she provided. From the minute we had an initial phone call, I could tell she was Type A, which is exactly what you need in a coordinator. My gut told me she was perfect for our wedding, and indeed she was! Wedding Lead Up: We had one initial face to face with Lisa where she got to know our needs and our vision. She provided us with super helpful google docs to keep track of decor, guest list, timeline, vendors, etc. As the months of planning progressed, she was CCd on every email with every vendor, and would follow up where necessary. As a type A person myself, I never thought I'd really need my coordinator to do much, but Lisa would always beat me to the punch with following up for missing information or details our venue and vendors had missed. Walk-through: Lisa did a walk-through with us and our venue's coordinator, where she ironed out all of the details of the floor plan and decor, and remembered to ask for things like a full length mirror in our conference room we had to do hair/makeup. Rehearsal: Lisa was great about telling everyone where to go, how to walk properly, and taking pictures for us so we could rearrange people if we needed to. Our bridesmaid was running late but she was able to coordinate with Lisa to find where we were and make it on time. We felt very at ease and ready for the wedding after the rehearsal. Wedding!!!: Lisa and her assistant were wonderful with setting up all of our decor exactly how and where we wanted it, and believe me we had a lot of it! Lisa had the perfect balance of being invisible but also available right when we needed her. She was there to give me a bandaid when my feet blistered, help my grandma with her corsage, and track down random vendors when we needed them, but also stayed behind the scenes a lot. Everyone says a coordinator is there not for if something happens but when something happens. Well, we know of no such happenings because any mishaps were handled 100% by Lisa as we were enjoying ourselves. She had a great balance of keeping us on schedule while still asking if we wanted 5 or 10 more minutes of mingling with friends. At the end of the night she packed up all of our gifts and decor for us, and we didn't have to worry about a thing. The day after our wedding she even sent us tons of pictures and boomerangs she had taken of behind the scenes moments.
