First time eating here, my wife and 19 year old son joined me. Great friendly environment, everyone working was all smiles. We arrived shortly before 10 AM and while my wife and son ordered breakfast, I ordered a burger, but not any burger; I ordered a burger comprised of two grilled cheese sandwiches as the top and bottom bun. The grilled cheese sandwiches had fresh juicy tomatoes and crispy bacon between the bread. The burger was juicy, hot and delicious. I started the four inch tall sandwich with a knife and fork, but finished with my hands. The corned beef hash my son ordered with poached eggs was delicious as well. The corned beef was shredded, not cubed, and the potatoes were fresh cut into small pieces. All were combined on the griddle to give a hash brown crunch to the whole thing. My wifes omelet was delicious as well. Wendy was our server and she was friendly and patient while we decided what to order, and was available to offer refills and pre bus the table as required. Overall four stars. Reminds me of a NJ diner/breakfast shop. Stools and a counter are available to watch the cooks and get that real dinner feel. Two thumbs up. read more

Like the food here but seriously the service is the worst so I will never be returning again. We have gone to this diner alot in the past and honestly the waitresses were never too great they always delivered something wrong or just had the face that they hated their jobs but we let it slide because we just wanted our food and the manager came out and fixed our problems. But I guess over time they have gotten even worse. How they have an area to sit outside (we have eaten in this area in the past) we sat down a waitress came out sat down on a table and played on her phone (must have been on a break) she went in came back out didn't say a word to us. We went in and asked for service and the rude hostess just said oh that area is closed. Nothing else!! Like hello you don't like to make money? Its 1 foot away from the inside door you can't just accommodate based on the fact that there is still a pandemic and people don't want to go in! Both the waitress who were on break and the one in the front are the worst. One sitting right next to us doesn't tell us they are not serving in the outdoor area anymore and the other rolling her eyes and walking away after just saying it's oh that area is closed like no customer service at all. Will never go back again. If that area was closed they should put a sign and they need to retrain their waitresses to be more friendly and service customer needs like chick fil a gas better service, it's a fast food!! I love diner food! The first Metro Diner experience I had was in St. Augustine FL and it was definitely 5s (overall experience: food, environment & service). Therefore, when I found out a Metro Diner was being built right down the street, I was ecstatic! A couple of days ago, my sister & I decided to finally check this place out- it having been opened long enough for the crazy business to die down. This is a smaller location in comparison to the one I first experienced jn FL. However, I did notice the intent of creating a small, diner atmosphere. I just wish it was a little more "open" & not so "dark". On to the positive notes: - Our server was awesome & very personable. - The food was very good. - We will likely revisit this diner in the future. read more

It was lunch time and the place was busy. Atmosphere was nice we were seated outside. A nice area. The food was good I had the fried chicken plate 1/2 fired chicken(was crispy and delicious) with mashed potatoes and steamed medley. The service was terrible. The waitress gave the child a colored mat with no crayons. Went to prefer the mimosa but they had no champagne She took our order and left. After we got up and inquired about our food did she come back. Then bought our food and no eating utensils. The kitchen is an open concept sort of thing and those guys behind there are really funny and talkative. I had biscuits and gravy which came with eggs and hashbrowns. I've had the opportunity to dine at Metro Diner multiple times, and I'm pretty pleased with this restaurant. I also loveeeee breakfast food, so I was happy to see a new breakfast place in Chesapeake. When I think of a diner, I think of an old-school restaurant. However, I feel like metro diner is pretty modern with the retro vibes. I've been fortunate to never have to wait for a table when I've been. There's both indoor/outdoor seating and a bar area. Our servers are knowledgable of the menu and were very sweet. I highly recommend any of the benedicts and the french toast. You get a TON of food, and I've always saved part of it for lunch the next day. I would love to try the lunch food next! read more

Fun fact: Greenbrier area of Chesapeake is booming with new eateries open up all over the place, but Metro Diner should not worry about the competition: they developed faithful followers (like my family!) for a lot of reasons: hard-working, cheerful (even in the busiest times!), courteous staff, quality and variety of food that never disappoint! And size of the portions! - you could get full and make at least couple of meals out of the leftovers. read more

I enjoy this place every time we go. Clean with a great atmosphere. Great portion sizes for the money also the meals are cooked right across the counter so the food always arrives hot. Lots of choices on the menu, great for large parties (which we usually have) or just for two. We love that they have breakfast and dinner options all day.
