Went here for the first time yesterday and ordered the meatloaf. It did not leave a good taste in my mouth literally. I ate one bite and fed the rest to my dogs who really enjoyed it. I'm sure they have some very good food but I'd stay away from the "meat" loaf. read more

Excellent service and good chicken and waffles! It was VERY cold inside, so I decided to eat outside with my little diva....the weather was perfect and though the outdoor seating area is large, it was nice and comfortable. Aside from our server, at least 2 other individuals checked on us during our visit. It didn't take long for our food to arrive. My daughter and I shared the chicken and waffles, which was very good. A server prepped some "spicy maple syrup" (nothing more than Texas Pete and syrup) to go along with the chicken. It was alright with it, but I could do without it. The serving was pretty large...a breast, leg, thigh, and wing along with your standard Belgian waffle topped with fresh strawberry butter. It was a big enough serving for my daughter and I to share and still be full! I'm looking forward to my next visit to try something new! Came to the diner today for lunch. If I was only rating the food it would be getting 4 stars rating again because the food was great as usual but our service was horrible, which is why I had to lower my rating this time. We had a server by the name of Jessica, she started off great but faded extremely quick. Had to get several different staff members to help us with things like removing empty plates and drink refills because she was hanging out in the back. The other servers could not even find her. If your patient with the service experience try the restaurant as the food is always good, and we have had great service in the past, just not this time. read more

The high quantity of positive reviews made me want to try this place. I wasn't impressed. I should have guessed from the fact that the first thing the girl recommended was the chicken and waffles that this is the kinda place that covers their food with sugar and/or deep fries it to make it palatable. Enough oil or sugar and most people will eat almost anything. That said my wife is normally fairly easy to please and she was unhappy with her food as. All of the food was served cold. My omelette was small and has ver little filling. The cheese didn't even looked melted. The wife's French dip had the most dry roast beef I've ever tasted. Me and my Wife and her parents met here for a late brunch the other day. The wait staff was excellent and super friendly. The food was great, as always with metro. I love their breakfast and my wife does too. It was her parents first time and they were eager enough after the first visit to come back. The only down side was the power went out for a bit due to weather but it wasn't an issue and didn't detract from service or quality. Metro will always be one of my favorite places to grab breakfast at any time of day and I was so happy they had locations up here. 5/5. read more

I dined here for breakfast today with my mom and sister. Customer service was excellent and food was really good for the most part. My sisters pancakes were very heavy and dense. I'm not sure if that is how they are supposed to be since this was our first time. She only ate a couple of bites and took the rest home. This is my second time at this location in Chesapeake. The first time I had the Shrimp & grits. It was different from any other Shrimp & grits I had st other restaurants but it was good. Today we went in for dinner. I ordered the fish & chips that was supposedly made with Cod. It was about 5 strips of heavily breaded fish that was very thin with thick and crunchy breading. More breading than fish. The fries were hot & fresh. When my dinner arrived that was supposed to have tarter sauce the waiter stated he would be back with the sauce. Needless to say I don't like my fish without the tarter sauce. So as my fish sat in the table geting cold the waiter stops by again to say that the kitchen had to make tarter sauce & it would be out shortly. Sometime later it arrived & I was not happy. This was after we waited longer than usual for our food. I did notice the table behind me did not get what they had ordered either & their waitress was apologizing for something that was missing from their order also. The table directly across from us had complained that their waitress had not been back to check on their drinks as their order was taking longer than usual. read more

Since it's opening this diner has become one of our favorites. Although when they were new obviously they were training staff and there were a few inconsistencies put my last few visits for both dinner and Sunday brunch have been absolutely delicious and everyone at the table has thoroughly enjoyed their food. Also every times our service Has been very good and the manager has even stopped by to check on us on the busiest days. I would highly recommend Metro diner to anyone you may have to wait on a Sunday after church but it is worth it. read more

Have been here 3 times now and all 3 of them were just as good as the last. Their menu is so diverse. The cornbread waffles with Mac n cheese and pork BBQ is out of this world good and is so much food. The classic eggs Benedict is soooo good. Have to try the cinnamon roll pancakes...you can upgrade the pancakes in a regular combo to cinnamon!!! Even down to the kids chicken fingers - they are to die for. The only downside is the size of the restaurant :-(. There is usually a wait so that deters is from going because we have a 5 year old who doesn't like to sit and wait. Was hungry and really wanted to try someplace new. I had seen this place before and what the heck. It was pretty busy for 8pm at night. I was seated right away. I went with the meat loaf dinner. Good meatloaf, really good mashed potatoes and gravy that would make your grandmother proud. I loved the fried squash mix. If I had to say, the only "not great" part of the meal.... the baguette. Stopped in because we were in the area and wanted to try somewhere new for dinner. The decor and the vibe inside of the restaurant were great. Our server was super friendly and very attentive. My husband ordered the meatloaf and it was awful. It came out burnt and dry. They brought out extra veggies because there wasn't much on his plate and I thought it was nice that they didn't try to just get away with skimping on his portions. Halfway through our meal they burnt something sugary and the smell lingered. My meal wasn't anything spectacular and neither were my sons. Probably won't be giving it a second chance which makes me sad because I really like the comfort food choices they just didn't seem executed very well. read more

I finally had to try this place. It's decent, but not worth a 20+ minute wait. I ordered biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns. One of the better biscuits and gravy for this area. Definitely a large enough portion to have leftovers. The downside, everything needed more seasoning. My hashbrowns didnt taste like they had any salt or pepper. Our table also ordered some kind of eggs Benedict with crabcakes. It was pretty good! The home fries though.... no salt and no pepper. This place was very good. The food was pretty good, the Monte Christo was a bit soggy but otherwise fine. The customer service was excellent, everyone we dealt with was very friendly. The only complaint I have is with the atmosphere. This place is VERY loud, the music is way louder than it should be. We had to speak very loudly just to hear each other, and I had to read our servers lips every time we interacted. I assume that's something that will be fixed with some time, having to adjust to the space they have. Having said that, I will be back here. The menu was very unique and interesting and they have a handful of things I want to try. read more

I had previously given a 4 star review but after getting breakfast to go several times I had to update the review. The most recent trip was on 7/28 where my wait was told to be 15-20 mins for a to go order. It was well over 25 mins and when I arrived home(a 2 min drive), half of my order was cold and the Metro Pancake(the item that made the wait so long) had uncooked batter in the middle and instead of being fluffy it was more the consistency of a sponge.
