Food was really good. We got breakfast and you can't go wrong with any of the options. Service was impeccable. The ambience...upscale diner.

I met a friend for breakfast. I specifically chose Metro Diner because the Manager, Jason, is excellent and will accommodate customers with food allergies. We met at 10 am and we're seated quickly. Our waitress came by and took our drink orders and handed us menus and flatware. Pam is allergic to beef, pork and shrimp. We started to explain her allergies to our waitress who didn't quite understand what Pam was saying do I asked her to ask Jason to come to our table. He appeared in about 2 minutes. We explained Pam's food allergies and he offered grilled chicken tenders and double hash browns. Jason cooked her foods in skillets instead of the flattop to ensure no cross contamination. He even threw in an extra tender at no charge. Pam said her food was delicious and we thanked Jason for taking such great care to ensure Pam's foods were pristine. I ordered a side salad and the turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes, and green beans plus an order of grilled chicken tenders and hash browns to go. He threw in a complimentary tender for me. I highly recommend Metro Diner on Airport Road. Jason is the best Manager in this town and he works very hard to accommodate his customers. He goes out of his way to ensure his customers have great food and are satisfied customers. He is the BEST!!!

Came here on a Sunday at breakfast time. It was pretty busy but we were seated pretty quick. There were lots of people working so they seem to get customers in and out pretty fast. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Hubby got the biscuits and gravy. Chicken was great, hot and crispy and there were 4 pieces. Waffles were a little underdone. I asked for a little extra strawberry butter which they provided. Hubby didn't think the gravy was as good as another location we have been to but he still liked it well enough. Service was good. Staff were all very nice. I would eat here again.

Gave this place a go rather than IHOP...it was so worth it! Prompt and friendly service. Clean and cheery. Our server Tammy was amazing. Portions were huge and good, a rare combination. Enjoyed the 80s music, which wasn't too loud for talking. Restrooms were clean. All in all, a great find and we'll be back again.

    Burnt toast

Server was nice, offered to bring more toast since one side was black, returned later with more burnt toast. Scrambled eggs were good, hashbrowns were very greasy and we could not finish them.

We love going to the Metro Diner and were thrilled to find one in Huntsville. We decided to come early morning for breakfast before the brunch rush. We didn't have to wait to be seated. However, it took a while for anyone to acknowledge us. Then a kind older lady named Beverly came and asked us if anyone came by yet. She was great! Our table wasn't in her section, but that didn't stop her. We ordered coffee to start. She kept it coming. I got the southwest breakfast burrito. My husband got the biscuits and gravy. I always get the gas browns with cheese and onion. So good!!!

I have never tried Metro Diner but I am so glad that another place in the area had messed up a wait list so we decided to try it out. I wasn't sure what to get but I was told the Chicken and Waffles are amazing. They also had a few specials on a black board. Like a sweet and spicy chicken and waffles, a southwest burrito and a meat burrito. However, after looking through the menu, I decided on the Bissell Breakfast. It seemed to have it all, and it absolutely had it all. The pancakes (2) were amazing. Light and fluffy served with hot syrup on the side. The hash browns were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The eggs weren't cooked to my liking I ordered over medium and got more of an over easy. (The whites were still runny) but in their defense if I would've had more stomach room I could have very well eaten the eggs with the fabulous toast they provided. The bacon was nice and crispy, toast was a 9-grain with butter, and lastly I ordered a side of cheesiest grits because why not. My favorite items in order were: pancakes, hash browns, cheesiest grits, bacon, toast, eggs. The pancakes were perfect. Hash browns delicious. The coffee is amazing coffee as well it was extremely smooth. Service was pretty good. They were training new staff which was great, our order did take a little bit but it was ok. I enjoyed the time there and loved the atmosphere. Overall it was a wonderful experience I will definitely be back!

I imagine this diner has 4 star potential. Based on just one visit while in town recently, it felt like a solid 3 based on our order. The service was super friendly and fast and everything was clean. I ordered the fried chicken benedict--it was good if not great. The chicken was delicious, the poached eggs were just slightly under-done (runny white not just yolk) though I understand it's a fine line. Definitely still good and more than edible. The biscuit was a lot crumblier and dryer than I expected but the hollandaise sauce was good. It plated great (check the pic). The home fries were well seasoned and cooked but room temp when served, for both me and my dining partner. We would have preferred they have been hot. She ordered the bacon, egg. and cheese croissant and loved it. Prices were just a tad higher than expected but not exorbitantly so. I'd definitely give them another shot if ever in the area again.

Belgian Waffle w/strawberries & turkey sausage. Sorry ,I forgot to get a photo before eating. It's wonderful!

It was 0930. Inside there were a dozen seniors enjoying breakfast. One of the ladies told us to take a seat anywhere and she would bring us menus after she dropped off 3 plates of food. The plates looked good. I ordered a 3 egg ham and cheese western omelet that a biscuit, gravy, and grits. Dave likes hash browns so I got an order of the browns for him. The omelet was good. The biscuit and gravy were better. I read an article somewhere. I don't remember where about the best biscuits and gravy in the state of Alabama. Bubby's diner was second place. I see why they were ranked high!!! 5/5 I heard a man in the diner talking up his patty melt. He told his companion she did not know what she was missing. I was at the counter so I did not turn around to search for the man. A patty melt sounded good to me so I ordered one. The patty melt was placed on top of thick marbled rye bread. The actual patties inside were cooked well, moist, and flavorful. I enjoyed the panty melt! Dave said too much rye bread took away from the taste of the patties.. i think if the patties were served on thinner bread or sourdough, the patty melt would earn that extra star. 4/5 I did order a side of fried green tomatoes. They were breaded well, fried in clean oil, and delicious!!! 5/5

There are two buffet islands, one with main course and sides and some desert, the other with a salad bar and more desert options. There is also an ice cream machine that my wife swears tastes just like Chik-fil-a's. The food is almost all southern, and some of it got rotated out while we ate (the chicken and dumplings gave way to country fried steak and gravy). Fried Chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, fried okra, corn, green beans, man n cheese -- the list goes on and on. By and large, the food was exceptional. The fried chicken was moist and the breading is flavorful, the mashed potatoes were good. Pulled pork was succulent and the BBQ sauce was great. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Only downsides from my visit was that the corn bread was a tad dry and not sweat (that's a preference thing) and there was no gravy for the mashed potatoes. That being said the yeast rolls are great. The chicken fried steak got rotated in with some pepper gravy (a bit watery) but these were the only nitpicks I found with my visit. Overall the best southern food and best buffet near Huntsville. My waitress ('Granny') was hustling, she made sure the plates were cleared and the drinks stayed full. Everyone seemed to know her and she was able to be friendly with the locals while taking care of business. All of the employees I saw were busy, wiping down the buffet lines, bringing in heaps of food and just making it a great experience. The value was phenomenal -- $12.50 for adults and $7 for kids. I wish they served Coke products and lived next door then they'd be perfect. If you're reading about this place and you live in Hunstville, its worth the drive. If you're a local, its probably a staple and you already know. 5 stars, would recommend. Thanks!

The star of the meal was the fried green tomatoes. They were thick, juicy, perfectly fried, and honestly didn't need any dipping sauce or condiment at all. They're some of the best I've had. Minnie and I both ordered the whole catfish with mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes. We absolutely demolished our plates. The catfish was delicious, and the mashed potatoes tasted genuinely homemade. The brown gravy was rich and flavorful and paired perfectly with them. My mom ordered the 4-vegetable plate with fried green tomatoes, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and fried okra. She loved everything on her plate. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the restaurant was busy the entire time we were there. There was a steady stream of both dine-in customers and takeout orders, which tells you a lot about the place's reputation. My only complaint is the wait time. Food takes a while to come out, especially if you're ordering fried items, but they do warn you ahead of time. The quality makes it clear they're cooking to order, so if you decide to visit, just be prepared to be patient. If someone asked me where to take an out-of-town guest for authentic Southern cooking, G's Country Kitchen would be at the top of my list. The food is homemade, comforting, and exactly what people imagine when they think of classic Southern cuisine. Overall, the food was fantastic, the service was welcoming, and it's easy to see why G's Country Kitchen is a go-to spot for homestyle country cooking. We'll definitely be back.

The owner personally sat with our team, walking us through the menu item by item, sharing stories, and offering recommendations on his favorite dishes. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, the kind of dish that makes you pause after the first bite. The catfish was especially delicious as well, tender, flavorful, and cooked just right, embodying everything you hope for in classic country cooking. We were promptly seated and handed one hand written daily menu with the Meat Special of the day (which was Meatloaf), along with the available sides. There were two menus clipped to the wall but three members in our party. I stole one from a nearby table without anyone noticing. The prices seemed very reasonable ($10~) for most lunch items. They serve Coke products (no Coke Zero, sadly). Our orders were promptly taken. I ordered some 'Pot Sticker' (4) with soy sauce and a Club Sandwich. I usually order a Club Sandwich to evaluate a diner, but I'm also a fan of Pot stickers and a fatty so I grabbed some of those as well. My faithful companions ordered a Happy Burger and a Philly Cheese Steak. The sandwiches didn't say that they came with fries (unlike other menu items), so that was an unexpected bonus. The wait staff was pleasant but not exactly friendly. My food came out after an interminable time. The Pot sticker was... not good. Probably the second worst Pot stickers/dumplings/goyza that I've ever had. My wife is half asian and her mom ran multiple Chinese food restaurants whens he was growing up, so I eat them.fairly often both frozen and in restaurants (as well as home made when I visit the Mother in Law) and these dumplings were bad. The 'soy sauce' was worse. I could only identify it as soy sauce because the menu said the pot stickers came with soy sauce. When I dunked half a pot sticker in the sauce it came up stained black like a sinners soul and the sauce tasted like fish sauce or motor oil. To sanity check, I insisted one of my coworkers also try one and they were also repulsed. Said it was horrible. The rest of the food (at least main courses) were great! I enjoyed my club sandwich a lot. Little small, but cheese was melted and it was delicious. Fries looked like Ore-Ida very bright yellow) and came out without salt or seasoning but that was something I could fix with three generous shakes of a salt shaker. My companions enjoyed their meal (a Happy burger and a Philly cheese steak) a lot. One said the Philly cheese steak was 7 or 8/10, the other said the burger was one of the best he'd had. The interior was a little hot and stuff, interior a little dirty/greasy -- very much a 'greasy spoon'. There's a great value proposition as long as you avoid asian food, and the main courses are tasty. Give it a shot at least once.
