Update 9/24/26 I went again to test after doing about a month or so at city Café diner that never ruined my eggs. When I went yesterday morning, both of my eggs were hard-boiled. I had to return it and when I returned it, they gave me a perfect poached eggs, so I don't get why the eggs benny keep getting ruined but it's too bad. I'll leave my review at three Stars I'm probably gonna stick with city Café for now until the chef changes or the chef gets their quality control back up in place cause there's no way the chef didn't see it.. Edit: I changed this review from two stars to three simply because we had an awesome manager literally apologized and give me a 20% discount which is pretty stinking cool. Still though that vengeful chef seems a bit much for me to visit immediately, but I'll look at the visit again later. I only go there for the eggs. Benedict probably went there 12 times in the last half a year. The last three times the eggs were over boiled through, no runny yolk. So I told them yesterday when i went to pls make it runny cause last time it wasnt... so you know what they did. They fry the egg instead and it still wasn't runny. I literally got a fried egg for eggs Benedict. I guess they're getting revenge on me for complaining. Good job chef, keep up the good work of losing customers. With such an unassuming name, Metro Diner, this place is phenomenal! My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time on Sunday, and we're back already the following Tuesday! The manager is so friendly and works with his team to make the entire experience special and welcoming. They are absolutely precious. On Sunday, we ordered the lemon blueberry Belgian waffle. My husband ordered the bone-in chicken and I chose the tenders. I usually have no interest in tenders, but the server, Raven, had great things to say about them. Wow, was she right! These tenders are so flavorful that they don't even need a dipping sauce. The waffles are light, fluffy, and flavorful perfection. Today we had the lemon blueberry pancakes and standard short stack with the chicken, bone-in and tenders. Chef's kiss! The chicken is fried fresh, so be patient. Their syrup and hot sauce dip make the pancakes/waffles with chicken cohesive. The strawberry butter taste like ice cream! It's a very nice touch. The coffee has that kind of weak, hot and just brewed thing good diners do well. We've been complaining about the price of everything being so high nowadays. But for some reason, dining here feels worth it. We're looking forward to trying many more things on the menu, so many tried-and-true favorites to choose from! read more

I judge a place on whether I have to ask for more coffee or water. I did for both. They weren't that busy. Next, check your salt Shaker. More rice than salt. When I unscrewed the top to clear the holes. I got a pile. The food was good. Like a lot of places, they have a lot of biscuits and gravy. Just needed salt imo. Coffee was good. Some places have almost undrinkable coffee. This is not one of them. Music was almost too loud, but you could still have a conversation. The chatter of the employees was like an old school diner. I met a friend for breakfast. I specifically chose Metro Diner because the Manager, Jason, is excellent and will accommodate customers with food allergies. We met at 10 am and we're seated quickly. Our waitress came by and took our drink orders and handed us menus and flatware. Pam is allergic to beef, pork and shrimp. We started to explain her allergies to our waitress who didn't quite understand what Pam was saying do I asked her to ask Jason to come to our table. He appeared in about 2 minutes. We explained Pam's food allergies and he offered grilled chicken tenders and double hash browns. Jason cooked her foods in skillets instead of the flattop to ensure no cross contamination. He even threw in an extra tender at no charge. Pam said her food was delicious and we thanked Jason for taking such great care to ensure Pam's foods were pristine. I ordered a side salad and the turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes, and green beans plus an order of grilled chicken tenders and hash browns to go. He threw in a complimentary tender for me. I highly recommend Metro Diner on Airport Road. Jason is the best Manager in this town and he works very hard to accommodate his customers. Came here on a Sunday at breakfast time. It was pretty busy but we were seated pretty quick. There were lots of people working so they seem to get customers in and out pretty fast. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Hubby got the biscuits and gravy. Chicken was great, hot and crispy and there were 4 pieces. Waffles were a little underdone. I asked for a little extra strawberry butter which they provided. Hubby didn't think the gravy was as good as another location we have been to but he still liked it well enough. Service was good. However, it took a while for anyone to acknowledge us. Then a kind older lady named Beverly came and asked us if anyone came by yet. She was great! I have never tried Metro Diner but I am so glad that another place in the area had messed up a wait list so we decided to try it out. I wasn't sure what to get but I was told the Chicken and Waffles are amazing. They also had a few specials on a black board. Like a sweet and spicy chicken and waffles, a southwest burrito and a meat burrito. However, after looking through the menu, I decided on the Bissell Breakfast. It seemed to have it all, and it absolutely had it all. The pancakes (2) were amazing. Light and fluffy served with hot syrup on the side. The hash browns were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The eggs weren't cooked to my liking I ordered over medium and got more of an over easy. (The whites were still runny) but in their defense if I would've had more stomach room I could have very well eaten the eggs with the fabulous toast they provided. The bacon was nice and crispy, toast was a 9-grain with butter, and lastly I ordered a side of cheesiest grits because why not. My favorite items in order were: pancakes, hash browns, cheesiest grits, bacon, toast, eggs. The pancakes were perfect. Hash browns delicious. The coffee is amazing coffee as well it was extremely smooth. Service was pretty good. They were training new staff which was great, our order did take a little bit but it was ok. I imagine this diner has 4 star potential. Based on just one visit while in town recently, it felt like a solid 3 based on our order. The service was super friendly and fast and everything was clean. I ordered the fried chicken benedict--it was good if not great. The chicken was delicious, the poached eggs were just slightly under-done (runny white not just yolk) though I understand it's a fine line. Definitely still good and more than edible. The biscuit was a lot crumblier and dryer than I expected but the hollandaise sauce was good. It plated great (check the pic). The home fries were well seasoned and cooked but room temp when served, for both me and my dining partner. We would have preferred they have been hot. She ordered the bacon, egg. and cheese croissant and loved it. Prices were just a tad higher than expected but not exorbitantly so. Kara and the kitchen made my morning with another perfectly poached eggs benedict! (Of note: better half's two egg breakfast was also exceptional.) Service is always so kind here, and we've started stopping by for a quick dinner as well--the meatloaf is a good option, the shepherd's pie is outstanding, and you can count on a quick and reasonably priced meal. A lot of people seem to be knocking this place for the most random things...I've never seen bad service here, the food always comes out quickly (though I haven't done takeout) and correctly, etc. I wonder if half the clientele don't come in angry as I've yet to find a complaint here. On a return visit to Metro diner I ordered the club sandwich and you talk about a surprise! The sandwich was large and loaded with all the usual meats but were of much better quality. The bacon was to die for! The bacon was so thick, meaty and cooked to a wonderful crisp... I felt sorry for the oinker that got sacrificed! Even my father-in-law requested that I tear off half a slice so he can sample it. The french fries were once again cooked to perfection just the way I like it. Needless to say I had half of it as leftovers. My wife had a chicken sandwich with fries she raved about and my father-in-law had the roasted turkey plate. All he talked about was how good the mashed taters were. He didn't share either! Many thanks to JJ for welcoming us Friday night for a gathering of new friends. I am a fan of Metro Diner. I am usually very satisfied and very full because of the generous portions. This review is low because of my experience with the Fried Fish Friday lunch special. I would recommend anything else. The Friday lunch entry includes a side salad, and the salad was excellent. The problem was the fish. I believe it was cod, but honestly it looked like a pre-browned fish stick from your grocer's freezer. The fish had too much batter, was overcooked, and was very greasy. The two pieces of greasy cod were stacked on fries, and even the fries were greasy. I usually "clean my plate", but I could barely eat half of it. Just Meh! We arrived at about 5:45 on a Monday night to take a family member out for a birthday dinner. First of all we were the only people there which was a red flag for me. But we assumed because it was Monday and Fall Break in our school district it probably was explainable. I ordered a Philly Cheese steak and onion rings. My Granddaughter ordered steak tips and the other two ordered breakfast entrees. The food took over 30 minutes to start showing up and it came out one dish at a time. We waited at least 15 minutes for all of us to be served. Everyone said their meal was just okay. My Philly cheese steak was not good. Instead of sliced steak it had the consistency and taste of chuck roast. I doubt we would return unless for breakfast which was adequate according to the ones that ordered breakfast entrees. My husband saw this restaurant on line and was drawn to try it out because of the picture of the chicken & waffles. So I decided to try and although the chicken was seasoned to perfection I had to send it back TWICE for my breasts being undercooked!! Even though they took care of my part of the order not once did a manager come to the table to apologize for their cooks sending out raw food!!! TWICE!!!!
