I've been wanting to switch up the breakfasts spots and decided to give Metro a try. We came on a Sunday early afternoon and got seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and took our order fast. I ordered a skillet type thing with sausage, egg, hashbrowns, and veggies. It was good but there was WAYYYYY too much cheese. So much cheese that I had to layer most of it off because I couldn't even taste the other foods in it. I also don't think they cooked the eggs thoroughly because the mix of all the ingredients created a lot of water at the bottom of the skillet. The square potatoes though were delicious. Next time I come I will have to try something else for sure. My friend ordered biscuits and gravy and they were really good. We had to run out and do something unexpected and while out decided to go by for a bit of a late diner. It was our first time visiting and time of evening meant no wait and fairly quick service. My hamburger was very good. Burger meat was very hot, but the bacon was cool. Maybe how it is to be. Wife had BLT and she said it was very good. Good sized portions. Our daughter had Chicken Strips and fries. She said it was good. She is a lover of hot tea and had a cup. She had a few choices to choose from, but she was not fond of the tea she had. Four of us met for a late lunch on Labor Day. We were immediately seated and the hostess was really friendly. We sat on their covered patio and two of us got the fried chicken platter - 1/2 of a chicken, biscuit & two sides), which is a very large portion and tasted really good (I would get something else besides the green beans next time). My co-worker stopped in for lunch today a little before noon. We were seated immediately and quickly greeted by Shaylee. I could tell as soon as she came to our table we were going to get fantastic service! She took our drink orders and quickly returned to give us suggestions from the menu. I love when a server knows the menu and can make good recommendations. We needed a few minutes to decide and she gave us that but quickly returned when she knew we were ready to order. I got the black and blue burger. It came with a side and I got the seasoned fries. Shaylee offered us ranch when she took our order and told us it was made from scratch. It was delicious! I dipped my fries in it and got every last drop out. The burger was nice a big (bigger than the bun). It came with tomato, lettuce, bacon and blue cheese. I think some type of aioli sauce would have definitely enhanced the texture of the burger as it was just a bit dry...:not the meat itself but it was just lacking a condiment. I got a Coke Zero and Shaylee was quick with the refills and gave us to go cups as well. I have to say I was quite shocked when I got the bill and the Coke Zero was $3.49! So the price of a fountain drink and the lack of a condiment on the burger is where my 5 stars went to 4. My coworker got the club sandwich with fries and cole slaw. It looked amazing. She said it was very good. I was also impressed that after Shaylee took our order the manager came over to our booth to check in and also gave us a 20% off dinner coupon which was really nice and appreciated. My only other negative and I realize after Covid restaurants are just lucky to have employees come to work, the floors seemed kind of dirty. The restrooms were clean enough but we both agreed that the floors needed some attention. We went to Metro this weekend for brunch. I am not a huge fan of breakfast food but my parents are, so they had been to another Metro location and knew there was plenty to choose from. Well in my option, unless you want breakfast or a burger there was not many option. Yes they had chicken n waffles for about $16. No thanks! I went with a club sandwich. I can't even remember the last time I had a club. But that was all I was going to eat. It was an okay sandwich. I didn't like it that all of the meat was stacked in the middle of the bread. It made it so large that you could not eat it. I had to take it a part to take a bit. And it was more that I could eat. I am glad my husband and I split it. The building is very small. They have added on to one side with a tent but it was too cold to sit outside. We had a 25 minute wait on a Sunday about 11:30 am. I will stick to Cracker Barrel for our Sunday brunch days. read more

The waitress recommended the cinnamon roll pancakes so I trusted her advice and went for it. And they were amazing!! Pancake shape and texture with cinnamon roll taste and icing on top! Anyway back on track....We have tried Metro Diner a few times and they have provided consistent service each time. It is a little on the pricier side but their food is delicious and it is worth it! This was my first visit to the Plainfield location. I've been to the Butler location several times and I've always been happy. This location didn't disappoint. I arrived right before the lunch crowd so my wait was only 10 minutes. By the time I was seated, the crowd was out the door. This is a decent size location with several booths and a majority of 4 top tables. Perfect to accommodate different size parties. The counter area is first come so grab a seat if you encounter a wait. I ordered the Mediterranean Omelette and it was loaded with spinach, tomatoes, feta cheese and mushrooms that I requested added. The eggs were perfectly cooked, not rubbery eggs, and I enjoyed. The portions are always on the large size and this omelette was no exception. I had to request a box to go. My server was on her game and keep my drink filled and checked on me often. When it was time for the check she didn't disappear after dropping off the check. She followed through from start to finish. Even though I had a great experience my family of 4 did not during an earlier visit. The server was young and inexperienced and made their visit miserable and left a bad taste in their mouths. I hope management can separate those struggling and retrain. This morning I found the restaurant very clean and well stocked. I chose to buy an English muffin with cheese and sausage, a chocolate chip cookie along with a box of Buckeyes. All were very tasty I was just disappointed that English muffin was assembled and then microwave. It left the muffin a little chewy and tough. read more

We decided to try Metro Diner after reading the reviews for huevos rancheros, which my husband was really craving. And he was not disappointed, saying they were the best he's ever had! The chips are homemade, portions were huge, and he left happy. I had scrambled eggs, toast, and potatoes - again with huge portions. A great stop for a tasty breakfast with friendly and quick service. They have daily specials, as well as a great looking menu of regular breakfast and dinner items. Very excited to try this place out! The service is fast and friendly! My order of the regular cheese burger and side salad of homemade blue cheese dressing was great! I also enjoyed two seasonal Samuel Adams Octoberfest! I only have two complaints. First, the lettuce was not at its highest quality of freshness. Not a big deal but should have been noticed in the kitchen to pull out the wilted pieces. The second is there was a staff member that was calling for runners that was a tad bit over the top annoying. We were the closest table to the kitchen but I have no doubt that the guests on the opposite side of the diner couldn't hear him. My suggestion would be, if you get lettuce like I did, complain. If you want a peaceful quiet meal, ask to be seated far away from the kitchen or perhaps on their wonderful patio! read more

Mmmmm...Metro Diner is one of our favorite restaurants, especially for brunch, in the Indy & surrounding areas. They have a very affordable & diverse menu, so something for everyone :) One of my favorite dishes is Huevos Rancheros, lots of layers of chorizo sausage, black beans, eggs (your way) cheeses, a pretty pattern of crispy, flaky tortillas wedges & topped with salsa, sour cream & green onions. Our servers have always been nice, attentive & offer good suggestions. Tons of French toast choice too! Four stars this visit since my husband said his Southern Omelette didn't have much cheese or filling other than large pieces of ham. Hot chocolate with lots of whipped topping was a sweet treat! We tried the diner last night for dinner. Really impressed with the quality and how efficient they were. The wait staff use iPads, which sents the orders directly to the kitchen. I love that you can order any menu item anytime and they serve alcohol. Can't wait to come back and try breakfast with a mimosa. Just finished at IU in Indy so looking for a breakfast place on the way home. Place was clean, waitress attentive. I ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns. My husband ordered waffles and fried chicken. We had coffee to drink. They gave me a huge order of biscuits and gravy by mistake. I couldn't eat them all. They were good and were homemade but a little too thin. The chicken for my husband was a bit over cooked. Looked like it was likely frozen and deep fried. Waffle just average type. Nothing special and our bill was $35 not including tip. Pretty pricy breakfast for nothing too special. We won't go back. The average working class can not afford their prices. read more

This was a pleasant surprise. They offer a full menu all day long. I wasn't sure which soup I wanted to try. Without asking the waitress brought me samples of both. They were the tomato bisque and the chili. Both was delicious. I'm very picky about chili. The chili was well flavored, with the perfect amount of meat and beans. Then I ordered the shrimp and grits for my main dish. It was delicious as well. Plenty of large shrimp, with bits of sausage and bacon in the sauce. The grits were served as stacked fried grit cakes. This use to be my favorite go to breakfast. The last two times I have been here it's been a horrible experience. The last time I came was Jan. 6th. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and they changed the sauce. It use to have a nice lemon/sweet taste to it. It was dead and pasty. Took 2 bites of it and returned it. I was given a hard time from the waitress about a month ago saying I ate half. Sorry 2 bites is not half, but yet again it's not that big of a meal. So over a month later I came back tasted the sauce before ordering the dish. Tasted a little better but it's still missing something. I asked for a side of sauce with lemon. Squeezed just a little in there and much better tasting. I asked to please make sure the English muffin is toasted because if it's busy back there the buns don't get toasted. So the owner looks like he is finally taking some time off which is good. They have a really nice manager in there named Bryce. He is very attentive and on top of everything and won't put up with anything less than par. So the Eggs Benedict comes out, English muffin toasted nicely, but when I cut into it and the yolk was running perfect, the eggs were running white and not the white was not cooked all the way. Which is too raw for me. The waitress came by and here is where it went sideways. Rebecca is her name.....when taking the order she was coughing and coughing sucking on a cough drop out candy. That made always makes me nervous wondering if someone is sick working in the food business. I asked if she was sick, she didn't say anything so I figured it was allergies or something else. While waiting for food at the window she wipes her nose.....not a good sign. When I talked to her about the whites of the eggs running she just picked up the plate and left. I thought good gosh I am not finished talking to her. Very frustrating. When she came back and said they are remaking it. I told her I wasn't finished talking. She said she needed to get the plate back to the kitchen. Whether you let me finish talking or not the plate still would have gone back to the kitchen. That was not good customer service. The manager Bryce came by to bring the new dish, and I told him I wanted to tell the waitress that I still wanted the yolk running just not the whites of the egg to be running raw. I told him she just walked away and didn't let the customer finish talking. I was mad!! He understood what I was saying. He said from now on I need to tell the waitress I want it poached medium. The yolk was barely running, but at least the whites were cooked. I have never had to let a waitress know when ordering Eggs Benedict I want it poached medium. If kitchen knows how to cook the eggs right, then it comes out perfectly. The 1/2 Belgium Waffle for an up charge of $1.20 was the best part of the meal. I didn't know they had strawberry butter which was delicious. I did half regular butter and syrup and the other have strawberry butter. In the end my meal with an ice tea was $15.35. Lastly, the bathroom needed cleaning and restocking of toilet paper. It will be a very, very long time before I go back again. Emmy Pancake House will now be my local go too. Been there a few times and never disappoints. Just a longer distance to travel. The owner who works his tail off at this location has done a wonderful job over the last few years bringing this restaurant where it needed to be. I hope they just haven't gotten comfortable and gone back to their old ways. That waitress hopefully was just having a bad day. read more
