We were enroute from Fort Knox, KY to MN. Stopped here as spouse has liked their mashed potatoes found in the grocery stores. There are no Bob Evans in MN. I ordered a pick 2 lunch special of 1/2 turkey club sandwich and chicken ranch salad. You also get bread with your meal. I chose banana bread and brought a piece back. The restaurant was a little slow for a Thursday night dinner crowd but construction in the area has been heavy. We seated immediately and our waitress checked on us pretty reliably at first. The menu selections were plentiful and the price points were all over the place. They had 2 for 22.95 dining selections that came with a small size entree and soup or salad started and a shareable dessert at the end. It doesn't state the entrees are the blue plate specials they have but it's obvious that's what they are. You can buy the blue plate special for 8.99. They also had the pick two for 8.99 which is a pretty decent deal with pretty decent selections and the portion size is pretty decent as well. I went with the chicken and noodles w/ mashed taters and biscuit for that comes with your choice of fresh banana bread or fresh yeast rolls for a little over $10. My wife had the pick two and went for the 1/2 turkey sandwich and the cranberry salad with banana bread for $8.99. Bob Evan's has a rewards app now that will have coupons from time to time and also will let you rack up points for your purchases. I was fortunate and found a $3 off coupon on my app I could use. The service was a little slow once business picked up but this restaurant always has staffing issues. The young lady who was our server was very young but very pleasant and polite. Very disappointed with the experience of visiting this location. Service was atrociously slow. It took 30 minutes plus to make a couple of salads. They were not even busy. Waitresses were standing around looking at phones rather than taking care of customers. After getting our salads one of them was wrong. Another 15 minutes waiting on that. Big shout out to the very first, Bob Evans I've ever been to! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate my daughter and I who were traveling through from South Dakota. She had gotten motion sickness and been ill for the whole 11 hour Dr. I had been everywhere around this location looking for a cup of chicken noodle soup. They were closing or had closed. Took a party of 6 out for dinner this year to Bob Evans just like last year. True it was Thanksgiving but, after waiting for 1.5 hours for a table, we got our orders in and 40 min later we got our bread but wait, they are out of banana bread, only rolls or biscuits available. Twenty mins after that our food comes out and it is barely even room temperature and we're a plate short. Never offered refills on the drinks and after flagging down our waitress to get our pie brought out after eating the cold food, we are informed they are now out of Pecan and only have Pumpkin or Apple. So twenty mins later, still no pie, so we get up to leave and are told to wait they will now bring us our pie. So we get brought pie as we are waiting another 10 minutes to pay so we can leave and no ask as to "how was our food" because they knew what was coming. No offer to discount for the lousy decisions they made resulting in shorting our food and choices, it being cold or missing parts. I am one of the most tolerant people you will ever find when it comes to restaurants and service therein, but this was just bad. The least that SHOULD have been done was half off or some kind of discount but got offered nothing. Been a loyal customer for a long time but standards here have dropped and management may need to think about changing their priorities, and possibly the owners may want to hire new management. I'm a regular and we appreciate this location because they respect the constitution. Also, never failed us yet with some good breakfast food! Wonderful servers every time! Thanks for always making out kids feel safe they are having a hard time with lockdowns and masks. Both have autism and sensory processing disorder which makes it nearly impossible to go out unless I want to normalize it and yell at my kids for not wearing one. I choose not to and I thank you deeply for allowing us to eat there occasionally without a big fuss my kids are not something to be feared and I don't feel they should have to live in fear either. I arrived in Brownsburg IN literally too tired to chew, meaning Bon Evans was definitely the right choice for dinner. It was 2 minutes from my hotel, and I knew it wouldn't take long so I could go crash. The food? It's fine. Everything is soft, served with gravy and primarily tastes of salt. Every now and again I like to remind myself of what life will be like when I move to the nursing home. When I do, I sincerely hope that the staff at this location works there because they are all incredibly kind people despite most of the patrons acting like entitled gobshites. Case in point the lady next to me (with 2 awful children) who kept my very sweet server running with an endless supple of petty complaints. Jayden needed more chocolate milk. Jaxson ('cause you know it's spelled that way) can't eat his tenders without a literal bowl of ranch dressing....she always gets that premium thing for free because she comes in EVERY week and maybe she needs a manager to help. The food is always hot and fresh. they have so many menu options and it's just down right country eating near you without the hustle of cooking or trying to find good home style food. First time there & last. Left hungry. Server was distant with us & another couple near us. My husbands 3 egg omelette was no more than 2 eggs & poorly made. We literally struggled to get my fork through my biscuit. Couldn't eat it. Guy next to us had same issue which he mentioned to our server & with no comment or expression, she just turned and rolled her eyes. We're used to places being short staffed but how do you mess up an omelette or a biscuit? Also, if you can't even fake a smile, maybe customer service isn't your thing. After our food came out she got a large table with 10+ people, she checked on us prior to this table being seated and made sure we had drinks and didn't need anything..which was awesome. I go here for breakfast only once in a while. Its usually just ok. Last couple times its way way below par. Bob evans should not be expected to be above par. Because its ..well.. bob evans. Last couple visits I've done carry out. Each time "country biscuit breakfast". Each time potatoes were burnt black. Not even edible. Don't tell me the cook didn't notice this. They just don't care. I wont get into the bathrooms too much but it was about 8am on Saturday. You would think the bathrooms would be clean and stocked for the morning rush. No paper towels at all. We eat here regularly only bc everyone can get what they want. The food is ok. I asked for a cobb salad with no meat bc I do not eat meat. They did not out chicken on it but apparently bacon is not meat to them. So I jus sat there and picked all the bacon off of it because I knew it would take forever to get another remade. A huge pet peeve of mine at Bob Evans is when you are with a large group they have the person at the end of the table pass all of the food down instead of the server actually walking the food to the correct person. Where to begin. Let's start with how completely filthy this place was, then we can go to the staff. Though nice, they feel it's more important to walk behind the bar and refill their own cups out of the soda machine then it is to make sure the people paying for drinks have theirs filled. ( general manager if you check your write off schedule for 7/3/19 you should see the food you gave away). Soup was cold. Not just cold but out of the can cold. Our server told me that was the last of it also. Then 30 min later my salad arrived ! 30 Minutes ! As I was eating my salad I pulled it back to see it was floating in a bowl of water. Wow. When we were seated there was only 4 other people in the place eating. ( and I overheard the waitress taking things off their bill as we sat down). Did I mention how incredibly filthy this place was? Even the rest rooms. The server removed the soup from my bill. I fail to mention the soup salad after I just wanted to leave. While I was waiting in line the person checking out in front of me was also having a dinner removed from his bill. Being a resident from Brownsburg I will promise you your demise is soon. Along with several board of health violations i noticed in my hour I sat there with my horrible food and lack of attention for customer service, the board of health violations were all over the place. We will never ever ever step back into this place. Too many great options in this town plus many more on the way to ever drop $$ in the place again. Your demise is soon. I don't know about other Bob Evans locations, but the one in Brownsburg Indiana is definitely not a favorite. Firstly, the food is very UNDERwhelming my family and I all got our food within a reasonable amount of time but our biscuits were cold and dry. My eggs were watery and the sausage was too gross to ingest. Our waitress was incredibly kind and prompt and clearly overwhelmed, she was young and the place was crowded and understaffed so I felt awful for her. Please managers/owners do a better job when considering wait staff as they are some of the hardest working people. It is a hard job!! read more
