I thought the food was okay, I had the chicken and waffles. The waffles were kind of bland but the fried chicken was better. The snicker doodle coffee was not bad. I felt that the menu is a little overpriced for the quality. I was quite disappointed with the service. It was packed but the wait time for a table wasn't bad. They use tablets to log orders and send to the kitchen, and our waiter said "it didn't fire", so after about 15 minutes he realized this and had to resend our order. He was very friendly, and I figured well glitches and things probably happen from time to time, not a big deal. They apologized and gave us a $5 voucher to use on our next visit, after we had already paid. After reading other reviews & talking to some other people, I saw this has happened to others and their whole meal was comped in some cases while we didn't even get a discount or anything on ours. In the overall scheme of things we weren't that upset about the error & I we weren't going to say anything or complain, but I didn't appreciate the inconsistency in handling the error compared to others, and that we had to pay the full price for all 3 of our entrees. read more

I tried the metro diner today for the first time with a few friends. The food was good, however my friend and I both ordered burgers and theirs came out medium rare and mine was well done. Our server did not ask how we wanted them cooked either. They ending up sending the burger back and our server was very rude about it. They made them pay the full price for the burger and didn't offer to take anything off or even apologize (which is uncommon for a restaurant). We also asked for condiments to go with the burger and waitress was not polite about bringing them either. Just went here for breakfast, and we had a great experience! It was a very busy place but the wait was only about 15 minutes so not too bad. I got the veggie omelette with hash browns and wheat toast. Huge portion! The hash browns were great - had a really nice crispy crust. And the omelette was stuffed full of veggies. We also got the cinnamon roll pancakes to share, and they were delicious!!! Two huge cinnamon sugar pancakes with icing and pecans. Sooo good. A few of their lunch menu items looked awesome too so we will have to come back! read more

We went to Metro Diner in Plainfield tonight for dinner. I had the French Dip and the Hub had a burger. Surina was our waitress and she was awesome. The food was delicious. Horrible disgusting deep fried food, none of their vegetables are fresh and they aren't cooked anyways. I got the pot roast and first of all the huge raw slab of fatty unflavored meat thing was the worst thing about the meal that is not even to mention the huge pile of terrible extremely salty mashed potatoes and none of the vegetables as I mentioned could very well just came out of a can in the fridge also the entire plate was drenched in a obscene amount of cold meat juice! I have been to both locations, the one at Butler University and the one on 86th Street. Both settings were friendly and warm. It was substantial but tasty: layers of onions and peppers topped by diced potatoes then eggs and topped with 2 cheeses! Additional protein/ meat is optional but not necessary, in my opinion. I love the Metro Diner! We've enjoyed it on several occasions. Just make sure you have plenty of time, it was packed on the times we dined in. The food has always been very yummy, and we always order something different! Daughter loves their grilled cheese and I like the sandwich with aus jus. but like I said, we've ordered several menu items and never been let down. Some have said it's expensive, but I disagree. I used to love this place. It was my go to spot for a meatloaf dinner. I went here in January of 2019. Had the meatloaf it was awful. Some of my coworkers convinced me to give it another try. I went back and had the meatloaf again and it was very very good. I went back on 03/24/2019, and the meatloaf was awful AGAIN. The meatloaf is the only thing I would eat on the menu. (I don't like breakfast food at all.) The food is too inconsistent! Sometimes the gravy is very bland, other times the gravy is too salty. I am not a fan of this place anymore. This Plainfield location is the worst one. I've never had any issue with the south location. read more

We met our family here for breakfast. Not only was there an insect on our eggs, the server and management were quite rude trying to insist it was grill marks. Um, 3 of us at the table saw legs on this insect. We have all worked in the restaurant business at one time, and making excuses, and being rude to the customers is NOT the approach to take with anyone.
