Ambiance may be more inviting to the ladies with its fresh, bright, layout and decorating but it's still a place most guys would enjoy too. I will start with the food. The biscuits and gravy were good. I had to sample a cinnamon roll that I ordered to go. It was amazing. The staff were very nice. Tucked away spot on 776 near Sam's in Port Charlotte, ample parking, Zoe's serves homemade breakfast and lunch items as well as bakery goods. The restaurant is a no frills spot, ambience was extremely noisy with customers chatter, and the wait service time was lengthy. Service was slow and a little chaotic, it seems they are trying to resolve that issue by the hiring help sigh outside the entry. Having said that breakfast menu is stopped at eleven am, so beware if your a late morning breakfast person. The food is absolutely delicious and so well prepared. Wife had Quiche and I chose their Cobb--ish salad. We were delighted and will go back again, hopefully management can resolve their help issue as it is a little annoying. My basic breakfast & my husband's omelet were both delicious & I got a s'mores coffee that I can almost still taste. Yum! The staff were friendly & never stopped moving. It's clean & the displays with the baked goods are endless temptations but I liked it as I was able to really look at everything & think about what I would like to take home with zero pressure. Saturday noonish and we popped in based on positive reviews. We were immediately greeted by a lively, enthusiastic, sweet and knowledgeable young woman who made us feel at home. The menu is extensive with great breakfast and lunch options. Breakfast hours had passed so we choose to share a perfectly prepared quiche Lorraine with side salad (with their house blood orange vinaigrette, which was AMAZING) and a Turkey club. The food was so delicious, well prepared, perfectly portioned and nicely served. We had coffee and mimosas and then shared a raspberry square for dessert! No pic's because we devoured it all so fast! My daughter and I had just been saying that most places are just "ok" and then we experienced this lovely restaurant where everything was just wonderful. I cannot wait to return!! Was not able to order breakfast at noon, even thought the menu had breakfast on it. They are only capable of doing waffles or French toast. So we left because i wanted breakfast at a breakfast place. The last i was there, they refused to seat me and my dad at a table for 6 which was the last table. We had no problem letting another 2 people sit at the other end. Will not be returning. I'm not sure about the food, but the bakery items are not fresh. The sign has custom cakes and baked goods. I went in for a quick treat. 9:00 asked for a blueberry muffin they had 3 different ones in the showcase, not much more. I was hoping they had sold out due to being busy. My muffin was still FROZEN! I knew the muffin was cold and thought it was odd to be so cold and ... well I was driving. I took a big bite and got a hard blueberry. I was hungry so I turned around and went back, she apologized and said she baked them last night and froze them. I highly doubt they were baked last night. I've been patronizing this restaurant since they opened. Since Ian destroyed my home my visits to Port Charlotte have been few and far between. Today I brought my new neighbor there for lunch. She had the turkey club and I had the mushroom Swiss burger with tangled onions. I asked for lettuce on the burger. We both had water to drink. We sat there for 15 minutes after they cleared our table waiting for the bill. I finally went up to pay without seeing the bill. Our server said it was $33.93 and turned the screen so I could leave a tip. The tip choices went from 22% to 30% and other. I chose 30% for outstanding service. That brought my total to $43.47. When I got home I looked at the bill thinking that was pretty high for a turkey sandwich and burger. There was a customer service charge of $1.22, an up charge of $1.50 for the tangled onions, which I was told there would be an up charge, and $1.29 for one piece of lettuce for my burger, I wasn't informed that to add a "vegetable" there would be a charge nor did I see where a customer service charge would be added on the menu. This is petty to me. I won't be going back there anytime soon. I know it won't hurt them one bit, the place was packed when we arrived. I just don't like to be nit picked for every little thing. And $1.29 for not even a whole piece of lettuce is just too much for me. A little ridiculous imo. read more
