Normally a great place, but today a disaster because of a new woman on the counter who was trying to wait on everyone at once and it all backfired and everyone had to take MUCH longer than usual and she was VERY rude about it. The food is good, but the service is quite rushed, and not in a good New-York-time-is-valuable rushed. The guy running the salad area barked questions at me which I could not understand. Also, I asked for no chicken on my salad and got chicken anyway. I ordered a smoothie as well. They keep the ingredients in plastic cups in a cooler, which the customer has to retrieve and hand to clerk. Working or living in New York City we are always looking for a new place to have something to eat. We are going from one place to another between meetings or locations. Maybe it is coffee and something for breakfast. Or maybe it is something for lunch. Maybe we can even get something we can grab and take it to the office, put it in the fridge, and then take it home for a light dinner. That can be the way we live over here. We know what we like. We know we are always looking for something new and different. We hear from friends. Or we see it as we walk by. And if you are in midtown near 57th Street, you can find something as you go from the East side to the West side. Welcome to METRO MARCHE. It is a new place that is not too large, but is big enough to stop in and see what they have to order so you can grab and go. It is open when you are open and heading on. When it is time for lunch it is time to go out and find something to enjoy. You can stop at Metro Marche and see what is available. It is always what you might expect. There are sandwiches, salads, plates that you select what you will have. It is all available when you decide. For me, I placed my order. Took my items. Left and headed to an office to have my lunch. It is fairly what is expected when you visit such an establishment. This is not a sit down restaurant. I did have a Greek Salad to start. It was fresh and traditional in a sense. Having been to Greece I know what to expect. This was fairly close on that. It did have lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, red peppers and red onions. There was also feta cheese. This was topped with olive oil and red wine vinegar. It was fresh. It has the right flavor. I did request some additional items, as was customary in a Greek restaurant, but that was not available when I was here for lunch. Naturally, if you do not take a pre-made salad you can make your own salad. They have a variety of items to choose from. Lettuce. Tomatoes. Mets. Spices. Cheese. Salad dressings and more. It is all here for you to make the salad you want and can enjoy when you have a place to sit. I also requested a Cuban Sandwich. This was fresh and homemade. But a little different as well. Having been to Cuba I have had an original Cuban Sandwich, It normally was not served with turkey. This one had turkey. It was made the same way. It did have cheese on top and the entire sandwich was melted. But not to the same level as an authentic Cuban Sandwich. This was tasty, however. It was flavored well. And it was a good portion. When I arrived back to have this sandwich I melted it a bit more to what I am familiar with. The Market Table selection is like being at a market where you can make a selection of what to purchase and take with you for later. There is a variety to choose from. There are vegetables, rice, tofu or chicken, or salmon or shrimp. There are even some sauces you can top it with if you want. And, there is even a selection of some side salads you can pick from. It is your choice what you select. When you arrive at Metro Marche you are ready to order. Even in the morning I was able to stop in and get a coffee. I wanted to have a triple espresso (which is normal for me) but they did not have that. I ordered a regular cup of coffee and headed out. Metro Marche has not been around that long. It is in a perfect location that other establishments have enjoyed. The staff is friendly and can service those who visit for something to enjoy. There was no large crowd when I was there, so that was easy. This is New York after all. It is famous for fast food places you can run in and then run out with something to eat. They might look the same. When you see one you see them all. Now or even later. It is up to you. The price is reasonable here. The quantity of the offering is as expected. This is not a large portion you might find in some other places. This is not a deli for a sandwich you might expect from one. This is a little more gourmet in their offerings. It is a place you can march into. Or a place you can look at and then march by it. It is New York after all. read more

Metro Marché isn't new favorite spot in the midtown east area! I have tried their Avocado Tuna Sandwich and the Spicy Asian Chicken Salad. The tuna sandwich had a good amount of avocado in it and the right amount of crunch - and it wasn't delivered soggy like most other places! The Spicy Asian Chicken Salad was better than other salad options in midtown - unlike Sweetgreen (always skimping on portions), this salad had enough in the bowl to feed two; I had to empty the salad into a bigger bowl at home in order to mix everything properly. The salad dressing was also in a deeper cup which I appreciated and all the ingredients were fresh. The chicken was also plentiful and nicely seasoned. Major thumbs up for Metro Marché! read more

Ordinary cafe with a cheese danish that was unappetizing. Where are the luscious cheese danishes of yesteryear. I used to enjoy them from a small bakery in Queens and that is now just a memory. I took a Cortado and then a Banana Walnut Muffin which was far tastier and fresh. I was looking for Mangia which had closed and moved opposite on West 57th Street but had not yet opened so this was a place to have a quick refreshment. The service was friendless quick. Really nice casual spot near Central Park with alot of fresh and quality ingredients for a quick balanced meal. This place has sandwiches, snacks, soups, salads, and a really awesome looking market plate with many choices sort of like Dig Inn. I got the market plate with sweet potato, broccoli, chicken, and brown rice. The food was really tasty and price was affordable, ~$15 for a bowl. I love that there were so many colors. This is one of the best fast casual lunch options in the area. Generous portions, fast service, and most importantly, really delicious food. Everything has a home-cooked taste. The vegetables are fresh, the seasoning is right, the meat is not overcooked and nothing tastes processed. The salads are the best in the area in my opinion. Walked by a million times and one day decided to go in and finally see their menu. Thought it'd just be like chopt or justsalad but it was SO MUCH BETTER! More like a fancy dig inn x sweetgreen -- with market plates. got a bowl with shrimp and veggies (sweet potato and brocolli) and and extra side of mac and cheese. nice staff, clean space, decent amount of seating. tbh I hoped it was busier at prime lunchtime in midtown bc I hope they stay in business! normal price for bowls. so happy this is here now and think more people should try it!!!! read more
