I like Mangia, the food and selection have been good, and the service reasonably fast. Though it can be crowded at times, bordering on crazy, it's a great place to get good, "faster" food. Some of this is made earlier in the day and then warmed up, as was my panini on this visit: RUSTICO PANINO: ham, cheddar, tomatoes, mushroom aioli, on house-made focaccia. I had this grilled, and it was substantial and tasty. This is just one of the many choices available here, they have numerous counters (stations) where you can custom order breakfast, lunch or an early dinner. They have limited seating, though I've always managed to score one of their small tables. They offer an extensive takeout and are close to the park, so I'm going to try that on my next visit. As faster food options go, this is a great place. I look forward to returning.

I stopped in to Mangia to grab some lunch, and the place was bustling. I ordered a Chicken Salad sandwich and a can of Pellegrino. My sandwich was tasty, but the bread was a bit hard. $19.05 for lunch seems a bit steep. Thank U next!

Fabulous Hazelnut croissant! Walked up to the counter and they made my Latte to order without a long wait. When you walk in there's only 5 high top seats, but there are tables outside.

I've been thinking of Mangia often since moving out of Manhattan because they were truly my IDEAL lunch/dinner spot, and I ate there many more times since my initial review. It's perfect for office lunches, catering orders, and they have an array of healthier and dietary-restriction friendly options. Gotta go for breakfast AND lunch/dinner to experience both amazing menus. I see some of the reviews are ridiculous imo and Mangia deserves way higher than their current rating. Daily specials menu of soups, apps, sides, entrees, pastas, etc along with seasonal desserts/dishes/business collaborations. Currently (Spring 2025) they have a fun collab with Floratorium -- the cakes with floral arrangements I saw online are gorgeous! Yes, I literally visit the "Order Now" section of their site because I appreciate a restaurant that posts photos of items and they have a photo for EVERYTHING. Photographer on point every time! I've tried a wide assortment from both menus but my favorites are the grilled salmon entree w/ 2 sides and ALL of the vegetarian & pescatarian soups so far. Omg... Clearly homemade, each with an amazing depth of flavor. Soups I've had: spicy corn, butternut squash, vegan cauliflower, broccoli cheddar, potato leek (I believe), moroccan lentil, roasted tomato w/ eggplant, shrimp bisque. A piece of baguette on the side is a must for this European -- theirs is perfectly crispy yet chewy. I didn't realize how often they added new items/switched up items until I looked earlier! Huge fan of their retail items too (balsamic and oil, bento box, tote, mugs, and more available). + unique smoothies and pressed juices all day. Their website is also awesome because they have a Recipe Book available so you can recreate the food sold in store. Super cool b/c who else does that?! Come and support this LOCAL NYC business (with a few diff locations) that's been around for quite some time now, and keeps refreshing/revamping to remain a gem amongst the hectic and often lousy midtown dining scene. Other Recommendations: any desserts especially the flourless chocolate or Signature cookies, Blue Power smoothie, Caesar salad, roasted teriyaki salmon salad, penna alla vodka (super basic but great), vegetarian pizza. I only wish they offered a couple of other sides!

    I don't know

Elena C, I direct this review to you as the owner. I cannot recall the last time I had a tasteless slop of a sandwich you call Prosciutto Cotto. It is not Prosciutto and if it really is, it is of the lowest quality. Just simply awful and not edible.

Came here to get my dad a chai and he normally doesn't like outside chai. But this place really did great work. The chai was approved and thoroughly enjoyed!! Service was friendly and chai was warm and delicious!

Horrible coffee! Left me waiting because the coffee machine did not make coffee drip properly so they gave me a water down espresso.
    Liana D.

Bad experience they don't understand English wanted my sandwich wrapped in tinfoil and couldn't do it and they have no half-and-half. Food is horrible and prices are very high and quality is low. No half/half for a coffee place is pretty much a big deal. Spend the money and have it for your clients. I've been going to Managia for over 15 years and it's an overpriced and not worth it. New coffee shops open down the block better and cheaper and have half/half. Sorry your employees didn't understand English. 100 truths. I've been working in this area for over 20 years. Sorry to say it's a waste of money

    Annika K.

This cute little bakery had so many options - somehow I decided to go with pizza. This was so filling and loved the mushrooms and their chewy texture. Wish it had more pesto and maybe lemon and basil to really add flavors. Also the pizza wasn't as cheesy as I usually prefer but nevertheless i was very happy i also got a cookie and it was chefs kiss so good and sweet - been craving a dessert for so long! will come back to try their hot plates

Bright, lively small cafe w counter service. Small sandwiches and treats. Good espresso drinks- strong but smooth. Reasonable pricing. Stations in the back offered hot entrees like penne alla vodka that looked great. Quick option for quality food or just a coffee break. No Wi-Fi.

Love this place. Everything is super fresh n clean n yummy looking. There self serve salad station, sandwich station, coffee. In a nice day you can sit outside n people watch. I wish they had more locations.

    Chicken salad sandwich
    Estralda T.

The selections presented something for everyone. Given that am not a "bread for lunch"kinda gal, honestly speaking, I won't mind repeating the Chicken salad sandwich. Even the vegetarians among us had choices. Honorable mention- the bread. A little crunch on the outside, melt on your tongue soft on the inside. Oooo I could just imagine what some warmth and butter would do! The salads were ok as well. I can see why Mangia is a viable lunch destination option.

Recommend as an app - Union Square bento: honestly, wish this came in a real bento box. Seems like a miss, but I suppose separate plates give you more volume. Good to add as a side to whatever else you get. Cabbage was the best of the trio. - rice bowl: squash and rice were solid, but the shrimp was the standout here! Very flavorful shrimp. Not sure how they packed so much flavor into the little bites of them - fried chicken thighs: I mean, yes. They're juicy. They're fried excellently. The side sauces are creative and great for vinegar-lovers like me I also got the carrot cocktail which was ultra smooth and had the right amount of dill flavor. We got two cookies to go which were divine. I'd get them to stay to try it with the oolong milk next time, but we had to run. The service was friendly, courteous. Ambiance was trendy but not uptight. The concept is similar to Chipotle, where you build your own meal by choosing a protein, grain, sauce, and toppings. I created a bowl with white rice, caramelized steak, broccoli, and pesto, and paired it with a strawberry mint lemonade. The portion size was enormous--I easily could have stretched it into three meals. Even better, the food tasted just as good as it looked. The pesto added a ton of flavor, and while I usually pair pesto with chicken, it worked surprisingly well with the caramelized steak. The strawberry mint lemonade was also refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly. My only criticism is the lack of seating. There are only a handful of stools and one small table, and every seat was occupied when we visited, so we had to take our food elsewhere to eat. If they had a bit more seating, the experience would have been even better. None of that here now with 4, albeit generous, seats facing the window: The expectation now is that during the lunch rush, you're going straight back to your desk or, if it's nice outside, sit outside (so a great use of the car-free section of Broadway). I had the Hot Chicken Plate: It was the special for folks with the SG app so I thought, why not. I picked double quinoa, blackened chicken, sweet potato and everything else you can see in my photo. The warm quinoa and the chicken were fantastic: You know SG is making a play for Chipotle's customers by offering what's basically a rice base with a chicken and salad topping. I was not a fan of the spicy broccoli which I found too salty. If you overload your plate with toppings it will easily go over the Chipotle price point: You'll know what's happening now that you have to enter it all in yourself on one of 3 tablets at the counter that divides the public from the kitchen. Can't wait to see the lunch crowd at the new spot!
