The food here is so healthy! I love having fast healthy options nearby. This place serves meat, but I was able to find several vegan options too. I was delighted with the freshness and diversity of the ingredients in my dish. I couldn't have been more excited to dig in until the cashier rung up my order! For one plate I paid over $20! To make a decent vegan plate, I had to order 4 sides. I guess this added up. I definitely cannot afford to eat here on the regular, but I do recommend the food. read more

MetroFresh reminds me of the cold bar/salad area at Whole Foods. I like that they change up their menu daily and it's definitely affordable if you don't have time to cook, feel lazy but still want to eat healthy, etc. All the food is already pre-made so the line moves pretty quickly if you are strapped for time at lunch or something. Everything is priced by plate, so you can get 1 item for $5.50, or 2 items for $10.00 on the same plate. This is perfect for the indecisive person (read -- me) because I just want to try everything. Their lunch special is also a pretty good deal -- 2 menu items, a drink, and a cookie for about $12. I ended up getting the spring mix salad berries and goat cheese, the peach and chicken salad, the duck cassoulet, and half of the heirloom tomato, avocado and goat cheese sandwich. My favorite item was probably the spring mix salad, but I have been missing greens in my life lately so I could be biased. I really liked the earthiness of the spring mix paired with the sweet and tart berries. The goat cheese also adds a really nice creaminess to the mixture. The duck cassoulet was really tasty and I'm not usually a fan of having lots of things in my soups. I mostly prefer broth, but this was really well made. I had mixed feelings about the sandwich. The actual ingredients were great together but I really wish the bread was toasted or not as thick. My least favorite item was probably the chicken salad. Everything was certainly fresh, and delicious. I didn't realize the sandwiches are served in halves, though (totally wasn't paying attention while they bagged my order). The Sarah's Special is a flavorful blend of pulled pork, black beans, onions, peppers, over a bed of sweet potatoes and topped with fried eggs and mildly spicy roasted red pepper aioli. I would definitely order this dish again! We shared an order of Avocado Toast. This was multigrain bread topped with Guacamole basically. This was the reason for the 4 stars. Nothing special. The thing I love about this place is you dont know what the menu is going to be because they change it every day. Went to MetroFresh for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant is at the edge of Virginia Highlands and close to Piedmond Park. The place is known for its healthy food. For lunch they had salads and sandwiches. The most popular by far of the sandwiches was a turkey wrap. You can get them either as a full sandwich or half with a side "salads". The sides are fresh vegetable "salads". Everything is made fresh and the the taste is great. Great variety, taste and it is also healthy:-) The restaurant has in-door and out-door seating (the patio is not large, but OK). The setting is bright and overall a great way to have lunch. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees are all available. We came here for dinner on a dreary evening and had soup and salad with kombucha. I did not magically turn into a knob of turmeric and detox my body. It was just good food. Basically healthy yet delicious food without the 'California cuisine' pretense or some skinny person promising you detox food that's supposed to cure cancer. Touring Atlanta we stopped here thinking to have a fresh, homemade meal. Well, yes and no. Metro fresh advertises with fresh, sometimes locally produced, fresh made products. And that's correct for most of the items. The soups and the salads. But unfortunatelly not for the sandwiches. On the day we dropped by there were only two choices in sandwiches. And it turned out: both made earlier, pre wrapped and terribly cold. The soup on the other hand was very tasteful and fresh made. But the sandwiches were such a dissapointment. Because of the cold, or the pre wrapping hardly any taste. So if you're in for a soup or salad, this is the place to be. If you're looking for sandwiches, don't go here. Most supermarkt deli's do a better job. And excuse any grammar and spelling mistakes. English is not my first language. The employees are very nice and helpful, and they quickly gave me a new bowl. While the second bowl of soup was hotter than the first, it still wasn't at the temperature I prefer. I also got a turkey sandwich, which was tasty, but overall I think at $12 for a soup and small sandwich it was overpriced. This is the first restaurant I've ventured out to solo during my 6 days in Atlanta. I came here on a Saturday afternoon, hoping to grab a quick bite so I wouldn't grocery shop on an empty stomach. It was pretty empty - one party in side and two out in the patio, and they were playing jay-z. The vibe inside matches the name, I think. Modern decor with updated wood furniture. I liked it a lot. I ordered the Thai trail mix salad which is a cold salad with diced and chopped carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, peanuts, mango, and a Thai peanut dressing. It was really great combination of textures and delicious flavors, and tastes really bright and fresh. The salad cost 6.50 with tax and I originally thought it was small portion for the price when I first saw it served on a plate. However, I found the salad itself to be quite filling and I didn't realize that it's one of those order several items for a certain amount type of place (i.e. one item for $6, two items for $11, three for $14.5). You can include a soup or sandwich as one of the items which I wish I had known before placing my order. I think given how filling the salad was, it was overall a good value. Also, I like that there were vegan options. I was sure I'd never be able to eat out during my time in Atlanta so this was a fine surprise. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because the prices are moderate, yet I feel a bit too high for what is offered, and the food is nothing spectacular. Yes, you will find something there that you like, and yes, it will probably taste good, but it's not one if those "omg-nomnomnom-i-just-found-my-food-soulmate" experiences. It's good. Period. Wow, I was reading my original review today and was shocked at how much I used to admire this place. I swallowed the facade hook line and sinker, but a year into my ATL stay I basically don't even go here anymore. At some point they started refusing to honor simple requests. I'll give you an example. Their menu changes daily. Sweet, right? (Not really. It may change every day, but the truth is it changes every day for 7 days and then come Monday it just starts back over, so if you go in every day for 7 days you'll see a different menu, but if you go in every week on the same day you're going to see the same menu every time.) The changes themselves are mundane and uninspired, as in the breakfast burrito: store bought flavorless spinach tortilla with scrambled eggs, cheese, spinach, and the meat of the day. I always used to order a burrito with no meat, because in their infinite wisdom the ever-changing menu doesn't ever include a meatless burrito. Now though, they won't even make a burrito and leave off the meat. So imagine, me coming in and asking them if they will please omit the most costly element in the burrito and her saying flatly, "Nope." I'm, sorry, I think I just came in and basically offered to pay you $8 for $1.10 worth of food and you said nope... Obvious conclusion is that the food is pre-made. Kind of a drag... So, below is my original review. As usual it is filled with my honest observations punctuated by my original joy of eating here, and so as not to be vindictive I'll leave the insights, but the descriptors have all been amended and any changes I've made will be in parentheses. Anyone who can make kale yummy is a (professional cook) as far as I'm concerned. Its apparent everything on the menu is made with (food), and I (used to) go here every chance I get, which basically means breakfast and/or lunch two days a week. The menu changes daily but consists of about a half dozen breakfast options until 11, and about as many salads, sandwiches, and full blown dinner entrees. Prices are reasonable considering everything on the menu is (food) and probably at least one of the following: local, organic, sustainable, recyclable, fairly traded, filtered, hormone free, or eco-conscious. The decor is cute and looks expensive. The chairs and barstools all have backs and the tables don't wobble. These are hallmarks of a good (dining room) to me. The patio is clean and comfortable and has a designated "dog park-ing" lol. Even knowing that I could get a deep-fried, bacon-wrapped Twinkie just down the way in the same strip mall, I would be fittingly sated after meals here. MetroFresh is an unexpectedly trendy lunch spot near Piedmont Park. However, despite the fun concept, I wasn't completely blown away by the quality of the food. We have passed this place many times, and decided to stop in for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Its location in a run-of-the-mill shopping center belies it's delightful interior, with clean white surfaces and California-cool vibes. The menu was varied and reasonably vegetarian friendly, with choices of various salads, soup, sandwiches and assorted deli items, along with an interesting breakfast/brunch menu. I ordered the lentil soup, which was actually very good, and the quinoa cauliflower salad, which was less good- a bit bland and in need of some salt. She ordered the kale salad, which was fine, and the vegetarian sandwich, comprised of brie, apples and arugula on focaccia, which was pre-made, a bit dry and not suited to either of our tastes. We also had glasses of a crisp vinho verde- their wine menu was very large and a welcome, if not strange, addition in a deli setting. A plus was the friendly service on the covered patio. I now wash my hands of this place. I have walked in here the past 2 Fridays in a row hoping to get score some Matzah Ball Soup. Both times the sign outside as well as the sign inside said "Chicken Matzoh Ball Soup". Both times I came in at about 5 pm. Both times they had chicken soup, that contained nothing but matzah ball fragments. The guy this last time said "sorry we run out". MetroFresh is the Souper Jenny of Midtown, offering delicious, fresh, overpriced salads, soups and sandwiches. The menu rotates daily with usually divine choices. I most recently attacked a salad comprising mixed field greens, squash, peppers, mushrooms and goat cheese, dotted with the most delicious basil vinaigrette. I wish MetroFresh sold that by the bottle! I envied my mother's salad: baby spinach, juicy blackberries, kiwi, blueberries and shaved Parmesan. MetroFresh makes sandwich preparation look easy, but I can never recreate the seemingly simple turkey on a pita, or ham on a soft roll. You get what you pay for: chic sandwiches, snobby soups and salads dripping with elan (and dressing). read more

A disappointment. Really expensive for what you get. The girl behind the counter was talking to us and scratching her arm over our two plates. My fish was good enough--but overcooked and my boyfriend's chicken mole was not really a mole except by name.employees were nice. Each dish comes with a side, neither of our sides was half as good as a side you might get in the Whole Foods buffet. The price was $15.96 per dish which is ludicrous when comparing quality and price to places like Superica (where gourmet steak tacos are $15.95) or Gios Chicken (where a huge plate of perfectly juicy lemon chicken, or a clean fresh plate of pasta is also $15.95 both of which come with an exquisite side salad). If you are going to charge these prices, then you need to step up your game. We'll probably never eat here again. Service was nice and the space was clean (and almost empty because people probably know better than to eat here). Free parking in the TJs parking lot. I think Atlantian Yelpers are too generous with their ratings and some places like MetroFresh have raving reviews which is a huge disappointment when someone actually goes and eats here. read more

This is exactly the type of place I like to eat at for lunch. I'm a huge fan of Souper Jenny, but it's too much of a drive to go often. Metro Fresh is a great substitute, and it's within walking distance of my place in Midtown. I subscribe to their daily emails, and it's fun to read over their always-changing menu. I'm a health nut and have always wanted to try prepared salads at restaurants, but most places usually offer only heavy mayonnaise-based chicken and tuna salads. Metro Fresh is one of the only places I've had trouble picking just two of their options! A triple combo plate costs $12 (without a drink), so I try to stick with the 2-sides for $7.70. It's a fresh, light lunch that doesn't leave me feeling guilty, bloated, and ready for a nap. All in all, it's good, healthy food that changes daily, the service is professional and friendly, and the prices are ok. This place was yummy! The menu changes every day (?). I think. So, you walk in and they have the day's selection on a chalkboard. Everything is pre-made, so you can see what you're ordering. The prices may seem just a tad high, but the portions are HUGE. They have a nice assortment of things, so there is something for everyone. I just happened to be carbin' it up the day I went with a friend, so I ordered half a sandwich (with goat cheese and avocado) and some noodle yums (with mushrooms and Asian/sesame dressing). On the other side, my friend is a rabbit and ordered a salad with chicken. Okay, an omnivorous rabbit. They probably served her, like, two and a half chicken breasts, so she had left overs. I am so disappointed in the customer service at this restaurant. I love the food and have been a loyal customer for years but I sent an email to management twice regarding their soup container lids. They were not secured twice causing two of three containers spilling, staining my car flooring and I ended up with 1/8 of the amount of soup in both containers! This happened twice - both times it was the broth that was the issue. Fast forward, I went in today and mentioned it to someone whom I guess was management and his response "yes, we've had problems with the lids fitting properly." He didn't apologize, offer a gift card, just nothing! Keep in mind this is about $25 worth of broth that was spilled! Metro Fresh, please do better by your customers. So disappointed read more

When the days become October-dreary, it's time for a revitalizing bowl of soup. Rated one of Atlanta's best places for a cheery dish, I am pleased to agree with the reviews. While I wanted to try everything on their daily-updated menu, I opted for the Chicken Provencal Soup and a Tomato and Avocado Sandwich on Kalamata Olive Bread with Feta Spread and Baby Arugula. I was craving Chicken Noodle Soup, but MetroFresh's version was more than satisfying. Chunks of stewed tomato mingled with soft shredded chicken and a smattering of olives, which added a subtle saltiness. The sandwich was equally satisfying and so big I could only eat half of it. Rather than mayonnaise, a creamy layer of feta spread added an earthy zing to round out the mellow avocado. (Of course, the kalamata olive bread was a nice compliment to the soup, too.) If I had room for dessert, and the line wasn't so long, I would have tried the banana bread. It looked moist and well-studded with walnuts. A word about arrival: Get there just before noon, otherwise you will have a bit of wait. However, service in general seemed speedy and the staff accommodating. In addition to offering fresh food and quick service, MetroFresh is also low-key. They use real dishes, which keep things homey, and there are a smattering of small clean tables that await those who want to dine-in.
