The menu definitely was overwhelming with A LOT of different options! Waitress was very honest with us and her recommendations were very spot on, I wish I could remember her name to give her the shoutout she deserves. I'm a big fan of Metropol. Although it's a chain restaurant, it's Puerto Rican classics and they're done very well. If you want Mofongo, picadillo, or one of their daily specials (highly recommended), this is a great place. I've been to several locations and they are all really good. Highly recommended! read more

Metropol is a Puerto Rican version of Claim Jumpers in the states. If you've all been the claim jumpers you know that the food there she's huge and it actually taste good. This is what happens when big Puerto Rican food and big portions becomes a place to go. Located in the mall in Barceloneta or Manati this is a really nice restaurant and worth taking families and friends to. Please keep in mind the portions here or large. Nothing is made small so if you're looking for a light meal and you're not feeling hungry don't go here. But if you're looking to stuff your face with a lot of food and a lot of Puerto Rican and Cuban food, be my guest. Is This the best Puerto Rican food on the island? No. But is a good? Yes. The service is OK again the service is not memorable. I was a little bit surprised because generally Puerto Rican hospitality is important. Came on a Friday night. I must admit I usually do not give 5 stars out that easy but this place deserved one. When we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hosted who offered us seating at the restaurant or bar. We were seated in the restaurant instantly and a server was to us instantly. I got the steak and was very impressed with the black rice and beans. Better than I've had it anywhere in the States. (Bold claim but I put merit behind it) The server was wonderful. I didn't get her name but she knew my Spanish needed work to she tried to assist me with learning while ordering. Prices were very reasonable. The ambiance was comfortable. The restaurant is located in a plaza with a few outlet stores and a movie theater. Parking is available. I was only in Manati for one night but if I return I will be sure to grab a meal at Metropol. read more

This is a late review but definitely one of my favorite places to eat during my vacation in Puerto Rico. The table shared 2 plates of appetizer samplers with fried 0lantains, fried chicken chunks, marinated flank steak and fried pork. The entire plate was quite tasty. Personal favorite is the fried pork. Followed this with a traditional margarita that was quite passable. The bacailatos were very good and then mixed seafood mozingo. The seafood was flavorful, plentiful and the proper textures. I had a side of red beans and rice. Very good. I tried the congri that one of the other had. The congri was really good. At first we thought it was a basic eatery/restaurant; but were delightfully surprised to fine a great looking establishment that scream high end cuisine but was not suit and tie (all patrons were dress casual). Nice location and very comfortable dinning area. We were a group of 7 and the server was charming, sympathetic and well mannered. I had the mero fish with congri rice and yellow plantains, the flavor were over the top. My husband had the chicken breast filled with mashed yuca with mamposteao rice, wonderful. Wait staff should be made aware that this restaurant is located in a highly travelled tourist destination with the Outlet Mall right next door so they should step their game up. You never know when an out of towner with a itchy Yelp review finger is visiting your establishment. I think they bank on the fact that the name makes the place sound better than it really is. First time here and I would LOVE to come back. The waitress was awesome and the staff was as amazing as the food. I had churrasco while others order a lobster and a "tortilla" (with potatoes and chorizo). No complaints on the food (they serve more than a person should eat so it's an abundance of food). My only complaint (if that) was the wait for the food, but then again can you really complain if they take the time to cook the food right with great flavor? The table was never dry and they kept bringing drinks when they were needed. Definitely recommend the mega mojito if you can handle it,lol. read more

I came with my family during Memorial's day for a late lunch. We had a sirloin with congri rice which was very good. The palomilla biftec with cassava was ok, in comparison to the metropol at isla verde which has a lot of flavor. A little salt was needed. This review is for the bar only. I did not order food. I speak broken Spanish but the bartender was able to communicate with me easily and spoke slowly to me. She was very nice and helpful. The drinks were indeed generously poured. I only knocked off 2 stars because after 8, they supposedly raise the drink prices. I was excited to try to local Cuban chain but it was a costly disappointment. The appetizer sampler was terrible: the calamari tasted fishy (and you only get 5 rings), the fish sticks were bland and there were breaded shrimp that I guess was supposed to be an empanadas. The shrimp was good after you separated it from its huge bread coating but I would hardly call it an empanada. The cubanijto was delicious and our server was good. I ordered the Metropol Punch which was good. However, my appetizer was a no go. Out came with shrimp empinadad, calamari and some sort of fish stick thing. The fish stick tasted like it came straight from a Van de Kamp box. The calamari was flavorless. The shrimp empanada was basically a giant breaded shrimp.
