    Chicharrón y arroz con gandules

Stopped in for lunch after shopping. The service was great, food delicious and atmosphere welcoming! Will visit again.

Going in, I was mostly worried about the service, since that was the item many reviews complained about. I was pleasantly surprised by a very friendly waitress. She have us some recommendations and as a result we all liked the food we got. Metropol definitely has a lot of choices. Location was pretty good too, near the SJ Mall

Food was good. I got the whole chicken stuffed with rice. The white meat was a bit dry on the chicken, but the dark meat was good and had good flavor. Rice was great.

Metropol at the Airport was just okay. The chain restaurant had been recommended at the Sheraton in Condado, so we tried it here for lunch. Maybe we were spoiled having eaten delicious cruise foods all week. Known for its Mofongo I liked it with the chicken with the Creole sauce and veggies. Hubby rated it 5 of 10. (Mofongo is starchy and filling. It's the native dish of Puerto Rico. You may or may not like it. The dish is easily shareable.) Friends got the Appetizer Sampler choosing the fried (Bread?) cheese and meat turnovers (like empanadas) which we all liked. The ham croquettes...no. Crunchy on the outside, mushy ground ham on the inside. The half Cornish Hen was good. The red beans were okay. The bowl of Ground Beef was different with the Creole seasoning. I saw the Metropol salad at another table and it looked delicious. Check out the menu. This airport restaurant was busy.

It's a bit of a wait outside but it's a nice atmosphere. I wouldn't sit near the road because of the car exhaust but they do have an indoor option. I suggest eating inside as there are flies which makes eating a bit uncomfortable. The food here is very good. I just had the empanadas and the dough was flaky and the beef inside was well seasoned. The service was great. I have to follow up with another review when we sit down for lunch or dinner.

Came here because we also wanted to check out the Mall of San Juan. When we arrived, we were seated immediately and chose inside. This was the only restaurant we came to where they actively took away tables to ease the crowds for Covid-19 safety measures. It took awhile before they came to take our order. We ordered the menu specials: 1/2 cornish hen with black rice and the tradition Cuban stew, Ajiaco. The corish hen dish was delicious! It does come with a side and we chose the salad which was not good and should have ordered a side of mofongo instead. Now I know, when in doubt, stick with the mofongo. The stew was ok, and it was not hot enough when it came out. We came here to avoid major chain mall restaurants and hopefully next time, I would like to try their other dishes.

I was in town on vacation with my family and honestly this was the worst Puerto Rican food I've had the cheese ball tastes like freezer lemonade tasted like lime water the other two appetizers we had was under cooked we just paid and left went to another spot to eat.

Great service and good Cuban/Puerto Rican food. I enjoyed the bolitas de queso with guava sauce. The mofongo I didn't really like much but it wasn't due to the restaurant quality, I just don't really like mofongo much. It doesn't tastes like much since the plantain used is not sweet. The reason for my choice was to stick to the local dish. My friend ordered the pechuga a la milanesa with salad and it was pretty good. I like how they serve the tomatoes in green/orange term like I remember I would eat in Cuba.

El Platanal is open 24 hours and has daily breakfast and lunch specials until 2 pm. The restaurant has plenty of seating and can accommodate large groups. It's clean and there is plenty of parking in the property. The food was delicious- better than what I ate in Old San Juan! We ordered the ham croquetas, maduros, avocado, the grouper with mojo sauce, and peril al horno. Each dish came arroz con gandules. We had a fresh limade and Bacardi mojito. The portions are huge so this a great place to share and if with a large group to order multiple dishes and have a taste of everything. The lunch specials were $8.99. The taxes though... 10.5%, plus two additional tax charges. The restaurant is open 24 hours so it's a good late night spot!! Definitely coming back. Enjoy!

My husband's friend had one job while we picked up the rental car: find us a restaurant within a few miles that wasn't trending on social media because, Lord knows, those lines are always long. This place was exactly what we were looking for. We ordered the plátano sandwich with churrasco -- yes, plantain instead of bread with skirt steak inside. We also ordered the queso frito, which was delicious on its own. The sandwich was huge and came cut into three pieces, making it more than enough to share between two people. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and it was exactly what we needed after traveling all night. The restaurant was busy and located along a very busy highway/road, but that didn't take away from the experience. We were tired, hungry, and just happy to find a great local spot without a crazy social-media line. Definitely going back! Apparently, they have several locations, and this one was in Carolina. A great first stop for our second Puerto Rico adventure.
