Food 2/10 Service 3/10 Ambiance 9/10 Food did not taste fresh or good The service was slow but I do admit it was crowded this Wednesday at lunch. There is indoor & outdoor seating There's an extensive menu of typical Puerto Rican cuisine items. My friend never got the beans and rice she ordered so she only ate her crema de plátano soup. The maduros I ordered as a side, were a bit hard.

We chose the Metropol after it was recommended by our Uber driver. Although there was a wait, we got lucky and were able to find a place at the bar. Ordered an Old Fashionrd and Puerto Rican Mule. The OF was simply outstanding! The bartenders used Woodford as a standard which was even better. Drinks were reasonably priced at $10 & $12. I ordered the shrimp Mofongo and hubby ordered the skirt steak. The shrimp Mofongo was good and my husband loved the steak and the rice that came with it. The bartenders were super friendly and loved the overall energy of the restaurant. Not to mention - the location can't be beat!

1/2 Cornish Hen with Black rice. Delish!

This place is across the street from the Sheraton Convention Center & Casino. I highly recommend it. I was here a a Friday solo and was seated near the bar. It was very loud at about 4:30PM with folks into their TGIF mood, so I understood and enjoyed the people watching( mostly men) opportunity. I had the very tasty 1/2 Cornish hen which you could pull from the bone with a folk with a black rice. I should not have ordered the green plantains, my 1st time trying the green. I prefer the ripe, I learned so that's on me. The white sangria was the perfect drink to accompany my entree. Service was vey prompt and I got my food sooner than I expected. In the attached photo, I have already shredded the breast portion of the Cornish hen. I took the thigh/leg portion in a togo box, to much food. I asked for hot sauce and got the one shown in my photo. That kicked the flavor up another notch into the Wow category. My bill came to about $20 before taxes and tip. If you omit the Sangria, this dinner would be inexpensive compared to what I am used to.

If you come here and happen to get a server named Roberto, then you are in for a good time! This guy has such a great personality and we were amazed at his beautiful singing voice when he came out singing at one point. The Sampler Criollo is HUGE and a great way to try different items on the menu amongst your group. As for the entrees, they were properly seasoned and cooked well with each respective dish. I enjoyed the seafood stew, but the skirt steak was the best entree and the accompanying rice, beans, and plantains were tasty. The flan was a little too sweet for my liking to enjoy the entire piece, but for sharing it was just fine. I'm not sure if I would have rated this place a 5/5 if it weren't for Roberto's service. The food was good, but didn't blow me away whereas Roberto made it an experience to remember.

We arrived around 9 PM and there was a waitlist. We didn't think we would be able to get in as the place closes at 10. This just speaks to the popularity of the place and they were able to get us in fairly quickly. Service and food were great for the busyness of the restaurant. We both order the Mofongo and they were full of flavor but the meat and plantains were really hard to eat. We are concluding that maybe that is a style of it for this specific restaurant. The chicken wing is worth phenomenal very juicy and very well seasoned.

Located across from the beside the Convention Center, Sheraton Hotel and Districto T-Mobile - you can walk over for a great meal. The restaurant is vibrant, buzzing and stays busy. We sat on the patio to watch the cyclist riding by on a Tuesday evening. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He was working the entire patio so he had to juggle a bunch. He also provided some recommendations on what to eat. We ordered the calamari to start, Steak Mofongo, Fish Tacos, Fries, Lasagna, Rice & Beans, Pepper Steak, House Salad and Maduros for dinner. To drink we had Sangria and a Margarita. Dining with picky teenagers is always a task but we were successful here. They loved their entrees and came back the next day for more! My Pepper Steak was tasty. Paired with rice - it was how I remembered it growing up in the Bronx. This is a local restaurant with a few locations on the island. Definitely worth a visit!

Great service and good food . Menu is Puerto Rican dishes . Enjoy the sampler . Children's cheeseburgers of three was big enough for adult. Enjoyed my steak with egg. Vegetables and plantains were tasty. Enjoyed sitting outdoor with nice breeze.

Pernil (roast pork), moros (black beans and rice) and tostones (twice-fried plantains)...Cuban food craving taken care of!

I went to Metropol for lunch on my first afternoon in San Juan. I was so happy to see they had Cuban offerings, so that's what I went with. I ordered the roast pork with moros (black beans and rice cooked together) and tostones (twice fried plantains). Everything was delicious! The portions are large enough to share, even if you're hungry! Service was a little slow, but efficient and friendly. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area again!

Stopped here while on vacation in PR, Service was ok could have been friendlier given the vibe of being bothered. The food was not so good. we went in for quick bites as we were not very hungry we ordered some appetizers like Bacalaitos (overcooked and super greasy), Wings (overcooked no sauce to dip), Shrimp stuffed Plantains - Tostones rellenos de Camarones( plantains were super salty and hard like cooked for a while and left out for a while before being served). Drinks were the only thing that saved our day, We had a Coconut Mojito and a Sangria Kudos to the bartender. Being in the San Juan convention area I expected better service.

Large portions of tasty food. Had the Sampler Criollo, which is fried diced pork, chopped skirt steak, fried diced chicken and fried plantains. Delicious. And two orders of this was more than enough for five people as a shared appetizer. I had the fried pork chops as my main. Very good but could have used some sauteed onions with it to make it perfect. Service was very good on a crowded Saturday night. Would dine here again if back in the area.

El Conflicto was perfect, all the flavor of a pina colada but without the heaviness of syrups & sugar. This restaurant would be a good first stop for authentic local cuisine. My favorites: * Skirt steak with rice and beans * Pork riblets with honey and rum * Fried cheese topped with a fruit sauce * Avocado-tomato salad * Drunken chicken made from local beer and honey * Chocolate cake with ice cream * Goat cheese and honey flan The only dishes I did not like were ones with octopus in them, like the Chorizo and Octopus Stew and the Seaside Salad. The octopus was chewy and rock hard in both. One person from our group was a vegetarian. Although there was no vegetarian entree on the menu, the staff made her a big plate of delicious cilantro rice with a large side of the avocado-tomato salad and fried plantains. Those of us who were not vegetarians liked her dish so much that we had to order a second plate for her. My only feedback for Casita Miramar is that they should answer their phones and E-mails. I had left multiple messages on voicemail and E-mail in both English and Spanish to modify a reservation, but those were never answered. I guess you will just have to stick with whatever the online Resy system gives you.

The sangria however, was not great. It just tasted like juices that don't really work together. I couldn't taste the wine. We ordered the roasted pork and skirt steak. The steak was really tasty, and juicy. But the roasted pork was very dried and hard. It had some good bits in it but there were quite a few pieces that were too cooked to eat. The rice and beans were cooked very well. This is the perfect place for quick local food where you won't spend too much. But if you want a very high quality, I would choose elsewhere.

We were able to snag a reservation but for a late time which was about an hour and a half before close. The service was super great but one thing I wished they mentioned that the bottled water was going to be a $40 charge lol. Makes sense for any upscale restaurant though. Should've mentioned we wanted tap so fair warning, ask cause you WILL get charged haha. We had a group of 10 and for how big the group was, the food came out pretty fast. I don't think we ever had a time between drinks to entrees where we were waiting for food to come out. We got the watermelons mojito for drinks since it was the most raved about. It was good but personally nothing crazy for me. 8/10 score on that. We also curry popcorn chicken, the ahi tuna lollipops, the empanadillas and the goat cheese quesadillas for apps and honestly overall 9/10. This is where I don't like the sweetness part of this meal. The empanadillas were what I was most excited for but it was more sweet then savory which sort of lose my appetite a little. I think if you like that kind of taste then it's going to be good. It wasn't a bad taste at all. Just too sweet for my liking. The curry popcorn chicken was good and the lollipops were great. Again, nothing crazy. The goat cheese quesadillas was good as well but again, too sweet for my liking. Now on to the entree, they didn't have the porkchop since we came late so I ended up getting the porkchop belly dish. When it came out, it looked amazing but then I got a whiff of it and smelled cinnamon. That's when I was sort of disappointed. It was like eating pork but tasting Cinnamon Toast Crunch and as said before, it tasted great but too sweet for me. This one was way too sweet to where it seemed like a dessert item. I just had poor luck and got one of the one items that were sweet. This doesn't tank the rating down whatsoever because I also should've read it had cinnamon. It would've been great if they made a dipping sauce or something to pair it with and not have it on the pork belly itself. I got to try other dishes my friends got which were good as well but I wish I got to try something else. If I came back I would try the sold out item which was the pork shank or the sea bass. I know for a fact the sea bass was amazing. Had a bite of it and thought "I'll come back for that" Overall, 10/10 experience and nothing bad about the place but gotta try different items when I go next time. I understand the hype now

Throughout the evening, we repeatedly had to try to get someone's attention just to order water, drinks, request an appetizer, and eventually place our entrée order. The lack of attentiveness was distracting and took away from what should have been a special occasion. By the end of the meal, we were so exhausted by the experience that we decided to skip dessert altogether because it didn't seem worth waiting and trying to flag someone down yet again. For a dinner that cost nearly $300, I expected a much higher level of service. While the food was enjoyable, the overall experience fell well short of expectations, especially for such an important celebration. .

Also the "pastelillos" are amazing-- corn beef, chorizo, morcilla... Everything freshly made to order. Now, if you want to sit down and enjoy an authentic Puerto Rican meal, here are some of my favorites: chuletas fritas, chicharrones de pollo, bistec encebollado and carne frita-- of course with a side of rice and beans or tostones for the win. Bottom line: you come here for flavor and authenticity, not comfort. Enjoy

This is global techniques blended with locally sourced Puerto Rican ingredients. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. I was there to celebrate my birthday (a reservation is a must). I asked if I could be seated in a different section of the restaurant, and even though they were packed, they said absolutely and found me a lovely seat in the bar area. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. I suffer from severe food allergies but wanted to experience their tasting menu. My server spoke to the chef directly and then took the time to walk me through every option. I TRULY appreciated that they did not take anything off the menu but rather told me how they could adjust for my allergies. That is very rare and so very much appreciated that they went that extra mile for me. I highly recommend the tasting menu. It's 5 courses and they give you 3 options to choose from, within each course. And for the price ($85), a great value. Everything was delicious but I highly recommend the Breadfruit Gnocchi, Rainbow Runner Crudo, and Criollo Duck Mofongo. Chefs kiss! What I also noticed was, even though they were insanely busy, they didn't make you feel rushed. The invited you to savor the experience - which I did. Next time you are in San Juan, make a reservation and go. You won't be disappointed!

They have a lovely outdoor seating area, but we opted to sit inside for the ambiance, which turned out to be a great call. Service was excellent from start to finish. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and gave great recommendations. We decided to go all in on the $85 per person tasting menu. The food ranged from good to very good, and there was a *lot* of it. Standout dishes for me were the ceviche and the desserts, both of which were exceptional. The beef empanadas and breadfruit gnocchi were also highlights. My one criticism is that the tasting menu didn't feel particularly cohesive. We started with yellowfin tuna, moved on to wood-roasted fish, then suddenly shifted into Italian territory with breadfruit gnocchi in a rich buttery sauce before continuing on to beef steak and duck. Individually, many of the dishes were delicious, but together they felt more like a sampler of the restaurant's assortment of dishes rather than a thoughtfully sequenced tasting menu with a clear theme or progression. That said, the quality of the food, generous portions, and outstanding service made for a very enjoyable evening. If you're looking to experience a wide range of the kitchen's offerings, Cocina Abierta delivers.

So after a…read moredisastrous attempt at sushi across the street we decided to keep it simple and go to the place in Condado that is guaranteed to be great authentic Puerto Rican food. Coño! It was good! I'm Puerto Rican and I was born and raised in Puerto Rican culture and I can say Orozcos is legit. I ordered their amazing Chuleton Kan Kan with arroz con gandules. (Big crispy pork chop with yellow rice and pigeon peas) It was delicious but you have to eat it traditionally with your hands. Don't try to be proper just dig in like the locals do. Just treat of a piece, eat it and then eat some rice. Mmmmm!!! Don't forget their signature hot sauce it's delicious but not too spicy. My daughter and wife ordered the monfongo with Bistec and mini empanadillas which is a regular beef empanada cut in half. Mix some of that hot sauce with it and BAM! You got the perfect appetizer. The monfongo was their star. I was chowing down on my pork chop but I had to steal a few bites lol. The beef was tender and delicious and the monfongo was soaked in the steak sauce, it was bliss! The staff were funny and very efficient and they all helped each other out. The atmosphere was personal and small with amazing salsa music playing and air conditioners blasting. It was so comfortable I highly recommend Orozcos!!!
