A spacious coffee shop located near Loyola with plenty of tables to study from. When you enter, you are met by the coffee counter where you order and pick up the coffee. To the right is a separate room with plenty of small tables and outlets. Additionally, behind the coffee counter are a few more tables. I decided to try the special from their winter menu, the Snickerdoodle Latte iced. It was described as brown butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. To be honest, it tasted a little flat - didn't get much in coffee or brown sugar. It wasn't bad, but wasn't good enough for me to make the trek back up for. Price-wise it wasn't bad as compared to other coffee shops, around $6 for a large.

I found parking outside very easily. There's free wifi available. I got the oat draft latte and added sugar free vanilla for sweetener. It was so delicious, and creamy from the oat milk. The service was nice. The cashier was patient with us and answered all of our questions. He also wrote each person's name on their drink, even my children! They loved hearing their names being called when their drinks were ready. I'm looking forward to go back!

Stumbled into this coffee shop on a long weekend getaway into the city. It was the perfect spot and we visited twice during our stay. We even picked up a bag of beans to bring home with us! The baristas were super friendly and helped create my blended raspberry matcha drink which was creamy and delicious. Both trip we sat inside to enjoy or beverages. They also have a nice looking outdoor seating area. I particularly enjoyed checking out the local art that is available for sale. Will definitely stop by next time we're in the city!

A coffee shop with amazing tasting coffee. I got an iced latte with oatmilk and I didn't have to ask for an extra shot! I even bought a bag of beans to go. Also, the interior of this place is awesome. Next time, I'll bring a book or my laptop so I can hang out and enjoy the vibes.

Early morning walks in Chicago and husband and I found this little hidden gem. The most friendliest barista's I have ever encountered in my life, she was very helpful and gave some popular recommendations. This local coffee shop is a hit with the locals that live in that area. I would say it could pass for a place to sit down and study for as well. BUSY, colorful but worth it. We got two lattes and an everything bagel. Total was around 12 not bad at all! Metropolis is always packed when I walk by, so finally tried it out, and glad I did! The baristas are super friendly and the coffee was great. Big fan of their espresso but didn't love the soy milk they used... I think that might just be me though (I'm picky lol!). Will be back!

Yes, you should go here! And make sure to check in for 20% off lattes! ------------------------------------------------ So cute, plenty of seating, some street parking, GREAT prices - an XL matcha latte for about $5?! Back in DC, I'm lucky if a small costs $5 or less... The matcha latte doesn't come sweetened but you can add simple syrup, vanilla, etc. I opted for white chocolate syrup - it's my little hack for when a matcha drink tastes a little watery or too milk and you want to bring out the earthy matcha flavor with some sweetness. When I got my drink (really fast btw!), I wanted more white chocolate syrup and the barista poured more into my cup. It was DELICIOUS! My brother got a latte with regular milk and a big cookie. We ordered together and our total was $13 which I think was a more than fair price considered my XL matcha. I did add syrup and oat milk to mine, which of course adds to the cost. It was worth every penny! Service was speedy and I was grateful that they didn't charge me for wanting more syrup. There was a healthy amount of people inside working, chatting, chilling. I'd totally bring a laptop or friend here, not sure if there's WiFi though, as we were only stopping by to pick up drinks on the way to the airport. Would definitely come back!

This place never misses. I love this place so much. The coffee is always good and the baristas are even better. There's a good amount of space to sit and hang out for a bit too. Metropolis is always a bright spot in my day whenever I go. Their specials are also always amazing. Really, I can't express enough how much I love this place.

Great little coffee shop to grab a coffee and food to go or sit and work a little. I loved how they had a little variety with coffees and lattes. I personally do not drink coffees so I need a light coffee drink like a chai latte. I'm also a cold drink person and they have a lot of options for what you could customize your drinks. I enjoyed my drink a lot and I don't really drink coffee. Although people may consider my drink not really a coffee, I would come back and order that drink again.

Delicious espresso drinks and an iced chai latte close to Loyola in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Hip space with lots of small tables (2 person) and funky art on the wall. Cow milk choices were skim and whole only. Sold lots of whole bean roasts to take home. Had chemx set for sale.

    Justin S.

My brother who lives in Edgewater recommend Metropolis as his favorite area coffee shop/roaster, and after spending some time there I am a big fan. Had a really good cappuccino, which is always the mark of a great coffee shop. Enjoyed a couple of hearty, meat-filled pastries for breakfast. And bought one of their top selling roasts to bring home. We've enjoyed sipping on that all week! (Buying beans gets you a free small coffee - why doesn't everyone do this?!) Their was a good number of baristas so the service never slowed down, and they were all friendly and helpful. They have two bays so there is plenty of seating.

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

Don't fret! But waiting 2 hours in line for this on a weekday morning and knowing this spot has 2 michelin stars, i had higher expectations - i wouldn't say anything is particularly memorable and nothing was perfect except for the ube & huckleberry basque cake; the dishes were either lacking in flavor or texture - service was quick and welcoming - very homey cozy ambiance with tons of natural lighting; i felt so comfortable dining here - the most surprising part is this place being so hyped up when anything in la & ny could easily taste better and more authentic IG: @nom.noms.only

They shared that the strawberry milk croissant was their bestseller, so I opted for that. It was filled with fresh strawberry mascarpone and fresh strawberry puree. Despite the croissant's decadent appearance, it was not at all too sweet. I'm not typically the biggest croissant fan (I know, I know, no one is perfect) but this pastry blew me away.
