The restaurant is very small and filled with wall to wall people. The bagels were honestly some of the best I've ever tasted from a bagel spot before. The raisin was full with golden raisins but they were not sweet which loved . The honey wheat everything bagel was a nice spin on the everything bagel. The Asiago cheese one was ( perfect ) . The service was very quick for the amount of people that were waiting . My only gripe is this location is small but convenient to the mag mile . Definitely check it out when in the CHI.

Bacon Egg & Cheese on Asiago and Lox Spread on Everything

Gotham Bagels has a couple of locations around the downtown Chicago area. My husband and I happened to stop in for a hardy breakfast before exploring Michigan Avenue. The inside connects to the Gino's East next door but had enough seating for about 15ish people. The staff takes orders quickly and turns over food within 5-10 minutes. I ordered the Bacon Egg & Cheese sandwich on an Asiago Bagel. The egg was definitely the most prominent flavor. I wished the bacon was a little more evenly laid out and a bit more included. The sandwich itself was a bit more greasy than I was expecting as well but portion was huge! My husband got the Everything bagel with lox spread and thoroughly enjoyed his. This was a nice bagel stop and while it doesn't rank in my top choices, it was still great to enjoy!

The interior is pretty small and there are some seats, but I assume this location is primarily for takeout. The line went by really fast even though it went out the door. I found my bagel to be 18 dollars, even though it had a lot of fillings, I didn't think it was worth the price. The cream cheese was too salty. The bagel itself was really good though, next time I would just stick to a bagel and a schmear

Stopped by here for a quick breakfast while near the Magnificent Mile and it was solid. The cashier was friendly and made the experience easy from the start. I ordered the traditional tuna fish on an everything bagel, and they were definitely generous with the tuna, the portion was great and the flavor really hit the spot. The bagel itself was good, though I do wish it had a bit more of that everything seasoning to really bring it together. It also came with a spicy pickle spear, which was a delicious bonus. Everything came out quickly, which was perfect since I was on the go. Overall, a tasty and convenient breakfast stop!

Best bagel I've had since I've been in New York. And everything bagel with vegan scallion cream cheese.

What a lovely spot! Stopped in after a doctors appointment since it is so close to all the medical facilities in Streeterville. Was amazed at the vegan choices and I had an everything bagel with vegan scallion cream cheese that was delicious. The staff was delightful. One commented about my dress and another was dancing around to the music and everyone was smiling and happy. How wonderful after you just had a brutal doctor appointment to experience this.

I got the sausage, egg, and cheddar bagel. Got plain bagel with it. The sausage is a thick patty. It's sooo good! Well seasoned and got that little kick of spice to it. Bagel has a really nice chew. It came with a pickle. Very sour and a little salty for me. But I def would go back to get other bagel options!

OMFG Bagel sandwich on an Everything Bagel.

This was exactly what I was looking for, for breakfast. I had an OMFG bagel sandwich, and got a couple bagels to go, which were about the size of my head. Everything was tasty, and the price was pretty decent for downtown Chicago. I would definitely go back there again. It's a quaint little shop with a lot of takeout orders and a few tables to enjoy a dine-in experience.

A pretty damn good bagel if I do say so. Not the cheapest in town but actually large enough and really fresh enough to make it work the roughly 17 bucks I paid for a breakfast bagel. Fresh out of the oven bagel and quality ingredients on the sammy made it worth the price. It was quickly prepared too. Even the bagel and a smear i tried on another day was fresh with a huge smear and worth the 6 bucks. Sorry I have no pics of my sammy to post it really was so good i ate it all before I had a chance to take a pic. Try them out they're worth it.

Gotham Bagels is such a gem right off the Mag Mile. It's a cute, cozy shop with just enough indoor seating and a super quick in-and-out setup--perfect for busy mornings in the city. They've got a huge lineup of bagel sandwiches, tons of bagel and cream cheese options, and a full range of drinks. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, even when the weekday morning rush hits hard! I ordered the spicy sausage, fried egg, and cheddar on a toasted Asiago bagel with a smear of veggie cream cheese and... WOW. The bagel was perfectly done--crispy and well-toasted on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. The sausage, egg, and cheese combo was phenomenal, and they didn't overdo the cream cheese, which I really appreciated. The size is massive for the price too--total NY-style bagel vibes! Definitely one of my go-to spots when I'm craving a legit bagel in the city. Highly recommend!

Stopped by for a breakfast bagel. Picked up a coffee and pastrami & egg bagel. You can choose your bagel (I got egg everything) and doneness of the fried egg. There was a bit of a line at 8a on a Thursday but orders were taken fairly quickly and sandwiches came out fast. The pastrami was nice and salty, though the bagel was also a bit salty too. It paired nicely with the hard fried egg though so I felt satisfied. The pickle closed it well.

Scrumptious, fresh massive everything bagel piled high with salmon cream cheese, arugula and capers. Rain, snow or shine, there will likely be a line, but fast efficient service in an open brightly lit ambiance.

Brighton Beach on egg everything bagel
    Aaron A.

While Chicago isn't known for its bagels, you can find the exception to the rule at Gotham Bagels. I ordered two Brighton Beach sandwiches. One on a standard everything bagel and one on an egg everything bagel. Both were great, but the egg was by far my favorite. It had enough textural integrity to hold the ingredients, but still soft enough to not ruin your mouth! The quality and freshness of the ingredients provided the perfect breakfast! If you're looking for a good bagel, make sure to stop by Gotham Bagels.

    Lox & Cream Cheese Bagel

Stopped by Gotham Bagels after seeing it on my TikTok and really made me hyped. I went for the Lox and Cream Cheese bagel and my girlfriend got the Egg & Bacon sandwich. The staff were super nice and fast, so points for that. But... for the bagel itself? It was just a little dry and kind of bland. It was sad as I really wanted to love this place, but I've had plenty of other Chicago bagels that hit way harder. This was certainly one of those Tik Tok hype vs reality situations and the reality is to skip this place.

Two of us shared a half pound pastrami on rye with a side of hash browns. The rye was pretty decent but the pastrami was sliced far too thick and the meat was lean. That is not a good thing when it comes to pastrami and I attribute the lean meat to the deli catering to its hipster-ish audience. Although the flavor was decent, the sandwich was dry and difficult to eat. We disagreed on the generously sized pickle. One of us thought the flavor was just right, the other not so much. We both agreed on the hash browns. It's a no-go. They were well fried but entirely unseasoned. I understand the lack of schmaltz but there was no onion or salt or anything else. Waffle House has nothing to worry about. (IYKYK) Service was fast and polite. The space is tiny, but it works. Prices are okay for this area but if you want traditional deli in Chicago, go to Manny's.

I don't know what technique they do it get or keep so much topping on them, but it's a pleasure to have too much rather than not enough. They service beer here which makes it slightly unbreakfasty and their bagel sandwiches used baked eggs rather than griddled/flat topped or from a pan. Keeps them fluffy, but I prefer mine a little runnier. Service is very good, friendly, not rushed or fake hospitality. They cure their lox in house which to me feels more tender than other places, probably just a lower, longer heating or a gentler cure. Excellent schmear, a not heavy handed when scooping (respect the schream cuz). Prices are pretty good considering the care and love they put into the bagels (hand rolled, multiple proofs). They have crunch, chew, density, but air pockets. Chef/owners def put thought into the menu with flavors like zatar, dilly ranch deviled eggs. Dr. Browns sodas. Baclava cappuccinos. White fish on bagel chips, Bagel dog is such a simple combination of not just the everything bagel seasoning, but the dough as well. And the mustard pairs better than had they added schmear (sorry Seattle dogs, i'm not a fan, i only like my cream cheese in philadelphia sushi rolls, lol) . The pizza bagel needs more toppings like pepperoni, sausage becuase then it would eat like a normal size bagel bite. The challah bread on the rachel really is more well rounded than the reuben. It's something I've been recreating back home. Giard cream cheese, cmon ya'll are really hitting the nail on the head for a Chicago bagel shop. I guess that's why there are 3 locations now. The Haystack with apple butter works better than expected, but also works with a chive cream cheese sub, no ketchup needed (if you do go with the harissa ketchup from the yada yada). BEC with a side of salted tomato and harissa ketchup is amazing. If everything was 10% more like toppings wise this would be amazing, but they always seem to skimp on something whether it's the schmear, pickels, salad. I feel like i was haggling for my meal sometimes. Prices area little high for most items, but of great value for others. It's busy in the mornings, but lines move long and only once did I have to wait for a fresh batch of anything despite some large orders ahead of me. It's a 20 minute train ride, but worth it.
