We tried to go here last Friday night and it was MOBBED! There was a line out the door so we decided to try again later on. We just went back and ordered the Classic Steak Burrito, Chicken Chimichangas and the Chips and Queso. The salsa bar is fun and the queso was yummy. However, the food was nothing to brag about. We found it to be plain and boring. Both of our items also had very little meat in them - they were mostly just rice. Wife got a taco salad and also got a kids meal for our son. Everything seemed good, fresh and reasonably priced however the kids meal comes with Hugs Barrel Juice. Seriously? So much for healthy option for a kid. These things are loaded with artificial sweeteners and other nastiness with a small squirt of "vitamins". (water, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, sodium polyphosphates, natural and artificial flavors, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate (to protect flavor), sodium citrate, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, red 40, blue 1, yellow 5, vitamin e acetate, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin b6, vitamin b12, biotin.) Just really surprised to see such a low quality offering served on the side of a kids meal. Even the junk they serve at McDonald's comes with Milk. I think they've reached their peak! A usual place, never had an issue til the other night. There was a rush, but I assume they've been busy before. Ordering: Went fine, no issues there Food to Table: Called out right #, put down the wrong food - had to go up to the counter to get the food we actually ordered. Burritos: Warm 80%, Cold 20% .. rice was lukewarm at best. Salsa Bar: Almost empty, 2 of 6 salsa choices were available, ran out of cups for dipping. Well, it's all chicken, and I'd like to see more beef and seasoning personally but as for basic Mexican staples this place nails it. And good for them. What a nice addition to our sleepy little town!! Everything is under $10. I got the Chili lime salad. It was loaded with grilled chicken, fresh avocado, tomato and the right amount of tortilla strips and cheese. The dressing could have had a little more flavor but I like that it did not overpower the fresh flavors. My son had the chimichanga platter, it was huge and good. The classic burrito was also flavorful. The salsas were good and liked that the chips had no salt. I'm pleased and very full!! We've been twice for lunch , both takeout..... A lovely addition to the area restaurant choices. Chicken and cheese quesadillas were both very good. Soft taco platters were generous, with the chicken more flavorful then the beef. Beans and rice were bland. Salsa bar was just fair, with limited, uninspiring items. Wish there was more spice ,overall, in the food. Restaurant is modern and spotless. And service from everyone is friendly, energetic, and very appreciative. read more

The food is fresh, healthy and delicious. I've had the steak fajita burrito twice( with rice and beans) and I have not been disappointed . The taste was consistant with top quality ingredient. The help yourself salsa bar, is impressive, with a variety of salsas that range from mild to spicy. The rice is a bit dry, that's my only complain. The staff was courteous, helpful and kind. For the quality and quantity of food, they are expensive. I ordered the steak burrito and soda and it was $12. The burrito was smaller than my hand. I can got to chipotle and get a steak burrito with MUCH more and pay less that what I did. In the food industry, customer service is paramount except at Mex on Main which is disappointing because the food is half way decent. I just got back from a long day out with the family, and wanted to do something nice for my wife who is due to have our baby in 6 days. So I ordered 2 chicken chili lime salads and 4 pork empanadas... nothing crazy. I placed the order through Uber Eats. When the order arrived everything looked good except for the essential part of my salad THE DRESSING!!! I promptly called and spoke with someone regarding the error in the order. Their response was "we cannot do anything because we don't have a driver." I then told them I would come to the store, defeating the purpose of the delivery, and get the essential ingredient for my salad. When I arrived I waited in line for a few minutes and when I got to the counter I asked for my chili lime dressing and a refund for my Uber Eats service fee, which was around 4.50-5.00$. I should also mention that this restaurant participates with the Trumbull High School Football Team 2019-2020 premium discount card which I posses and presented when I got there. So I also asked for the 10% discount that I could not apply on my uber eats order. The manager was polite, but clearly had no business sense. She said she could not refund me because this was an uber eats order, despite the fact that this was an error on the restaurant's end. After she refused to offer me any sort of refund I simply asked for the amount on a gift card. I figured this would work because I got what I wanted and they had a returning customer. It seemed like a win-win situation. She still refused and did not compromise, but she did offer me chips and guacamole, which at this point I felt was just an insult. So I took the salad dressing and walked out. This manager has absolutely no concept of customer service and is poorly representing this establishment. Congratulations you have saved 10$ and have lost a customer. I will not return to Mex on Main. Date of service 8/31/2019. read more

Went for the first time yesterday. Ordered the seafood burrito which promised shrimp, crab, and scallops. Not a scallop in sight. It was only OK. Very nice staff. Love the salsa bar. I will say the biggest disappointment are the tortilla chips - tasteless and seemed stale. Also, tasted my daughters taco and found the taco shells tasteless and stale also. Need better corn tortilla chips and taco shells. A more rich corn flavor would be better. Will, however, give it another shot just to be fair. read more

Good Mexican food close to home. If you prepay you can pick it right up and skip the line which was very long on a Friday Evening. We enjoyed the quesadilla and the chimichanga. The food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the enchiladas and the burrito, everything was delivered to our table quickly. There was so much flavor in the food. The only downside I saw was the Styrofoam plates but the staff was attentive to the avocado allergy in the group and very nice. Mex on Main is a much anticipated and great addition to our Trumbull eateries! My family and I have been there several times already and have tried the Classic Burrito, Fajita Burrito, tacos and taco salad....all fantastic!
