I waited in line like everyone else. When was my turn to check out, the cashier just walked away. Not a word. She looked at me as I put my items down and just walked away. And never came back! I was the last person in the line. I was also the only Asian in the store at the time. I don't want to make assumptions, but what the hell? I had to flagged down another worker to help me. I was about to just leave my stuff on the counter and walk out. More recently,, my husband and I were waiting behind one woman to check out. There isn't really area for a line except down the aisles. When we reached the front, we saw a woman standing at the aisle next to us. We asked if she was in line also. She didn't respond. We motioned to the cashier to check if there was actually one line or two. No response. So we went ahead to pay. That's when the cashier lectures us about cutting in line. My husband and I shop here every week for most of our groceries. They have a better variety of produce and fruit than most Latin markets and at good prices. They also have a lot of meat choices. The employees are willing to help and have often gotten me stuff from the back if they were low on an item. They also have fresh sweet breads and fresh tamales. read more

You can always count on this store for fresh produce! Every time I go, there are employees checking the produce and restocking the fruits and veggies. The prices are very affordable and the quality of the produce is great. They also sell lots of dairy products, spices, and sauces. The street parking on San Bruno Ave. can be pretty busy sometimes but, if you go behind the store to the next street over, there is a pretty large parking lot with lots of available parking spots. Great location to buy all of your fresh groceries and I highly recommend it if you're in the area. read more

Just because I'm Asian doesn't mean I don't understand Spanish. I was missing an ingredient for dinner tonight. A tomato. I normally avoid Mexicana Produce due to the poor service and discriminating nature against my mom years ago, but as much time passed I figured maybe things have changed. I rushed in to get my tomato and at checkout a female cashier rang me up. I told her, "sorry I don't carry cash. I'm paying with debit." She starts talking crap about me to the elderly man who was after the young man who was behind me. She kept saying to him in Spanish, "can you believe it? Using the machine for $2.00." She repeated it multiple times and the man just chuckled and agreed with her. I wanted to call her out so bad, but I wasn't in the mood to deal with her ignorance. Yes, I paid with my debit card for a $2.00 purchase. It's 2017. Most people carry debit over cash. So long story short, no things have not changed at the Mexicana Produce. read more

So my husband always shops here on his way home from work. So last Sunday I went along with him.. at the register everything came out to $97. And change... so I say $97 for what?!?! This is a hidden gem in San Bruno, right downtown. Those in the know bypass the overpriced Mollie Stone's with their wilted, overpriced produce and come straight here for the best prices in fresh produce. They carry everything you need at prices up to 1/2 what major chains charge. If you needed to shop at only one grocery store in San Bruno, this would be the one I'd choose. The staff is friendly enough, although you get the feeling that they're not sure how to deal with non-Spanish speaking people sometime. I see the full range of San Bruno people in here (Palestinians, Tongans, Indians) so you know they're doing something right. read more

They have the best produce around, and cheaper too. They rival the large chains. I get 95% of my produce here. All my fixins for Tacos and enchiladas and when in the mood a couple of their hand made tamales. Yum! Chicharones can be had here as well as various types of queso fresco. Pan dulce is available at the front of the store. Towards the back of the store they have all of your dried spice needs too. Lucky to have such a great place so close to home. After tiring of hit-and-miss fruit at Trader Joe's, I was looking for an alternative in the area for my weekly produce needs. After a quick Yelp search, I went to this place. . . and what a find! I've already been back a handful of times in the last month! The produce stockers are really efficient, friendly, and always gentle with their handling of the products. Even the dry goods, I see them rotating the products and always orderly stocking the items. The produce is always fresh, neatly displayed, and reasonably priced! No need to scour sale ads or go to different places. Although they don't have as many of the small apples and oranges in the 3-5 pound bags, they have an array of other fruits that it makes it no problem to ensure my family and I get our daily servings! And they have a great assortment of frozen and dry food items at really good prices. Typically, smaller market prices are higher for these items but not this place. They even have shredded phyllo for only $3.29 per box, the lowest I've seen! I have yet to purchase any meats, but again the displays are clean and neat. I think their prices are pretty good, especially the oxtails! Next time I'm in the mood for soup, I know where to pick up some oxtails. Even though this place is not as close to me as other markets, I still make the little longer drive to get my weekly produce here. They also accept credit cards. And parking is easy, with a lot and street! read more

Yes, this place gets five stars from me. It's a clean well stocked produce market where the people are friendly and helpful. Their prices can't be beat. For example, I was in Albertson's yesterday and saw that the cheapest cut of steak was 4.69 per pound and Mexican Produce had it at 3.09 per pound. Big Savings!! I'm not saying that this store has everything But as far as fruits, veggies, and meat are concerned - their prices can't be beat. Try them and you won't be disappointed. This place totally rocks! Hands down the best and freshest produce with a huge selection anywhere on the Northern Peninsula. I agree with the Yelper below this place is a hidden gem. The prices are unbelievably low. The really cool thing about this place that separates it from all other Mexican Style markets is that it doesn't remotely feel ghetto at all, kinda upscale hipster. This place is always clean and the people are friendly and fast. The meat selection is as good as the produce. Nice fresh and well stocked. I have yet to find skinless chicken breast anywhere else that compare. They will also quickly cut meat and clean fish while you wait. I went today, and the girl at the counter was amazingly unhelpful looking down on me as I was struggling with my stroller at the cashier, barely looked away from her phone as she was texting the whole time, sighed numerous times to get me the heck out of there as quickly as possible, ... I've been going here for years and I love chatting with all the cashiers. They are always friendly and I look forward to seeing them each time. I always get their fresh bread (bolillos) and other pastries. Their queso fresco is sooo good and always fresh, not to mention their molcajete salsa. I haven't found a salsa that compares. It's extra extra spicy, so beware. They have a great variety of fresh produce. The prices go up and down. I've bought organic blueberries for $1, but they also have their days where strawberries are $4.99 and pineapples are $5.99 so it always depends. Sorry to be the lone desenter here. This is the best place for produce in San Bruno. But next time I go, I will be SURE that the checker confirms how much money I hand her BEFORE she makes change. I made a small purchase ($2.50) with a $10 bill and the checker claimed I gave her exact change. I was 95% sure I handed her a $10, but because I had my child with me and was on auto-pilot, I did not argue the point. When I got home and doublechecked the contents of my wallet - I was sure I gave her a 10. Certainly not the end of the world... and I've saved that much money just by shopping here - but very annoying none the less. read more

Overcharged! Got to my car and though the amount I paid was too much. Sure enough, I was charged for 4.53 lbs of Fuji Apples @ $1.59 / lb instead of White onions at $.59 a pound.
