Nothing fancy here, but some good basic Mexican food. They have a fairly large menu with something to fit everyone's needs. My go to item here is the steak quesadilla. Chopped fajita steak, onions, peppers, cheese with a side of rice and beans. The chicken Tinga is always a smoky little number if your into spicy chicken dishes. They also have a very large lunch menu, with cheaper menu items if your looking for somewhere to run in for a quick lunch. Chips and salsa are complimentary and the salsa is always fresh. Great frozen and on the rocks margaritas, I believe they are $4 at happy hour! You can't beat that. In the warmer months, it's nice to sit on their patio and enjoy a nice cold drink and just stay a while. If you're looking for just some good ole Mexican food, this could be your place. read more

Another solid Mexican place in Birmingham. I have mainly come here for happy hour. But every time I have gotten the food, I have been pleased. I love the atmosphere here. And for a Mexican Restaurant happy hour, you have to have good chips and salsa... which they do. I have gotten the steak fajitas before and they were perfectly cooked. The margaritas are not the best in Birmingham, but towards the top in the grand scheme of Mexican joints in town. Their bar area is really cool. And they have a pretty good beer selection. Friends and I frequent this place on Friday afternoons for years. So it will always have a special place in my heart. I will update more on the food when I eat here more. But for a good afternoon of drinks with friends, it doesn't get much better than this. read more

Honestly, I was not impressed . I expected more since we have a Mexico Lindo in Atlanta. The servers would only drop drink/food and walk away fast not asking if we needed anything else . I had fajitas and man the presentation on the plate looked like some kids arts and craft. There needs to be more spice and flavor to the plates instead I got a plan steak. Normally I would have given 3-4 stars because I think their food is normally pretty good and has great flavor, however on April 29th my friend got food poisoning after eating #30 (I believe its chicken enchiladas). As far as your average Mexican food, this is by far one of my favorites. Their salsa is great, and they have some of the best chicken fajitas around. Mexico Lindo was a solid, but not spectacular meal. We started with the Queso dip and Guacamole. The queso was good, but only somewhat warm. Might've been even better if it was slighty warmer. The Guacamole was slightly bland. We actually poured some of our salsa into the guacamole and it made it delicious! Wish we tried the Mexicano guacamole. I had the chicken fajitas. Only 4 long strips of chicken. Not as much as I'm accustomed to receiving at a Mexican joint. I enjoyed swapping black beans for the refried beans! Fresh tortillas were great! They seemed homemade. Great service the whole time, except it took us about 20 minutes to receive our check after we finished. And an additional 15 minutes for them to process our check. Yummy yummy yummy. I love this Mexican restaurant. The salsa is a bit on the spicy side but I love it. My favorite thing to order is the chicken fajita appetizer. It's so delicious. It has grilled chicken, veggies and cheese. It also comes with a mango salad which I never know what to do with because they don't give you dressing. The quesadilla fills me up enough. I had just got off a flight and was starving. I happened to spy this place before I passed by so I pulled in. There was a cute courtyard off the front wrapping around the side. When I opened the door, I was greeted by a very festive Mexican decor. I placed a to go order of the carne asada plate. It took me a bit to navigate to my hotel, but the wait was worth every hangry second. The flavor of the beans and rice made them the best I have had since I was in Mexico. The portion of carne asada didn't disappoint. It was cooked to the perfect medium and was seasoned well without being salty. I got the steak and mushroom tacos. They were really good and a good size portion. My fiancée got the chicken fajitas and they were terrible, like neither of us could eat them. The salsa is good, spicy but the serve it in a soft serve ice cream cup from J-Del. There is no draft beer (strike two for me) and the server could care less about our table. I love this place for Mexican food, and the food has always been good and super fast, both for dine-in and takeout. However, in some of the booths the seat lining has peeled up in a really spotty way and honestly feels gross/dirty to sit on or touch with your hands when you're about to eat. This should be fixed. One of the very best Mexican places ever! HANDS DOWN! And I know this because I am a Mexican food connoisseur - I mean like one of those 3 times a week gals! Mexico Lindo is BACK, and in its original home in the new(ish) Homewood-Hollywood-Mountain Brook strip center, The HOLLYWOOD! Before the renovations of this strip center were underway, Mexico Lindo was forced to close its doors. Roberto did, however, open Zona Rosa over in Liberty Park, which had some of the same dishes I loved so much at Mexico Lindo, but they just weren't the same, and I still longed for my (familiar) Mexico Lindo of days past! Roberto told me that he would be "RE"-opening ML soon! But that "soon" didn't come very quickly, sadly. To my surprise, while driving down 280 one day, I saw that Mexico Lindo HAD, in fact, opened again! OH JOY! Same, awesome Mexican decor (which I have not been above asking for some of in years past!), updated bar - which we love and that great menu I remembered, with all my faves on it! We decided we needed a little Mid-Week-Mexican Pick Me Up, so we headed to ML for dinner last night and were treated to some really tasty margaritas and a wonderful "surprise" from the kitchen - As regulars, you get those things! And Roberto knows the spice level he can impart on my plate and usually comes up with something SO DELISH. This was an extra special mushroom dish - I can't expound on the details because I think it's going to become a feature soon. All I can say is, you will LOVE IT! I had the Caldo Tlalpeno, which is what i usually have. And we had some of the normal stuff, their tasty cheese dip and their tasty, spicy guacamole. The chips are fresh and warm (KEY for Mexican Food Junkies, like myself), the margaritas have hand squeezed lime juice, the cheese dip is served hot (how many times do you have to send your cheese dip back because it's cold and jello-ey?), and just the right amount of spice. The beans are hand cooked - not some re-fried pile of mess on your plate (and you can even get black beans if you wish!). My favorite things on the menu: Caldo Tlalpeno, of course - $6 Guacamole Mexicano - $7 (SPICY!!!! chunky, fresh, yummy) Cheese Dip - SPICE is extra good! - $3 Lindo Burger & Fries - $9 (My CM might like this one!!) Poblano Relleno - $10 Carne Asada - $14 The best thing about Mexico Lindo is that it's not "just mexican" - you can go almost anywhere for that. My wife and I ate here because we thought it was like the Mexico Lindo in Oxford, AL. Unfortunately it is not affiliated with the one in Oxford. On to the service, it wasnt great. When our waiter was there he was very nice however trying to get him to our table proved to be difficult. He spent a little too much time hitting on the hostess up front. The food itself was not bad, it wasnt great either. In my opinion it was typical mexican food. I wouldnt go out of my way to eat here again but if in the area and couldnt find anything else I would go again. read more

I believe this is probably the best Mexican restaurant in town as far as service, quantity, quality, and price are concerned. If this place is busy you hardly realize it because the staff is well equipped and responsive to serve you! Everything on the menu is affordable and not over the top! This is one of my two favorite Mexican food restaurants in Birmingham. My three teenage daughters love it too - and that's saying something, because everyone has different preferences. Personally, I like their tamales - they're sort of the standard by which I measure all Mexican food. The tamales at Mexico Lindo are consistently delicious - filled with well-seasoned lean meat, with tender corn wrappings. Love them. Also, in this age of pureed salsa from a can, Mexico Lindo has chopped tomato salsa that is outstanding - and free! I've had the Pollo Gratinado (heavenly - and a HUGE helping at lunch), tamales (of course), Carnitas (delicious) and many more that I can't recall ... the bottom line is that I've never had something here that I would give fewer than five stars ... so head over to check it out today :) read more

Perched atop an overpass over 280 in mountain brook this is a hidden gem if the sun is out and weather warm. You can sit either inside or outside but this last Sunday my wife and I opted to enjoy the sun outside. We were greeted and promptly had our drink orders taken. Pretty standard on this front a few Mexican beers, margaritas etc you know it goes. The menu is pretty expansive and there will be something for everyone. I opted for the Asafa tinga which was great. Not the greatest not the worst. Greeters do a great job and seat patrons promptly. Servers come out and take food and drink orders quickly also which is well received in this yelpers preference. Food comes out quickly and hot...this is where it turns, I have had better quality of Tex-Mex food at gas stations in Mississippi and there is no telling what goes into those rotated bits of who knows what. Mexico lindo is a place I've wanted to try for a long time! At the suggestion of the husband, we had a good date night here. The location, ambiance, and especially service are stellar. The chicken fajitas and chips were very good, but not the best I've had. We also got the queso fundido con rajas--the only other time I've had this, simply called "rajas", was at Canyon Grill (the best restaurant of all time). The rajas were good, but not as good as at Canyon Grill. The cheese was a little " stretchier " -not in a bad way, but not as deliciously creamy and flavorful as the other. Still, I'd try it again. Lastly, a mango margarita that was yummy and appropriately priced. The only downside was the large birthday party across the room who'd enjoyed one-too-many mango margaritas and were practically yelling, complete with squealing children, the entire time. :-/ the extreme loudness was the only downside. I think I'd go here again, but not frequently since it's quite a drive for us, and there are many good Mexican places in alabaster. read more

As far as "inexpensive Mexican" food goes, this is absolutely head and shoulders above all the other similar places. The food is just way better. Unless you go to a high end Mexican place (and there aren't many of them), you will not find food this good or even comparable. We eat at several Mexican joints around Birmingham and they are cheap, fast, and reasonably good. But Lindo is in another league for food quality. As far as higher-end Mexican goes, there is Little Donkey, if you call them Mexican. I call them more like Tex Mex / barbecue fusion or something like that. They are fantastic and well worth a visit. But for straight ahead Mexican, Lindo is tops. They cost a little bit more. You won't find the $6 lunch plate like at some places, but there's a reason for that. The food is too good for that price point and the extra couple bucks is well worth it. read more

Really hate to give them even one star. Met my husband there for dinner. Sat down and someone brought us some of the most awful chips I have had lately. Old and stale. After 15 minutes with no waiter in sight my husband said something to the hostess. Waited ten more minutes and left never having had a waiter come to our table despite people around us being served, never again! read more
