Hubby and I come here often for lunch because we both work nearby. However, hubby frequently orders the grilled cheese sandwich and fries because he doesn't always want Mexican food when I do. It is usually just fine, but our visit yesterday they brought out two slices of dry toasted bread with melted cheese in the middle. Their reason was 'they were busy'. It just takes a minute to slap some butter or mayo on the outside of the sandwich and grill it! If they didn't want to make it they should have said something instead of bringing out this dried up thing. We have been coming here for 15 years, guess we will go elsewhere at lunch time. read more

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant we have found in the Tacoma area. We love Chili Colorado and theirs is amazing! We have only ever found one other place with really good Chili Colorado and they closed down a year or two ago. This place also has really good Carne Asada. So tender and flavorful. Recently I tried their Lime Cilantro Chicken, and let me tell you I was blown away. The chicken is grilled and tender, moist and very very flavorful. This has to be one of my all time favorite dishes. You definitely need to to try this place as I know you will be pleasantly pleased. read more

Used to be part of the El Toro chain, but has been rebranded as Mexico Magico. New decor is vibrant, colorful and tasteful. A little bit homespun, but comfortable and clean. The male servers can be a bit monosyllabic, but everyone is always friendly and attentive. The menu is mostly what one would expect at typical Mexican restaurant - enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas, etc. Always tasty and well-seasoned. However, there are also a few surprises on the menu that are a little more authentic. Portions are large, and they always keep the complimentary chips and salsa coming. The margaritas are good, but you tend to get what you pay for in terms of quality and quantity. I'm giving this five stars not because it's the best Mexican restaurant in the world, but because it is just very good at what it does. This place is not trying to be Matador, where you go to burn up the roof of your mouth with the food, and then wash it down with a $100 shot of Don Julio Real. Instead, Mexico Magico is for when you want a reasonably-priced platter of tasty Mexican food in a casual, laid-back atmosphere. read more

hubby and i really, really like this place! i love that their happy hour goes until 7 (instead of 6 like everywhere else)... very smart move on their part since everyone knows parking is free after 6pm! (and parking around here is a nightmare so to have to pay after driving around 8 times just to find something this just adds insult to injury lol)... the service here is consistently very prompt and very good/attentive. they're all super nice too. drinks are fairly priced during HH and the food is DeLiCiOuS! i recommend the "queso dip" during HH. i am sure it's got a lot of calories but, people, it's SO good. the wings are cheap and good too. my only recommendation for management - please be open on Sundays :( lol i really recommend this place... read more

Waiters were no where to be found and had to ask multiple times for extra napkins and drink refills. Probably wouldn't return. This was the worst restaurant experience of my life. We made reservations for 20 people at 5 o'clock today and this place was not even slightly prepared. I understand 20 is a lot of people... it can be difficult to serve a large group and keep us all happy. But that also means a lot of money for your business so you should probably prepare accordingly. We were assigned 1 server. It looked like only 3 servers were working and no bartender. Drinks took an hour to come out. Mine took an hour and a half because the server forgot twice. Our food took an hour and a half. Most of it was cold and bland. They clearly left it sitting before bringing it out. The majority of us ordered street tacos, possibly the easiest thing to make in any restaurant ever. Finally, the bill was brought to us as 1 check, rather than split up like we asked and planned for. We left ourselves 2.5 hours to eat dinner before we had to be at the Tacoma Dome at 7:30 and somehow they couldn't manage that. Worst restaurant experience of my life. read more

Super disappointed in this restaurant. I work downtown and this used to be one of my favorite places to eat with all of my co workers. I went for lunch today and the server didn't notice the moldy cheese on my tacos so he served them to me anyway. He gave me another order, but made me pay the full amount. I feel like he should have given it to me for free and apologized profusely instead of the reluctant one time. I went there 3 or 4 times a month and would bring 3 or 4 of my co workers and because of the over all negligence they just lost a lot of business. read more

I have to say, if you love Mexican food and know what is real, this is a great place for you to visit. Impressed by the happy hour specials...lots for $4.00 but the show stopper for for me was the 1$ burrito, or enchilada, or taco. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our margaritas, waters and complimentary chips and salsa were brought within five minutes. If you're looking for fresh and fast Mexican this is the place for you. Everyone is friendly and the food is amazing! I've eaten the queso, tacos, nachos, and quesadillas and so far everything has been delicious. The whole place is very clean right down to the bathrooms. I often come with my boyfriend for great happy hour specials, but I've seen parties of about ten for a birthday and their food seemed to come out just as fast as ours. I've ordered from Mexico magico a few times on ubereats. The first time I spent an extra $2 to get steak instead of chicken. I was delivered chicken instead. When I called they told me they were close to closing and that they'd have a manager call me back and I left my name and number. A call back never happened. I let it go. The agovado and beans came with quesadilla tastes like several days old. The chips tastes moldy... After having a lunch there, we hope the mold in the chip and the bacteria in the salsa cancel each other. We mentioned this to the waiter. He showed no remorse, saying "we made them fresh each day and nobody else is complaining". He sat us and we waited at least 10 min before they gave us chips. Another 10 min for water and napkins. Our waiter finally came by for our order. Waited about a hour for our food and no wait staff has come by, yet one server could easily manage the number of guests in the restaurant. Asked a bus boy if he knew if they were going to bring us our order. He never came back after he said he was going to check for us. After wasting a hour we got up and left, assuming we wouldn't get service.
