Nice warm chips, great salsa, amazing queso dip... Margs on happy hour are a great price and they're super yummy, not too sour where it hurts your stomach. I had the burrito California and had it modified a little bit with corn salsa and it was soooo good. Everyone else loves their dinners too! Great mexican place in a strip-mall. Tons of selections on the menu. The especial hot sauce was very good, thick tomato paste with pepper seeds for heat...but not too hot. The waiters worked well. There seem to be like a dozen establishments of Mexico in the Richmond area, and for a Mexican chain, it's pretty good. I was here for lunch last week, and although the place was decently crowded, service was quite efficient and I was in and out in less than an hour, and didn't feel rushed at all. Their decor is pretty standard chain Mexican flair, but they keep it brightly lit, with the background music not too loud, so it's a pretty warm and inviting atmosphere. When seated, even before drink orders were taken, chips and Salsa appeared, and both were quite fresh, not the best salsa I think I've tasted, but it was plenty good, lots of fresh cilantro and onion. I got the lunch Fajitas, and before you know it, the traditional sizzling skillet appeared in front of me, steak, chicken, peppers, and onions all nicely caramelized and not at all oily. One of my only complaints about the dish was that they really didn't have any cheese for the Fajitas (unlike the servings some of the folks' I was dining with got), the bit that they had on the "fixin's plate" of lettuice, tomato, rice, beans, etc. was pretty melted to the re-fried beans. One other thing that I noticed compared to some other Mexican restaurants in the area is that Mexico's plates looked pretty plain; I didn't see any garnish like some diced tomatoes, cilantro, or coja cheese to liven up the dish. I don't think it affected the flavors at all, however it's the little things like this that separate a good chain restaurant from the best worthy of 5 stars in my opinion. One of the best Mexican restaurants in the Richmond area. Everything I've ever had from here was fresh, flavorful and delicious. My favs are fajita quesadilla, burrito California, chile rellenos, and they have the best refried beans ever! I don't know what it is about the beans but they are absolutely delicious! They are very flavorful and covered in queso blanco. If you like beans, substitute them instead of rice for most dishes, you will not regret it! read more

To start out, I would like to say I love Mexico Restaurant, and it is one of my favorite places to eat. I used to eat here about twice a week. However, I stopped going because of the rude service. Specifically, the worker named Bertha. Keep in mind I always at least tip 20% even with less than average service. I've had her several times, and she always has an attitude with me and my party. I see them looking at me or my party and laughing to one another in Spanish. It is just unacceptable. To make things clear, everyone else is very nice, and helping. Don't let this sway you from going, but if you are sat with Bertha (I believe she is the only female waitress) I would ask for another option. Again, this is not a one-time problem. It happens every time we have her. Nonetheless, the food is good, and is worth a try. read more

I went to Mexico after hearing of it from some radio advertisements. The ads make you think this would be a welcoming place but I was sadly disappointed. I tried to place my order but was told that the modification I requested would not be made. The waiter was very rude about it and suggested I just not order. He said he was merely the help and couldn't respond to my basic request. I finally gave up and just went to another restaurant in Short Pump that provided an excellent meal. My husband and I have tried most of the Mexican restaurants around but this one is by far the best food. The chicken quesadillas (with an add on of fresh spinach) are awesome. If you are looking for friendly service and a good meal made correctly, don't go to Mexico Restaurant. The wait staff is rude and they have real issues placing the order correctly. They charge you for cheese queso they chose to put on your burrito. I ordered just cheese, I believe there is a difference between just cheese and cheese dip. When I questioned the price, because the menu reflected 2 burritos for $7.49 (beef, chicken, or cheese) and my bill reflected 2 burritos for $10.98, I was told that was the price and asked if I had cheese dip. I never ordered cheese dip on them, but that is what they chose to put on them. In the end I was told by the cashier that I could take my business elsewhere.....which I will definitely do. There are too many Mexican Restaurants in the West End to be treated so poorly. read more
