Mexican food is the best and Mexico food is even better. We've been here numerous times, but will be highlighting our favorites. We've always ordered the Shrimp and Crab enchiladas and the Chicken Yucatan. Both are delicious and bursting with flavors. The beef taco salad was something new I tried. I would have preferred the pieces to be cubed and not in strips. Their complimentary chips are alright, but they need to improve the salsa. It needs to be chunky. I always ask for their white sauce. Overall, I love coming here and would love to try other dishes too.

After 12 hours of driving and nearly two weeks straight of seafood, my soul was screaming for a margarita and melted cheese--and Mexico Restaurant delivered like a hero in queso-covered armor. We rolled in around 9 PM, weary and hungry, and were thrilled to find this spot right across from our hotel and still open. We grabbed seats at the bar and were instantly greeted with menus and warm hospitality. The second we said "yes" to chips, salsa, queso, and ice water, it felt like it all magically appeared. We ordered the strawberry jalapeño margaritas, and while they took a few minutes, they were worth the wait. Sweet, spicy, refreshing--my kind of trifecta. I loved the heat, but my boyfriend? Let's just say he was channeling Alicia Keys because his lips were on fire. (Zero complaints from me--I could've taken even more spice.) Food-wise, it hit the spot. He got the chimichanga, which was perfectly portioned and flavorful. I went à la carte with a cheese quesadilla and a cheese enchilada. Like I said I needed some melted cheese in my life lol... The enchilada was just okay, but the quesadilla? Delicious--especially when dunked in their zesty salsa with a sneaky little kick. Not sure why this place has anything less than glowing reviews, because our experience was solid across the board. Friendly service, tasty food, and a post-road-trip vibe reset. If you're nearby, don't sleep on it--especially if you're spicy-marg-curious.

First time ordering from here and the food was super flavorful. The chori pollo has just enough spice to keep you interested. The salads and ships are also tasty. My spouse is enjoying his steak with any grilled vegetables. We both with we had a little more queso on top of our food, but otherwise this was worth it! We also ordered through DoorDash and our food was still nice and hot!

Steamed steak and no chips or cheese.

First time trying this place. We placed a to go order. All of the orders were wrong - mostly missing items which we paid for. The meat was steamed. The supreme steak nachos had zero toppings and nothing packed up separately. The tacos were just chicken - nothing anything else. It was supposed to be refried beans. Instead it's pinto beans with a bit of cheese and no heads up that is what's coming. Stale chips. Bland queso. Not worth the drive! Just an awful first experience.

I was there on a Sunday night! Lot's of TVs with all the football games. Hot chips and salsa came quickly, and I liked the way the salsa was presented. I had the blackened Tilapia with veggies and rice, but most of the veggies were fried potatoes. The Tilapia was good, but very salty, But the service sitting at the bar was good.

It was still very good. Service was better than last time. Server Noticed drinks needed refilling. Without our asking. Got my usual chicken enchiladas. And had to take home one leftover enchilada. Spouse got the beef taco and beef enchilada. Both came with Spanish rice. We got a side of guacamole. It was a tasty addition to our meal. Overall a relaxing and good meal. Ended with a flan that we shared. It was a pleasure to finish with this sweet dessert.

To get in, you must know the password or tell the host a joke that makes him laugh. We were escorted in and quickly noticed that this was more than a speakeasy-it was a full restaurant. We stopped in for drinks, but it was nice to have tapas. I got the popcorn with the Tequilla lime butter, which was the perfect balance of salt. I had a mezcal drink which was perfect! I'm such a fan of mezcal and am excited when I see it on the menu. Our waitress was a delight-super attentive and also a bartender so she was able to answer all of our drink questions. It was very spacious with outdoor seating. Definitely a 10/10 experience. I would definitely go again!

He asked for the password and we, unprepared, had to tell him a joke or an interesting fact. Luckily, my partner had one on hand. The atmosphere was lovely, very reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy, or at least what you'd imagine it to be like. Our server came by within a few minutes of us being seated. She lacked enthusiasm, unlike the host, unfortunately. Her service turned out to be lackluster as well. We ordered the chicken pot pie and the filet mignon with asparagus. For drinks, the Grape Gatsby and Maine root beer. The food, like our server, lacked appeal. The saving grace was the host and the atmosphere. The view was lovely and the intimacy of the setting was a welcome experience. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding, and it was tasty, though nothing special. The burned odor that we smelled prior to its arrival turned out to be the bread. I can recommend Grandstaff and Stein as an experience, but you should not expect much in the way of culinary delights or exemplary service. We probably won't be back, but if you've never been, it's worth trying at least once.

Now let's talk food, because the wings and nachos here are absolutely to die for. The wings come out perfectly crispy with just the right amount of sauce, and the nachos are piled high and loaded in all the right ways. Every single time I order them I wonder why I ever eat anywhere else. But here's my pro tip -- hit happy hour. Trust me on this one. The daiquiris during happy hour are hands down the best in all of Richmond. Refreshing, perfectly balanced, and dangerously easy to drink. If they aren't part of the decor, it was a treat nonetheless. We stepped inside from the rain with a parking spot very near the door. I snapped a pic on the way in to capture it's essence. We risked another walk-in with no reservations, and we snagged two prime end seats on the communal table. There were two open seats at the bar as well; might come in handy some other rainy Thursday night. The server, Murphy M., judging by the receipt, who helped my partner and I with our order, was a gracious host and incredibly well-practiced. It was a master class in serving, made effortless by him. He could not have been more accommodating, as we saw him appear inevitably at the exact right moments. Our server offered us bread and oil before the appetizer. The bread here is made fresh daily. It was so soft, I could not tell the difference from store bought. The food was exquisitely well prepared, the chefs and kitchen staff are immensely skilled. The appetizer was presented to us within a relatively short amount of time. We had time for a short discussion before the it arrived. The Tiropita was described as "four pieces of heaven." Accurate. The phyllo was thin and crisp, and the feta was creamy and delicious. I was careful not to bite too hard and ruin my pants. I had the Kotopoulo, which is a feta-brined oven-baked chicken with lemon and herbs served with lemon potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection. The cooked potatoes were exactly as I like them, soft yet held their shape. It was an excellent meal, if a bit unwieldy (it's like half a rotisserie chicken, basically). My partner had the Hilopites, an egg noodle dish with giant beans, pine nuts, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and feta, in a creamy, savory sauce that I couldn't begin to describe with mere words. The meals were both stunning, made unclear by my disastrous photography. All that being said, I did not really enjoy my meal as I was expecting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's today, or maybe the flavors simply weren't what I am accustomed to with the dozens of Greek restaurants from my past. I'm uncertain, and that's okay sometimes. Either way, it was a fantastic experience, and I will dine here again.
