This is not my first Chuy's in the area, but this one has a small parking lot. I saw a covered garage across it, but wasn't sure if one could park there. Once inside, there are a few rooms with different decor. I asked for a booth, so was seated in a room on the right with rims on the ceiling. so cool! First off, my waitress was so nice. she recommended I try the Green Chile Fried Chicken. Wow! If you like your chicken fried, this is different. It is fried using Lay's potato chip! It is so crunchy and delish! I had them put the chile on the side. Only complaint is that the chicken was half the size from the picture on their website. Felt a little cheated here. My guest had the King's Memorial combo. It was huge, but bursting with flavors and it came with a crispy taco on the side. Their complimentary chips are light and great and they have a white sauce and real tomatoes in their dip. Definitely returning to try more things. read more

I get the hype. The interior is colorful, kitschy, and feels clean. Our server was very attentive and funny. The dips really are good. Loved the creamy jalapeño sauce, the salsa was refreshing and bright, and the queso was yellow with (likely) rotel mixed in, but definitely delicious. The chips are a little too thin and don't stand up as well against the thick queso and salsa. We really enjoyed the fajitas and the plethora of accompaniments. The beans are a little off but nothing alarming but the tortillas were super soft. They met our expectations for a white mexican establishment. Although Chuy's is a chain it is not local to where I live so when visiting VA I knew we had to try it! Started with chips and queso because duh. Their queso is different than most Mexican restaurants in that it's a yellow cheese base vs white cheese but wow was it so good! And I loooooved the complimentary creamy jalapeño dipping sauce, I could seriously drink it! & the chips were perfectly thin and crispy. For my entree I got one shrimp taco and one chicken taco. It comes with rice on the side too! The shrimp was fried and came with a nice crunchy slaw, I also added some of the jalapeño dip on it! The chicken was good but nothing too special. I forgot about Chuy's. Mainly because I really only eat one thing at Mexican restaurants and chuy's doesn't have it so I never think about it. My friend came in town and she really wanted to go se we did. I got the hardshell tacos and she got the soft shell tacos. It was delicious. I would go again. I went to pick up several dinners and a huge thing of spicy white sauce, bc I love it and use it on everything, and they crammed it all into one bag. When I got home, as I was walking to my front door the bottom of the bag broke and well, it ruined 100 bucks worth of food. Discovered Chuy's recently and must say I was shocked about the interior. The place is so gorgeous. Whenever I want to travel I visit Chuy's because of its tropical vibes. The other nice thing is that the restaurant is super spacious each section has its own decor. Whenever I go, I order the Chuychanga (fried burrito) it costs around -$13 . It's tastes good . I always get their Tres Leches cake as well. It's really sweet and heavy so definitely save some space for it! -Costs around -$8. The service is REALLY QUICK! My Steve and I have been to this eatery many times and if I could give it six stars I would. We've learned over the years that it's not just food that makes a restaurant stand out it's service. The staff at Chuy's go out of their way to make my husband and I feel like family. Jennifer one of the hostesses along with waitresses Jackie, Melissa, and Melissa Nicole, Jennifer, and waiter Marco excel at their jobs and are the warmest friendliest people we have ever met. The interior puts me in mind of a museum. One dining section has a ceiling filled with hubcaps and photos of classic cars line the walls, while other dining areas feature photographs of Mexican people. Another has framed pictures of dogs and cats. The food is amazing. Huge portions I almost always have leftovers to take home. My husband always gets the beef tacos in a soft shell. He skips the re fried beans and saves the rice for me. I enjoy tacos but also enjoy the burritos, enchiladas, and salads. The Mexican cobb features chicken and avocado and the taco salad has guac and a protein choice of steak, chicken, or ground beef. So surprised Chuy's review rating isn't a 5!!! The food is excellent! I've had the hardest time finding good Mexican food here in Virginia, and although this is a chain restaurant, it's SO delish!!! The thin chips with just the right amount of salt, the ranch sauce, the pico, the queso, the Tres Leches, and every entree I have tried have been so tasty! I love that the chicken is marinated and so flavorful as well in the chicken flautas. My husband and I share an appetizer plate here every week, and the price is so reasonable for the amount of food you receive! Mom took me out for lunch since it was my birthday recently and my only stipulation was Mexican food. I didn't mind what restaurant and skre pointed out that neither of us have been here so we decided to check it out. The vibe is very relaxed and friendly. We were in the Short Pump area, and I had heard that Chuy's is an extension of the Austin-based Mexican restaurants that I had heard good things about. We decided to stop in for a quick lunch. They were busier than we anticipated for Friday at 2 in the afternoon. Then again, it's located in a busy shopping area and we came in on the last weekend before Christmas - so it was pretty crowded. We ordered and I'm pretty sure we got our food in less than 5 minutes! We chose the fajita combo. The flavors were for sure authentic. They marinate their fajita meat in Shiner Bock (a beer made in Texas), serranos, and spices - you can taste all of those in the steak and chicken for sure. Minus a star because our tortillas were cold and even a little hard on the edges, as if they'd been sitting in the container for some time. The employee was great with recommendations related to getting shrimp entrees that we wanted. First they start you off with amazing salsa and chips. It's addictive, I wanted to eat a lot of it and not stop. Then you order your entrees. This part was confusing because majority of the menu was meat or chicken within almost every item. However, the server was great and let us customize what we wanted. We ordered soft tacos with shrimp/cheese (this was decent). We also ordered enchiladas with shrimp with sauce drenched on top, that was delicious. The sides you can choose are many but we ordered all the dishes with French fries, beans and rice. My wife has seen this place for around 7-8 years and never tried it so we decided to give it a chance. The interior is amusing to say the least like many Mexican restaurants. It can certainly be a good conversation starter! We got seated pretty fast and our waiter already introduced himself with the introductory chips. He was very fast and attentive. The menu was very colorful and clean, easy to understand and to navigate. My wife ordered the Chuychanga and was very pleased by it, she said that the sauce mixed with cheese was a nice touch, the chicken wasn't dry and the tortilla shell although fried wasn't oily at all, it was all served with the classic refried beans and rice with a scoop of sour cream. I ordered the Steak Burrito and I gotta say, it is definitely bigger than my face! Although simple, the steak was delicious and not dry at all as typically is in Mexican restaurants. It wasn't overly cheesy either with the refried beans and rice that come with it make it a nice combination. The plates came to the table really quickly and extremely hot. It was a lot of food plus chips for the price, definitely worth it. We got too full for desert unfortunately but the tres leches cake sounded like a good time! I'm FLOORED that Chuy's holds a 3.5 star rating and a place like Tres Machos is still holding a 4. I adore Chuy's to be honest. For me it's the closest thing I can find in all of Richmond to an authentic California wet burrito. The chips are light and crispy and the salsa is delicious. I also love their funky jalapeno ranch sauce. For me the flagship item is the Famous "Big As Yo' Face" Burrito. I pick the seasoned ground sirloin with Tex-Mex for the sauce. You can't beat this combo but I'll try their Ranchero sauce on my next visit. I just don't get why my fellow Virginians love their burritos DROWED in white cheese sauce and then sprinkle some stupid tomato chunks on top of that. NO NO NO. This is the way the truth and the life. You put sauce on it and then cheese and then melt the cheese on top of it. Just check out my pictures. For two white boys to get it this right since '82 is saying something. At the time of this writing the stock is holding steady at $30 bucks a share! GO AHEAD FELLAS! Anyway, I know Chuy's has its roots in Austin Texas and my fiancé has eaten at the original spot which is pretty cool. The chips were thin and crispy with a nice salty taste, the salsa was a lil salty but tasted better as I took each bite. My entrees was bajan tacos. They were fried/tilapia and a fried shrimp one. Combined with the sauce and dressing this was pretty good but not memorable. Because I'm pescatarian, I eat alot of fish tacos, and this just wasnt that great. I've been by Chuy's many times, and today I finally decided to try it. To start off with, the colors really pop out at you when you walk in, it's very vibrant and bright. I thought that was cool. It also has a ton of paintings on the wall that're interesting to check out. Today is Wednesday and we decided to get the Wednesday special, which was four little tacos with a side of rice and refried beans. It was all pretty good, and not a bad price at all at only $10. I definitely recommend it, they also bring chips and salsa out first, so you're definitely getting a good amount of food. The waitstaff was helpful, friendly and provided top notch service. What I liked best is that when you say "thank you", they respond with "You're welcome" instead of "no problem" (a pet peeve).
