We came to Mexicolombia and honestly I didn't know what to expect. It's Mexican mixed with Colombian, which sounded cool. The menu is pretty big but I wanted to try something different so I ordered the arepa de carne. When it came out, the plate was huge. The arepa had that nice crunch on the outside, but inside the meat was crazy good, juicy, tender, and seasoned just right. Every bite kinda hit that perfect mix of texture. The place itself feels fun, colorful murals everywhere, kinda gives you energy as soon as you walk in. Staff was chill, friendly without being over the top, and the food came out quicker than I thought. I'd definitely come back just for that arepa, but now I'm curious about the rest of the menu. This is a Mexican-Colombian fusion restaurant in Brighton Park serving traditional Colombian and Mexican dishes and some of the best cemitas poblanas I've had! The bread is incredibly soft and pillowy (even more so than a torta), and the meat fillings are so flavorful. My favorite was the steak cemita poblana. I also tried the Mini Bandeja Paisa, a Colombian lunch plate that was a little pricey ($20), but was hearty, filling, and allowed me to try a bit of everything-- plantain, egg, steak, pork, arepa, and rice. The service is very warm, friendly, and the food comes out quickly. The prices are good/reasonable for the portions too, though an extra surcharge is placed on card transactions. read more

Here we go, a 5 for me, and you all know I don't give 5's! I have been craving Columbian food for quite some time, and I didn't want to go up north. So I've been passing Mexicolumbia for years, and today I was passing, and BAMM had to stop by. And I'm so glad I did! I had the mini bandeja since this is what my craving was. White rice with a cup of beans and an egg on top. But the chicharron is what sets it off. Pork skin fried is a delicacy, and they didn't skimp on the portion! If you're like me and don't eat big dishes, this is the one for you. Perfect size for one but still way more food than I could have eaten in one sitting! We also ordered the dinner portion of the bandeja, and it served it up with soup and an avocado. But again, the portion was enough for two! I have to admit I am the type who enjoys food but not tons at one time. So the bandeja I ordered was seriously the perfect size. It also contained mini arepa which I found "cute" as it was dollar sized. I wanted more, so I ordered and empanada and again, being that this is Colombian food with Mexican fusion, I wasn't sure what to expect. But wow it was really good. When you pour some of their sauce over it, you will know the plesure of great tasting food combos. I ended up going to the front counter and ordering some of their pastries. The arepa with queso is beyond amazing in taste. I took them to go so i was really happy that the young gentleman told me to heat it up with the chesse they provided on top for around a minute and a half. This was such a good arepa (corn meal fritter I want to call it). What a wonderful tasting bit of Colombia. Oh, and I have to add that the service was impeccable. It is just so kind and attentive, which is what we like. Seriously, a kind place to visit with food that the Southside usually doesn't serve. That's a plus I'm itself. Parking is street, so it's not a breaking point for me, but it's safe and very much appreciated with this being on the Southside. Oh, and I also had an empanada that was beyond delicious! I was very excited to try this spot as I'm Mexican and my boyfriend is Colombian. We were very happy with the food and have returned twice already. One of the better spots for authentic Colombian food, the calentado, arepas, and buñuelos were all great! Only thing we didn't love were the empanadas but we may have gotten those at an off time as it was nearing the end of the day when we got them. As for the Mexican food the tlacoyos are very good. Service is quick and staff are all friendly. Many baked goods to choose from as well. Would definitely suggest this to anyone who likes trying out unique fusion spots or just anyone who's interested in trying Colombian food! read more

Found this spot along the way.Saw their advertisement of Tacos Arabes on their window and was immediately curious.WHAT IS A TACO ARABE???? Sooooo,I immediately began conducting my research like a TRUE YELPER!!! Lol.And came to find out that tacos arabes are indeed a thing in the Mexican city of Puebla.It began whith a mass imigration of Lebanese immigrants fleeing from the Middle East and settling in Puebla.The owners are from Puebla,Mexico.And the tacos are delicious!! They also serve Colombian food as the husband of this mom and pop establishment learned to cook Colombian food while living in New York.And the empanadas are really good as well.I tried two different kind.So glad I stopped in today.Thumbs up!! read more

Mexicolombia serves very delicious food. I have had both the Mexican cuisine and the Colombian cuisine and each time that I have eaten here, my meals have been consistently delicious Yesterday, I had the carne asada dinner Colombian style. It came with plátanos, salad, rice and beans. I also got the chicken soup, which had bowtie pasta, and chunks of potatoes and carrots. Fresh cilantro garnished the soup I thought that the presentation of the meal, especially the soup, was very gourmet, very appealing. This restaurant is a welcomed-addition to the Brighton Park neighborhood, as it opened during the pandemic. It is a family-owned business; They are very nice. For these reasons, plus what I mentioned about its delicious food, I wish Mexicolombia success in the restaurant industry. read more
