This was such a cute little find. The decor is amazing for photo ops. Staff was friendly and very helpful with providing me suggestions for drink and food choices. I started out with the Cafe de olla which is one of their specialty coffees (very unique delicious taste and not too sweet). My meal was the french toast 3 leches(soooo good ) and my hubby had the steak and eggs which came with a nice green sauce. Everything was excellent. Okay so I went to the location in Berwyn and although I thought it was too expensive at least it was good. Today we came to celebrate my friends birthday and it was terrible service. We all ordered cafe de olla, (supposed to be warm) and it was cold. We kindly asked the waitress if we can get it warmed up since it was cold, and she touched the coffee and said no it feels warm. At that point we asked for a new coffee because GERMS!! She still seemed bothered by it, but did bring us new coffee ?? I orders the chilaquiles with bistec. It was brought out pretty quickly but this place smells like strong adhesive. I asked for no onions on my club sandwich and it was still served with onions. I know these things happen but this place is not busy. It's 2pm and we were one of three tables with customers, mistakes like these shouldn't happen. The waitress never came to ask how the food/everything was after our food was brought to us. And cutting off the breakfast at a certain time I thought was for busy places in order to keep the cooking easy for the cooks. I don't know, but I honesty think I won't be coming back. The meal I ordered I would rate it a 6, I ordered the chicken Peri-Peri I recommend ordering this meal second. It does take a while for them to make it because they use fresh ingredients. The service takes long because this place does tend to take long when serving meals. I wish I ordered an appetizer before the meal. The ambiance is really nice, they play reggae Spanish music. I dined here today and the service is TERRIBLE. They have so many servers and not ONE checked in on us. They took so long for our food to come out, it took 5 minutes for us to get syrup and we had ordered Nutella pancakes, they LIGHTLY put Nutella on our pancakes. After i had asked for more Nutella and showing them that it BARELY had any, they even charged me EXTRA for Nutella. Every time I needed something I had to ask a different server for what I needed because our server didn't bother to stop by and ask. I also had to remind them twice about my water and Nutella to different servers. This is the second time I come to this location and the service never fails to SUCK. We used to love their chilaquiles until we went recently and noticed 1. They cut down their portions 2. They have watered down the sauce a lot- to the point that the taste is off 3. They raised their prices $5 (not bad if it included meat but for just tortilla and eggs? I was pretty disappointed by the food here given the good reviews. My friend and I came here for breakfast. I ordered d'nuez pancakes and she ordered an omelet with a side of fries. The pancakes tasted burnt and the fruit on top wasn't as fresh. After eating a full pancake, I noticed a small piece of hair on one of the sliced bananas. I pointed it out to the waitress and she kindly apologized and appropriately gave me a discount for it. My friend's omelet was average and not well seasoned. The only decent thing on her plate was the fries which were well crisped and better than the rest of her plate. The portions of food were huge for a pretty good price. Every breakfast platter was $14+ and doesn't specify if it comes with a side of toast, or a side of hash browns or anything similar, which probably didn't include any. Which I opted out of ordering an omelette and ordered crepes. Which didn't came out piping hot and was probably not freshly made, followed by adding very little to almost no nuts after being asked if I wanted toppings that included nuts. Coffee was not hot enough served in disposable to go cups, despite it possibly being a pandemic precaution, which makes no sense to serve disposable cups for dining in. Personnel, very attentive, beautiful smiles and in my opinion genuine desire to interact and engage on customer service. Ordered a chop salad, since my triglycerides are high but had the chance to check the whole menu. It has a variety of items that look very interesting. This is not your topical restaurant or eatery that you're going to find in South Chicago. My salad was delicious, proportionate, chicken perfectly seasoned. Avocado was kind of "old", but still eatable. I got "agua fresca" or infused water like some people call it. It was pineapple-mango flavor. Kind of meh, not very flavorful. Wasn't impressed because for the price, i could go to any "Michoacana" Ice cream bar that are all over Chicago and get something more authentic. Prices are decent. Not cheap as "taqueria" establishment but not too pricey I guess for the vast choice of stuff they have.
