I cannot explain how much of an amazing experience I had at Mexicue tonight. Dazhia and Jose took care of us at my friend's birthday dinner and made everyone feel so welcomed and excited. It is hard to come by such an eclectic atmosphere especially during the COVID-19 public health risk. Despite being socially distanced between two tables, our friends were able to all unite for our friend Morgan's birthday and celebrate her the way we always should. The music really set the mood of a fun, lively scene. My friends and I were admiring the architecture of the building and were astounded that this establishment is not also a night club. For what it's worth, my friends and I would be the first in line if it was. Thank you again Dazhia and Jose and the Mexicue team for making the night. We arrived on time for our 7:30 reservation and were shown to a table that hadn't been wiped down. There we broken tortilla chips on the floor. About 10 minutes later the waitress--who was clearly working hard--took an order for two margaritas and some guacamole "while we think about what to have for dinner." At this point--in fact, never--were we offered a menu. After 40 more minutes and several apologies, the guacamole arrived. It was great. We waited another 20 minutes for our two margaritas, which arrived about 8:45. We weren't willing to risk waiting additional hours for food, so we paid our check at left at 9 pm. I was a huge fan of Mexicue's designer tacos and followed their truck around Manhattan before they started opening restaurants. I'll try to get some of those great short rib tacos again someday, after they get their act together in Stamford. read more

My friend and I made a reservation a full 24 hours before arriving for dinner. We were told our reservation was for outside dining at 7:30pm. We arrived right on time to find a line out the door of people waiting to be seated. No host/hostess was to be seen for 10 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes for our table, we were told outdoor seating "is first come first served". Why did we make a reservation then? We were seated at a table for 6 inside (were a party of 2). The waitress forgot our queso, our food was cold and we didn't get any water refills. I was sorely disappointed by this experience, this restaurant was a mess. read more

We have ordered from Mexicue in Stamford in the past and loved the food. This was our first time visiting the restaurant and our group sat on the outside patio overlooking the water - dine-in was even better. We ordered appetizers as well as some of the sharing platters, crispy fish and cornbread. The food was fresh and very flavorful. We found the staff pleasant and helpful. Our two servers were well versed on the menu, offered highlights and were always there when we needed them. We eat out several times per week and plan to be regulars at Mexicue! The food here is pretty decent but the service I got last week was unacceptable. It was Labor Day and I went out for dinner with a friend. We made a reservation well in advance and were asked to wait 20 minutes -- fine. We were finally sat, an hour passed and not once did a server come to take our order. We asked passing servers what was happening and still nothing. We overheard a server at another table explain to patrons that several people called out and the owner refused to close. This isn't so much the servers fault as it is the owner. It's unacceptable to run a full restaurant with half the staff AND no sight of the owner helping. The end result is an overworked staff, unhappy patrons and a ruined reputation. That's the last time I support a restaurant that's more worried about money than doing the right thing. read more

I am new to the Harbor Point neighborhood and wanted to love this place but I have been twice now (neither time was particularly busy) and service is just terrible. Servers are not attentive and once you are able to finally put in an order, do not expect to receive a drink for at least 20 minutes and any food for even longer. Also - our waitress had not come to our table in 30 minutes and I was hoping to put in 1 more order for a Happy Hour Margarita. She got to the table at 7:01 on the dot and let me know I could not have another HH Marg because it was now past 7. Will not be going back until service drastically improves. We loved everything about this place so much that we drove 1hr to get there! This was our 2nd time at this location - my wife wanted to eat there for Mother's Day. Our excellent dining experience was further enhanced by our outstanding server, Denver D. Celebrated a friends birthday here with about ten people, the service was friendly and timely. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated a few minutes after the initial time but nothing to complain about. We had great seats outside with a great view. The food overall was tasty... surprisingly I enjoyed the lettuce tacos a lot more than the regular ones. Didn't expect to have authentic life changing Mexican food here since it is a bbq and Mexican fusion restaurant. However I did expect the drinks to be better. Came today for my sisters birthday brunch and we were excited to have some good food and margaritas. Unfortunately the service was so slow that we didn't receive our drinks until 45 minutes after sitting down. Waitstaff showed a complete lack of effort - nobody came to take our order, no candle or anything despite saying it was a birthday , no plates for our appetizer until we asked, etc. I am always understanding when things are busy or kitchen is backed up but there was simply no acknowledgment by our waitress that the service was incredibly slow. I'm a Bartaco, Bodega, and Barcelona regular - and I think Mexicue has them all beat - at least when it comes to tacos and ingenuity. I had the lobster taco, Nashville hot chicken taco, and jambalaya. Each dish was filled with complex flavor and the meat to tortilla to topping ratio was spot on. They surprisingly don't have a great tequila or mezcal selection, opting to specialize in cocktails. Beer selection was nothing to write home about but they had about six Mexican and craft beer on tap. I'm pretty sure they kept the decor from Paloma - the previous tenant. Not sure about the food, but Customer Service 101 is sorely needed. Made a Mother's Day reservation for 11:00am on their website. Confirmed TWICE. Arrived at 11am, restaurant closed tighter than a drum, with a padlock and thick chain securing the door. I knocked on the door, eventually a young man opened the door a sliver and said the restaurant opened at 11:30am. I showed him my confirmation, he said there had been a mass text sent out at 9:19am changing the reservation. I asked to see the manager, he went away, came back a few minutes later and said the manager said the doors opened at 11:30, we could wait for 30 minutes. Well, ok. Here's how it could have gone: "Sorry for the confusion, especially on Mother's Day. Why don't you sit at one of our outdoor tables and I'll bring you a glass of water while you wait?" Or something like that. So easy. Instead, we drove up to the New Canaan Diner, where everyone was happy to see us, we had a great brunch, and they gave my wife a red rose for Mother's Day. read more

Rap music blaring in the restaurant, water all over the floor near the bar, quality of food not worth the price.. we had 3 different waiters and each of them didn't know what the other one was doing (they were really nice though). Expected to have a better Mexican food experience at a "Mexican" restaurant in an expensive neighborhood. After CoVid hit NYC, Connecticut opened up sooner than Brooklyn for outdoor dining so we decided to drive up here to dine out. To my surprise the food here was really delicious. I say to my surprise because I distinctly remember eating Mexicue in the city and not being as impressed. We ordered Poblano Mac & Cheese, pulled pork, chicken, brisket and shrimp tacos along with some margaritas. Everything was absolutely delectable. The meats were well cooked, well seasoned and the tortillas were nice and crisp. The margaritas were delightful as well. The scenery is nice and calm as they will have you sitting by the water in the back of the restaurant. For the time being you can only seat 4 to a table. I was in a group of 6 and we had to sit at 2 different tables which to me was no big deal. Not sure how long those seating arrangements will last but I would imagine through the summer. Overall the food was great and this is definitely a place I intend to come back to this summer! read more

Absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is perfectly decorated, and they have a beautiful outdoor seating arrangement right on the water for the warmer months. The cooks are AMAZING here, the food is consistently delicious. Our server Valentina was INCREDIBLE, she's so sweet and always on her game, as well as the rest of the staff!
