This is a great addition to the Harbor Point lineup. Though a smaller space than it looks from the outside, once it gets warmer and the outside seating opens up it'll be pretty spacious. It'll also be a great happy hour spot (and is now) since it's right on the water. The chips and queso was delicious, and probably enough for 4 and a little too much for the 2 of us. The grilled cornbread is the same story, and again delicious. One taco would be enough with a few sides, two of the tapas items are definitely a full meal. Drinks are great but a little expensive. Wait staff is very attentive, but still learning the ropes (asking salt or sugar with margs, splitting a check etc). They say they don't take reservations but yelp seems to allow you to? Also no parking lot, will have to park and walk. Overall super excited to return when it gets warmer! read more

Waitstaff is too notch!! That made the dinner in itself! For parking there is a garage and an open lot just a 2 min walk away. The whole vibe of this place made me want to patio dine (but it's March). We started with the guacamole,reg chips and fresh not cooked or fried watermelon radish chips (don't have any real flavor but calorie free and fantastic when topped with guac)I hughes recommend the chopped salad adding smoked chicken and a side or corn bread which I ended up breaking up throughout my salad and it was life changing! I ate here with my boyfriend last week and really enjoyed it! For a Wednesday night it was really crowded! Maybe it's the beautiful scenery that surrounds it. We decided to sit at the bar and have some apps and drinks. I hate the traditional margarita and he had a beer. Our bartender, Armen, really took care of us. My Margarita was delicious! Sad to say the food is pretty much horrible . I was so excited when I learned Mexicue was opening at Harbor Point. It's a great location, great atmosphere for a killer Mexican restaurant, decor is spot on. Service is decent. Waterfront dining. They have everything for the making of a great restaurant, except good food. I gave it two tries. The first time I ate there for lunch I was disappointed. I ordered 3 types of tacos and they were all swimming in so many toppings (slaw, pico de gallo, cheese, salsa, crema) that I couldn't taste any of the meats and it was just messy. Second time I ordered 1 tacos,1 slider, and 1 burrito bullet, learning my lesson, I asked for a couple of the toppings to be on the side. Now I know why they load up the meats with so many toppings. The meats are terrible. No flavor what so ever, unless you like salt, A LOT of SALT. Crazy salty. Meats were also extremely overcooked, dry and almost jerky like. The pork belly was like leather. The smoked chicken was so salty I almost choked. I can say the corn bread was good. It was a very welcomed sweetness to help rid the salt overkill. Guacamole is good, but unfortunately the tortilla chips are tough and very hard. My teeth literally hurt after eating the chips. read more

Was not impressed with the rice bowl .. had higher hopes. The rice was dry and hard and wasn't that flavorful... the poke in it was ok . I have had better . The thing that impressed me the most was the bartender. He was beyond nice to us ! Felt very comfortable and really enjoyed my time there !! Came to Mexicue and was greeted by a friendly bartender named Bernie. I told him I wanted a spicy drink and he recommended the Grape Fruit Paloma. Def one of my favorite new drinks. I see the reviews for this restaurant vary widely. I am going to give this place another shot at some point but for my first time going it was a terrible experience. As a party of four we arrived on Sunday at 6 PM on what was the first weekend of great weather of 2018. I understand they were probably not prepared for the amount of customers they would have but everything was just poorly managed. With other locations in NYC and having a location with rooftop and outdoor seating on the harbor, they should have been a little better prepared. Upon arriving, we were told there would be a 50 minute wait for a table - okay we put our name on the list and went to the bar. While walking to the bar we saw many empty tables. I went back to the hostess to ask why they weren't seating anyone and she told me the kitchen and waitstaff were overwhelmed and needed a chance to catch up. Meanwhile, we were served at the bar by the most unwelcoming, rudest bartender I have ever been served by. The drinks were decent but she was actually just throwing the liquid and ice around, making a huge sticky mess all over the bar. She was wearing a glove on one hand but was also handling money with it - gross. We were starving and I asked about ordering food at the bar, to which she sarcastically replied, "we are a restaurant, no we don't serve food here." OK we were told the kitchen was backed up and NO ONE at the crowded bar had food. Rude. So at that point you would think she would have told us they ran out of chips but she waited until I ordered an appetizer (3/4 of the appetizers required chips to make). I then settled for the poke bowl, which was just okay. The rice was a bit undercooked and it just did not taste fresh. After being there for 45 minutes and the place emptying out while no one else was being seated, we decided not to waste any more time and money there. We were a party of 7. Drinks took 30 min to come, food took almost 1 hour. They don't have all the mezcals listed on their menu and are not knowledgeable about the mezcals they have. Food came lukewarm, only a few dishes were warm. Our food orders were all mixed up, they gave us the wrong order. We didn't even bother looking at the bill because there was so much confusion. Overall, food was just ok. Not a place I would come back again. Two stars -1 for location, and 2 because the waiter really apologized for the confusion and he was very polite about it. read more

While visiting my old stomping grounds since moving to Fl, I met up with a friend who suggested we try this spot. Since I've moved, lots have changed for the better in Stamford. Still overly priced but, that's Connecticut. This spot is cute and trendy. We sat at the bar. Chairs aren't that comfortable. The bartender was nice but needs more training. Seemed young and oblivious. He wasn't attentive and lacked general customer service skills. We sat for over 5min before someone acknowledged us. I decided on Angels Envy on the rocks bc i didn't want to order a cocktail and it not be made to my liking. The menu is limited and I couldn't decide what I wanted. I love me some guac and I just wanted a small amount which on the menu didn't seem and a taco. The bartender said they could accommodate so that's what I ordered. The food arrived and I was pleased. The guac was good. Had nice flavor but I'm a muy caliente person so I wanted it to be a bit more spicy. The taco was decent. I'm Eh for this place. It's trendy and in a good location but if I'm in the area, I don't know if I would suggest to return. My girlfriend reserved a space on the roof for 50-60 people for this coming Saturday, including trays of food, with the event planner Chrissy. She then cancels on us 8 days prior to the event (keep in mind people are traveling from out of town) because another party wanted the entire roof section and paid $10k for it. So basically what happened was that the manager wanted a larger commission, so she cancelled everything we had planned and didn't make any effort whatsoever to accommodate us elsewhere. This all could have been avoided if you gave us part of the outside patio and a tray of chips and guac on the house...but you turned down 60 late 20s and early 30s customers who will now most likely never return to your establishment. I was impressed that they were able to seat my party of 7 so quickly. We originally called ahead but wound up being late and our table was given away. Despite the setback we were still seated within the 5 minutes of arriving. Here are a few things that impacted my night: 1. Many (if not all) tables/seating is barstool style. As someone is a little bottom heavy, this is my nightmare and I spent much of my time here just adjusting my butt or just trying to straighten out my back when I'm slouching. 2. Arugula. It is EVERYWHERE. On your tacos, on your slaw - everywhere. I truly dislike arugula and found myself picking out the pieces that covered my food. I guess they use it in sub of cilantro? Not sure but it is everywhere and it made me super upset as it was nearly impossible to take it all out. Especially due to point number 3. 3. The table we were seated at did not have lighting above us. Reading the menu or even looking down at our food was difficult as you couldn't really see. We spent some time using our phone lights to check out the menu and look at our meals when they came. 4. Although our waitress took care of what she needed to, it wasn't anything out of ordinary. Runners came to deliver the food but had no idea where it went so it was a lot of yelling across the table of "did you order this or is this yours?" I would have appreciated more attention paid to seats and delivering the food. Otherwise, tacos were tasty. I had pulled pork that was o.k. but the rock shrimp one was amazing! I also had Mexican street corn that was delightful. We ordered guacamole for the table and I think the avocados used were too ripe because they had these long unappetizing strings of avocado in it and it made the texture off. We had also had margaritas that were strong and enjoyable. I'd like to see what this restaurant will be like when the weather is nicer and maybe some of the kinks of staffing get ironed out. read more

While my boyfriend and I were sitting at the bar, the waiter pointed out to the bartenders that there was a FLY in a drink a costumer had ordered and instead of making a new one, the bartenders took the FLY out with a straw and served this drink to the costumer--GROSS! We also wanted to have a freshly made margarita and sangria, but were served a pre-made margarita mix on tap and what looked like a cheap sangria mix that you buy at a liquor store when you're in college and all you want to do is get wasted with the less amount of money as possible. Went to Mexicue with a colleague of mine from out of town.. dinner cost nearly $150 for the two of us.. the server suggested we order a small salad bowl with a side taco - as its very popular with most people who visit.. was very disappointed when the $15 small bowl had enough salad to fit in the palm of my hand.. would have also of loved to sit on the rooftop to give her a great view of Stamford but it wasn't open - b/c it never is... bottom line Mexicue is overpriced and a waste of a great location read more

Pretty good food. Fun concept. One big problem they really need to fix. We ordered nachos and most of the nachos were crunchy, but some of the chips in the nachos were really soggy. I can only guess that they're just too oily that some of the chips got soggy. There's nothing worse than soggy, oily chips. They were unedible. Outside of that, the food was good. The salad was very good. We got smoked chicken and herb chicken. The herb chicken was beyond dry. I knew it was dry just by the way it looked. Everything else was decent. It's worth a try. read more

I had such a delightful experience during my first visit to Mexicue! The view was as amazing as the food which was accompanied by incredible and very personal service. Karen was my waiter and she was awesome! She gave great recommendations of the menu and was incredibly attentive and on point with her service. I was dining alone after a few meetings in the area commuting from Hartford area and really preferred to enjoy the view rather than be stuck in rush hour traffic. The service was awful. It took them half an hour to seat us (we have the text message to prove it). The server took 15 minutes before she took our drink orders. Once we finally ordered, it was 20 minutes before she came back to confirm our order. We were sitting at the table for over an hour with no food. Once I complained, she got the food. The table next to us had a bug crawl onto it. The bartender came over and crushed it on the table and flicked it on the floor. No washing up. This place is gross, the servers inept and the back of the house incompetent. It ruined my evening and I got the privilege of paying them for it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. No complaints about the quality of the offering nor the service but it's very expensive. $15 for a glass of Chardonnay! Each taco is $5.50. Chips & guacamole is $13.
