This place has the absolute worst service and incompetent staff I've ever seen in a restaurant. Had a reservation last night, arrived on time. (Incompetent) hostess told us they were just setting a table and we would be sat in a few. Once the table was set, she sat a different group that arrived AFTER us & without a reservation. She apologized for that mistake when we asked her what was going on. After another 20 minutes of us waiting for the next table to open...SHE DID IT AGAIN!!! In a time when there are millions of people unemployed and thousands in our local area begging for jobs, you'd think this joint would be hiring the cream of the crop. More like cream of the flop. I am posting for a friend. Diner beware. My friend made a reservation through this restaurant's third party link. A credit card was needed to secure. Unfortunately, said friend needed to cancel and did so through text link from third party. Mexicue still charged $15 to the card and won't make any effort to credit back this money. Ridiculous!!!! The PERFECT place to head in Stamford when the weather is good. Great outdoor seating options: in the patio, in the inside or on the upstairs deck. Tons of sunlight, airflow and social distance. For the food: Really can't go wrong w anything. I'd recommend trying stuff you normally wouldn't because the chef does such a good job pairing the ingredients that everything is complex and flavorful. The avocado and the crispy fish tacos were amazing. Tuna ceviche tostada was great too, can tell the tuna is super fresh and high quality. For the drinks: mezcal mule w the tiny ghost pepper is really well constructed. Mandarita is a MUST. For the service: we've had Roxy and Roselle. They're the best in CT! Really friendly, great w recommendations. Quick, totally on top of it, but also really fun and lively. Had our next round there just as we were finishing the last one. Do yourself a favor and dont come here hungry. We were a larger party, and seated immediately which was nice, but it was downhill from there. First, it wasn't packed, and it took a while to order our drinks because our waitress had no clue about the drink flavors, and what they served in pitchers. Finally ordered drinks, then some appetizers to start. Our appetizers arrived and we even finished them BEFORE our drinks were out. The waitress could clearly care less about it, she forgot to put ice in the cups and brought out one small pitcher of ice for 10 people. Kindly we asked for another, and her face of shock as if we asked the most horrific request of her life. Drinks *finally* arrived and were the only highlight of this entire meal. Our food order was all messed up, even though she read it back to us and we told her the correct way it should be. The tacos are expensive for what they give you, and really lacking flavor. They give you 2 piece of shrimp in a taco for $7!!!! and the Lobster taco is $9!!!! Crazy. The worst part of our experience was the service. At the end of the meal a few ordered an extra round of drinks and our server came out with the wrong drinks and put it on the table. We kindly corrected her, and she asked if we wanted to keep them while she got the correct drinks, so we said yeah, sure. When the bill arrived SHE CHARGED US FOR THE INCORRECT DRINKS SHE BROUGHT US. I have years of service experience and know that when ANYTHING touches the table, whether it be drink or food, that it is garbage and cannot be reserved. I went inside to correct the bill, as 2 TINY glasses of sangria came out to be an additional $30 charge, and was met with SUCH an attitude by the server. Instead of apologizing, or understanding why we shouldn't have been charged she rolled her eyes, turned her back, and called the manager over who was just as rude and annoyed about the situation. Their customer service was some of the worst us as a whole groupd have experienced. All of the servers had an attitude as if you're impeding on them by asking simple questions which is their job. I absolutely loved my experience here today--especially because of the service. I come here fairly often and have been for three years now. Our server, Juan, was definitely a huge part of this. I am vegan and he did everything he could to ensure I had options--which were absolutely amazing. I got the loaded vegan nachos and they were amazing. However, both my friend and I had a peanut allergy and he quickly and respectively consulted with the kitchen staff to ensure our allergy specific needs were met. Overall, the food never disappoints & our server, Juan, was a delight. We will be requesting him every time moving on. read more

If you're big on service... this is not the place. Food was decent but the staff was very spacey and unfriendly. As the food came out to the table, the server basically threw the food down. He was very impatient and actually "set aside" a dish because no one heard him as he was bringing out entrees. The food has never disappointed but the online ordering was time for pick up is never correct (at least 5/5 times I've ordered to pick up. I've waited at least 25mins - 40mins after I select a pick-up time. I understand the wait in a Covid world, just an easy way to set expectations by aligning pickup times with how long is will actually take Update: (6th times a charm right?) Gave it another try....and waited the longest I've ever waited - 45mins past the pickup order time for the my takeout order of 4 tacos. A couple next to me (with a dine -in reservation) waited 10 mins and the hostess gave him a free beer for the inconvenience and free chips and salsa to the other man waiting for pickup. (I didn't get anything or acknowledgement of the inconvenience- not sure why I was left out of that). I approached the hostess at 15 and 30 minutes past...and then at 45 minutes past when I approached, had a shocked look because he forgot I was still there. The food is good. Bobby the manager was so professional and personable and I appreciate someone who takes the initiative to go to guests introduce himself and make sure everything is okay. He deserves more than 5 stars , but wanted you to know what service you will receive when dining in! Also they have happy hour which was reinstated and the margaritas are delicious. The catering manager James was also so helpful when giving me detailed information on a party that I was thinking of hosting at the restaurant. Every restaurant needs a good host and "Taylor" is the face of Mexicue, she is professional, polite, welcoming and you always see a smile on her face when taking reservations or seating you to the table. The restaurant is beautiful and it has a great vibe. The staff was extremely friendly (Jean who was our server and the bartender). However, the food was terrible. The shrimp tacos were way too salty. After much prodding and poking from friend of mine who live and work in the area I decided to accept their accounts of awe and amazement as semitruths having never known them to lie. Greeted at the door by the manager Bobby who's fun energetic and up beat attitude set the tone for my entire dining experience I was whisked away to the upstairs seating area. On the way to my seating as we passed by the bar I was introduced to Paul my mixologist for the evening. As he greeted me and assured that I would be amused, entertained, and smiling the entire evening long. After asking me what my favorite flavors were he concocted a mixture of his own imagination uniting all the flavors I mentioned. He personally brought my first drink and made sure it was to my liking. (It far exceeded my expectations). Next I met Teisha my server with a laugh that lights up the room. She described for me in such great detail every item I was interested in that it became harder to choose with her colorful imagery swirling around my head. Once I finally decided on an order, I went simple with chicken tacos and a loaded burrito. These two simple dishes were anything but. Filled with delicious savory meats and sides that were colorful and flavorful. I made it not even half way through before having to ask for a to go box. As Paul and Teisha chuckled (having warned me about underestimating the size of their dishes) I smiled and was glad that today, today I made the right choice. This place was average at best. The food looks amazing when it comes out but overall it was nothing special. If you do come here I would say definitely get the grilled cornbread and lobster tacos. Tuna ceviche on a tostado was pretty good as well. The rest of me meal was ehhh. The only big plus is that they're doing a great job with social distancing inside the restaurant due to COVID-19. Went on a Saturday night, around 8 pm. The staff was definitely short handed but our waitress and her assistants were very hands-on with the crowd they had. They gave us our food in a timely matter. First experience, after waiting 15 minutes at a table to get a drink, we decided to sit at the bar. My husband went to tell the hostess and I went to the bar. Told bartender we want to sit at bar and she told me we had to cash out with our waiter. I tried to explain to her we did not get anything she just kept yelling at me from the far end of the bar we had to settle up with our waiter. She asked if we ordered anything and I told her we ordered but had not received anything she started yelling at me again about settling up with our waiter so we ended up just walking out. I went here a year ago and loved the food. The tuna ceviche nachos were a meal unto themselves. I went back last Saturday and it was not the same. Other contributors mention that portions seemed smaller. I agree. The tuna nachos plate was half the size, same price. The tuna also didn't taste as fresh. I know we are in this all together but you DO NOT have it together Mexicu!! On Cinco De Mayo I ordered online for which it said a 20 minute prep time. I went to pick up my food after a 1/2 hour and the wait for takeout was 1 hr and 45 minutes. How could you not get your website correct. There were so many people waiting outside and furious to be encountering the same event. It's a special Mexican holiday during a pandemic, you should have been way more prepared and not trick people into thinking they can get their food in a normal timeframe. Seems like they are severely understaffed. Took 20 minutes for a waiter to come over to our table for the first time. then took another 15 minutes for one drink. Took another 15 minutes to get chips and salsa. The tacos were good but the Nashville chicken taco had the tiniest piece of chicken I've ever seen for the taco. Almost looked like a chicken nugget that did not even cover the tortilla. For the price you'd expect a larger piece of chicken. Would have liked to order more chips or drinks but nobody ever checked to see how we were doing. Felt like we had to flag down a server if we wanted a drink refill.
