This is one of the newest Mexican places in town and I was looking forward to trying it. It was Happy Hour and the margaritas were 2 for 1. Ok, sounds good. I needed a drink (or two). Then the special for the night was nachos for $3. Choice of beef & cheese, been & cheese or chicken & cheese. My friend and I got the chicken & cheese and that was exactly what it was, chips, queso and chicken. No lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, etc. For $3 not a bad deal, but our server said the regular price for these are $7.95. What? The salsa that comes to the table was just tomato sauce. I didn't see anything else in it. It was very bland. We decided to each order a taco. I got the Mexican taco (grilled steak, onions, cilantro with a salsa verde). It came and it was pretty bland as well. I mostly just tasted dry tortilla. Steak was tough and not much flavor, nor was there much salsa verde that I could even see, let alone taste. My friend ordered the carne asada taco. It came in a flour tortilla with the same "grilled steak" as the Mexican taco and lettuce and sour cream. Again, not much flavor and the meat was tough. Overall I'd say this is an ok place if you want to just go have some drinks and nachos (on Tuesday $3 Nacho Night) but if you're looking for some authentic good Mexican food, Mexiville misses the mark by a long shot. read more

Wow! This is one of my favorite Mexican places in town. I'm not sure about how "authentic Mexican" they are, but they have some pretty crazy party in our mouth kind of flavors that they serve up. I had a special of the day (Pollo Fiesta I think) consisting of seasoned grilled chicken pieces, bacon, and queso! with rice and beans! Dangggggg... See what I mean about a party in your mouth? I visited Mexiville for the first time this week during Thursday trivia and was pleasantly surprised. Overall the food was average; however, it was a good price for the amount of food you get. It was also surprisingly still happy hour during trivia so margaritas and drafts had a special going on. Our server informed us that the frozen margaritas had more alcohol and I could definitely tell that was true after having two. Of note, I don't believe the margaritas were made fresh since it was sweeter like a mix. There is more space in the restaurant than I thought there would be. For it being a busy night our server was pretty attentive. My biggest disappointment was probably the small amount of guacamole included with my dish, but I guess we can't be too greedy with guacamole. Overall, my friends and I will be back whether it is for trivia or another night out. read more

I went to Mexiville (Saturday 1/7/2023) and walked in not knowing they were apparently closing at 10:40 PM EST. The bouncer (older black man) did not stop me, ask for ID, or anything when I walked in but yelled at me "woa woa woa!" as soon as I walked in. I then stepped out to ask him what it was he needed and pulled out my wallet to show me ID. The bouncer was yelling at me for no reason with my coworker on the phone with me. I explained that I had just moved here from Atlanta and didn't realize they were closed and apologized. He continued to be rude to me for no reason. I felt genuinely unsafe by him - this business can check their cameras- he is terrible!!! I am going to the BBB today because of this bouncer and genuinely feeling unsafe. I have never felt this way before at ANY other establishment in Chattanooga. I will not be going here again as a result, but to TACO 463 I think it's called. I want to feel safe when I dine and respected. read more

Mexiville is one of Chattanooga's iconic Mexican food restaurants. It is in prime location on Market Street, in Miller Plaza and close to both EPB and TVA. The food is not the best Mexican food you will find in the city, and likely not very authentic either. That's not to say that the food is not good though! I could eat Burrito Gigantes all day and night! This restaurant is open fairly later than most in the city, and on Saturday nights they move all the tables and chairs outside and have salsa dancing in the middle of the restaurant. I feel this restaurant could improve mainly on their chips and salsa. The salsa of which is not chunky at all, and both of which may be the least authentic thing in the entire restaurant. The quality of the entree dishes could also be improved, but despite all this the service is excellent and the food is filling. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, maybe not my first choice for authentic Mexican cuisine, but definitely somewhere to go for good drinks and good times. read more

hands down my favorite restaurant to go to in the area! Chuy and his staff always treat me like family whenever I am there. Whether I am going to have lunch or dinner or if I am only going to have a few drinks, I am always very well taken care of! The other location on the Northshore is just as amazing! I would definitely recommend stopping in one of the 2 locations and checking out their amazing happy hour! The food's not bad. But part of my dining out experience includes the service and ambiance, not just the food. We get there and it's busy. No problem, we're a patient bunch and have time... until the server immediately introduces himself and hurries us to order because they're so busy (a la: "I'm Joe, I need your food order because we're really busy"). And this was apparently the drink guy! Two others served us as well. They just seemed annoyed that there were customers at all. The food was fine. It was tasty but two in our group had asked for specific things (no cheese, or a side of rice, etc) and that didn't happen. Disappointing and normally not a big deal except that the server actually tried to argue w my buddy that he got what he ordered. Wow. I think my lactose intolerant friend is familiar with ordering things that don't upset his tummy. We all left w the same feeling: Yea, it was not bad. I wish we had the opportunity to taste the food, but were disgusted by the actions of our waiter. Before he came back to take our order, we saw him rubbing his face, eyes, blow his nose (look at the tissue and turn it over) rub his hair and neck. When he came to the table, he lifted his shirt to rub or touch his stomach. I wish I'd actually tell him what we saw was gross and is the sole reason we decided to not order and leave. I stopped in for lunch while visiting Chattanooga for business. There is outside seating but very small, I sat outside. The waiter visited me very seldom. I ordered water with lemon, a margarita, and guacamole to start. I didn't receive my water with lemon and my gauc was enough for 4 chips. For $4 I was very disappointed, I even had to order another as I wanted a side for my meal. I ordered the special Gee and it was good but not great. It had a single pee and other random items in it that I could tell were being cooked on the same stove and rolled into my dish. I don't like that at all. I still haven't gotten my water with lemon so I request again. He brings it to me with no lemon so I request the lemon and get attitude from the waiter. Overall, my experience was not good read more

The waitress .... about 50-55 years old .....demanded my ID to make sure I was old enough to buy a margarita..... I turned 50 today.....my husband who is Hispanic got a beer and did not have to Show a ID. When she went to leave the table she said the owner of the restaurant makes his employees only check the Americans ID cards and in her words .." you never know who is checking the restaurant to make sure they are checking" As well the waitress made sure my husband got another beer but I sat there with my tea glass empty and not even offered any. Wanted to try this place out as it was around 10 and not many other places were open, there was hardly anyone there but couldnt get ANY service, I ended up having to seat myself and then it took 20 minutes to even receive a menu as the staff was to busy talking to one another. When I was finally able to order after about 35 minutes of being there, I ordered guacamole which I never received and they still tried to charge me for. If 0 stars was an option I would have selected it. Never going back and the food wasnt good enough to make me return anyway. read more

Great food and excellent service. I had the huevous con chorizo and it was very good. I asked for corn tortillas which were thick and tasty. The eggs cooked firm but not overdone and the chorizo blended completely in the dish. My lunch mates ordered tacos and burritos both steel and chicken and all enjoyed their meals. We also had some queso dip which was excellent. I highly recommended this for full flavored Mexican food. read more

Great experience for dinner on a Thursday night. $2.95 house margarita was fabulous. The menu is loaded with various dishes and options to customize a dish to your taste. I am incredibly disappointed! I have ordered food from Mexiville several times and it has been great but today I ordered 2 shredded beef burritos with rice and beans and the shredded beef was absolutely raw! I don't eat any meet undercooked (everything is well done for me); it was so disgusting I didn't get to eat my lunch today. I tried to salvage it by reheating it for several minutes in the microwave but ended up ruining any part that was edible (rice and beans) because the meet would not cook and I had mixed it altogether. Shame on you for serving food like this, it was so bad that I needed to write a review but had it been slightly better I might have just been disappointed and you never would have known why you've lost my business. It will be a long while before I decide to eat there again, if ever. read more

The wife had the sangrita and it packed a punch for $5. They even had 2 for $5 Margaritas. They looked great at the other tables. The service was great, our server joked around with us.
