I really like MOD. I'm going to call it MOD, because Meyer's Olde Dutch Food & Such is too long to type. Damn it, I just typed it. Anyway. I like the people. Julia (I may be wrong about that name) helped us out and she's a sweetheart, as is everyone else we interacted with. I like the drink menu. They have all the fancy grape names if you'd like, but the wines are listed under names like Good Red and Dry White. They offer affordable ciders, interesting cocktails (classics too), and several beer and shot options for you or your whole squad. Most importantly, I like the food. My wife wanted me to be healthy, so I didn't get the Double Dutch (apparently I don't need a double burger), and instead went for the Pork and Bacon BBQ Burger. With fries. And a wedge salad. You're welcome, honey. The pork burger is excellent, and even more so with the pickles my girl Julia recommended. There's nothing wrong with the fries except that I didn't get them dirty (with chili, pimento cheese, and slaw), and the wedge salad is a gigantic steal at $6, covered in bleu cheese, bacon and more. My silly wife rocked the 'Shrooms & Nuts burger (vegan unless you add the goat cheese), and even that was good. MOD is good food and drink at good prices, served by nice people. Just wow. Stopped in on a cold MLK day and immediately got good vibes from the space and the nice guy working the front counter. He explained the ordering system (order at counter and someone brings you your food) and showed us the menu before we grabbed a seat by the window. We got the dirty fries, a burger and the shawarma special. Holy. Shit. I knew the food would be good based on the Yelp reviews, but damn, I will dream about those friggin fries. They also have a bar (peep the cocktail menu!), so you're all set, whether you're grabbing a few drinks or having a casual meal. I came here for lunch this past Sunday afternoon with my Millennial Chum. Not being familiar with Beacon, we made our meal decision by walking up and down Main Street and looking for a storefront that appealed to us - a decision that has burned me more than once in the past, but it wasn't the case here. I was surprised (not unpleasantly so) by how casual Meyer's was. Based on the exterior, I definitely assumed this would be more of a formal sit-down restaurant with waitstaff, but this is more in the realm of a slightly upscale fast-food place like a Smashburger. I was definitely intrigued by the cocktail bar aspect, but since I'd been extremely negligent in my hydration in the morning, I bypassed the opportunity this time around. In a marked departure for me, I went with the New York State Special ($7.50), a burger featuring muenster cheese and garlic aioli. The burger itself was pretty scrumptious - a little on the greasy side, but very solid. In hindsight, I'm not a huge condiment person and I can't explain why I even bothered with toppings as a result (I guess they looked more intriguing than the standard ones?), but I found the muenster cheese to be too messy, especially in conjunction with how juicy the burger was. The aioli was fine, but taste-wise a little too overwhelming for my palate. Again though, that's really on me - 98% of the time I get my burgers plain because I don't want the toppings to distract me from the essence of the bovine. We will not make that mistake again. The Millennial Chum got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($10) and loved it. She commented that the tiny pickle slices were not evenly distributed but I didn't get the impression she took points off for that. The price point is amazing (which we found to be the case throughout our Beacon consumer experience) - my burger would have been at least $5 more in NJ. On the service side, we were both impressed by the proactiveness of one of the employees. We each just got a cup for water, which you filled up in the back via a cooler-like dispensary. However, the water ran out before I got a chance to fill my cup. When we alerted the staff member, he immediately went outside to restock the inventory, and my mission to rehydrate resumed. I wasn't quite as blown away by this place as my chum was, but I'm chalking most of that up to my poor decision to put shizzle on my cattle. read more

I came here on a recommendation from a friend who said these burgers were great. Well, my friends and I must've hit it on an off night. First, the girl at the register (didn't catch her name) was so rude. Like rolling her eyes at the customers when they asked a question about the menu. RUDE. My friend kept chomping on black peppercorn with each bite. The other friend has to return his chicken fingers because it tasted like it fell in a bucket of salt. Truly inedible. The cole slaw was sopping wet. Fries were over salted and soggy. The autumn salad was meh, feta cheese had a bad taste and I am a huge feta fan. All in all, my meal came to $30 and it was a complete waste of money. Maybe the cook needs to be taught how to cook. Food was absolutely the worst I had in a long time. We had dinner here at about 5 pm and ordered a double beef burger and a vegan burger, also add a combo for drink and French fries. Double beef burger is amazingly full of meats and vegetables. Bacon in it is a little salty, but the beef is tender and well cooked. Vegan burger includes beets, mushroom and onions. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was so fresh and crispy! I'm usually not the biggest fan of coleslaw, but on the top on this sandwich it was phenomenal! Downside was because the chicken was in the form of chicken tenders it was tough to eat without being messy. I was told they made all of their own sauces. Of course I had to take some fries and try it all. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend. I believe they also sell alcohol if you feel so inclined, but can't speak to how good that is. I was destined to become a fan. I mean, "Good Wine" by the glass, a house made 'shrooms & nuts vegan burger (only $9... what?), a cozy 70s rec room vibe, in my new favorite town of Beacon. I can't yet speak to the food, though I am toying with the idea of returning ASAP to get one of the vegan burgers, as well as the promised to be outstanding fries. My beau and I had a brief stop here when roaming Main Street on a recent Saturday. We got there early enough, around 6pm, and made a beeline to the bar. I don't always love sitting at bars but it just feels right here. I wanted to observe while I drank. There's something endearingly humble about the place, not sure if it's because of the drinks list on a menu that looks suited to a roller rink, or the carefully curated food offerings, or the oranges, yellows and blues in the color scheme. It's all good. It's where I want to be. The clientele is an awesome mixed bag. There's the under 25 peeps. There's the young parents with well behaved kids (thank you!) and there's youngish adults who bring their parents. There was one other couple on a date night, like us! It's a small place and definitely was almost full by the time we left at 8:30ish. The bartender who served us was sweet, and her colleague seemed a master mixologist, judging by what we saw. Such good food. Their vegan burger is very tasty, it has a patty made of beans that is really flavorful. I've been here multiple times and the fries are always perfect, crispy but not too crispy and perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. Honestly, these are some of the best fries I've ever had. Their side beet salad is AMAZING. It's served with sunflower & pumpkin seeds and it is the tastiest thing ever. I've also had their full salads, which are very good. There is seating in the back (two large tables and multiple smaller tables), inside and in front of the establishment. There is a also a good selection of beer and other beverages. The food is served with silver utensils and on paper containers (so you limit the non-biodegrable waste that you generate, which is great). Prices are average for the area and the type of food you're getting. Service is generally good and the bathroom is clean. Highly recommend!!! read more

Visited Beacon for a short trip over the holidays. We got into our place in the early evening and figured it would be easy to just place an order for delivery while places were still open. Sure enough, the Yelp reviews led us to Meyer's and thank god. Delivery doesn't always capture the full experience, but everything was spectacular. We ordered directly through the restaurant's website. The menu is relatively small, so no hard decisions. We both got the crispy chicken sandwich, one with the regular fries and one with dirty fries. I wasn't able to get a photo because we inhaled the sandwiches so quickly. From the chicken to the sauce, it was 100% the right choice. My regular fries were a bit salty but the dirty fries were heavenly. If you're looking for some comfort food or something without the risk of it being terrible, would highly recommend Meyer's. Heard about this place through Yelp so when my husband and I were in the Beacon area, we found this quaint burger joint. The vibe sent out a nice Latino feel through the music that we heard when we walked in the-door. The decor was rustic with an open duct ceiling and metal chairs at the small bar. I knew I had to try the burger and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the vegan burger which he claimed was the best that he ever tasted ! He also ordered the famous sweet potato fries, which were very tasty but a little bit heavy on the oil side for me. I had the large helping of coleslaw which was delicious as well. I tried the "Peachgria " their version of a peach sangria... light and refreshing! The outside patio was closed on Mondays, the day we visited, but look forward to coming back again to check out ! I try not to hype things too much but this was seriously one of the best burgers that I've had. My friend and I ordered the "New York Steak Special". The burger was really juicy and had great flavor. I usually put ketchup and mustard on my burger but I didn't need to on this one. The muenster cheese was a perfect touch. The fries along the side were great as well. This place is reasonably priced, It was about 10 bucks for both the fries and burger. The atmosphere was laid back and chill and the restaurant was very clean. I wasn't expecting much from Meyer's when I went in for lunch to escape the rain. It is a bit divey, not in a bad way, and looks more like a take out place with a few spots to sit and a bar.
