A solid burger place in Beacon, NY. I go the make your own burger option - lettuce, onion pickles and ketchup with the patty medium well, and an order of fries. In hindsight, I wish I had gotten a double patty, but the single patty was a perfect portion for a light lunch. It's a pretty simple place, no frills, a straight forward menu of burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches and some other sides. It takes about 5-10 minutes for the food to come out, so it's not too bad. I was a bit concerned it would take too long, because I only had about 45 minutes until my train was supposed to arrive, but thankfully, they're quite quick! Meyer's is a cute spot for dinner, that has fast pick up and an interesting menu. Personally, i need to come back to try more items. Although i was pleased with what i ate, i felt there were certain things that were off bout each item i had. First off, their beet salad. This is a huge portion. i would highly suggest sharing. I felt the sunflower seeds were overwelming, there is just way too much in the beets. i wouldnt mind peanuts or pine nuts. if they already have them, i couldnt taste them for the life of me. i feel it needs a spicy or sweeter sauce on top. beets have a tart taste to them and i feel another type of topping/sauce would compliment this well. the infamous chicken sandwhich. alright, so its good, but i wasnt blown away. i loved the texture of the chicken! for me, the outside chrunchy texture was amazing. to me, its not a fried chicken sandwhich, but more of a japanese katsu or tempura shell. talk about creativity! where this goes wrong, is the slaw and the toppings. i feel this just didnt do the sandwhich any justice. also, the pimento cheese reminds me of a southern chicken sandwhich, but the slaw and the texture of the chicken dont. for me, it just wasnt a mix that blew me away. despite my negative comments, i liked the chicken sandwhich, but wouldnt get it again. i think the key selling point is the chicken itself, because its juicy, big, and the outside texture is so unique and good - i think they can do alot with this creative process of making chicken. ps the giant cookie was interesting. i think its vegan, but not too sweet. its very dense too. read more
