We stopped in here in May while in town for a conference and we enjoyed our visit. We had a late lunch that day, so just wanted a small nosh and a drink and this was perfect. The mojitos were flavorful and tasty and we really enjoyed our katmar dessert (a phyllo pastry filled dessert with pistachios, cream, and honey). Lovely spot! Every time I'm in town staying in AdMo we hit up Meze and it never fails. It feels authentic and the taste are always great. I've never had a bad meal here and the dips/Meze are all phenomenal. The beet dip in particular has my heart and is something I genuinely crave constantly. Service is always good and friendly. I came here with coworkers for a dinner reservation. Although the inside is a bit cozy they were able to accommodate us even though we were a large group. They have an outdoor dining area as well for more room. We tried the 15 item group menu which was great for a party of 10 people. Personally both the chicken and lamb Sis Kebabs were favorites. I had the best time with my friend at Mezé. We were walking along 18th street and loved the outdoor seating Mezé had with green vines all around and plenty of overhead fans. We decided to sit down for brunch there because we just wanted to go inside of the cute patio they set up. Our server was extremely attentive. We ordered the baba ganoush and dolmas. Both items were clearly labeled vegan which made ordering so simple. Additionally, our server asked if there were any allergens or dietary restrictions and I let him know I was vegan. I really appreciate when servers take extra care in ensuring they are aware of any special diets at the table. We also ordered mojitos. My friend had a mango mojito and I had a virgin mojito. I love how my mojito looked identical to my friend's. It always makes me feel special when the alcohol-free option is as festive as the alcohol one. My drink was so refreshing! There was the perfect balance of mint and sweetness. It was just the right drink for the 80 degree weather. Pita comes complimentary to each table and it was delicious! Very fluffy and I love that the pita was already cut up. It made sharing the bread so easy. The bab ganoush was good. It was not too heavy on the eggplant and not too smoky. It was light and seasoned just enough. The Dolmas I wish I ordered two of. I love dolmas! Theirs was filled with plenty of rice and flavors and not dripping with oil which I appreciated. My wife and I went here on a whim and were so happy with our decision. We sat outside in the streetery which was unassuming, but the food was amazing and the service was great--we got the Karisik Kebap platter and by the end the only thing left was some rice. Not to mention that the prices were pretty reasonable (we got food and drinks and spent $80-$90 before tip). The cocktails were a little pricey ($14-$17), but they had a nice selection of beers (imported, domestic, and local) $6-$8. Overall, I'll definitely be going back and would recommend for anyone looking for some tasty Mediterranean food at a good price. read more

The servers were friendly and attentive, bringing us extra bread when we needed and constantly refilling the water. The drinks were well made, especially the Turkish coffee martini. However, the food was not as good as we've had at other Mediterranean restaurants. For example, the lentil soup had a grainy texture which wasn't my favorite. I had a hankering for Mediterranean food, so we decided to try out Mezze because we have only heard good things. The restaurant is very small, yet sleek, with a beautiful bar, dimmed lighting, and a very modern interior. This set up is perfect for a date night or an intimate one-on-one dinner meeting. Onto the food! We honestly didn't order too much because we were not too hungry, and this was our began regret. We began with the Baba Ghanoush and then ordered the Steak Frites for our entrees. The pita was so warm and soft, and when dipped into the Baba Ghanoush, which was whipped to a perfect light and fluffy texture, the combination was delicious. The Steak was small but was mashed down to be thinner, so there was an illusion of feeling like I was eating a portion bigger than it truly was! The meat was incredibly tender and even with being so thin, they mastered the  warm and melt in your mouth center with the pan seared crunchy exterior. I honestly was amazed by this concept. And I could not stop eating the fries. They were so crispy and skinny, yet not too fried at all, which I love. They were delicate and flavorful. I do regret not trying more things, as literally everything on the menu looked phenomenal, and I went with such a basic entree for the variety they had (especially when the reason we chose here was because of my specific craving). However, even going with such a classic option, my taste buds were elevated to a new dimension. I am incredibly excited to come back and try more food here. read more

3.5 stars! Came to Meze for brunch on a Saturday and had an overall okay experience. They have a $45 bottomless brunch including food and drinks which is a great deal but they don't do a great job of explaining how their bottomless works which made the experience confusing. At some bottomless places they walk you through the offerings and bring you plates of basically everything. At others you have to order which plates you want. Meze does the latter but they didn't explain this up front so we were just kind of waiting for plates to come out when what we actually needed to do was order plates. None the less all the food was great. We especially loved the grape leaves and French toast. They offer mimosas and bloodys and also rail drinks for bottomless. Again the rules weren't explained to us ahead of time but you can't have more than one drink at a time. Totally fine but jarring when you're not aware of the rule and they take full drinks away from you to bring you new drinks. The different rules in and of themselves were fine but no one explained them to us until we were almost done which made for a very confusing and awkward brunch experience. We were always rushing to finish our drinks as runners brought new ones and it overall left a negative taste. Overall our server was attentive and lovely, the ambience was very nice especially with the outdoor space, and the food was very good. We appreciated the manager coming over and explaining everything to us and totally understood the rules but would probably just go somewhere less confusing for brunch. read more

One of my best friends and I went to Meze for a much needed catch up session. What's better than doing that over all you can eat and drink brunch? We loved the inside of Meze; it's super cute! We sat at this great little nook upstairs. Our waitress was AMAZING. At the end of our meal, we learned she was new and in training. I was shocked because I can only say the most positive things about her. She was attentive, made great recommendations, super friendly, and always made sure our beverages were full! The drinks were made extremely well (you could taste the alcohol which isn't always the case at all you can drink brunch) and the food was delicious. We tried the eggs Benedict, hummus, Istanbul burger, Brussels sprouts, quinoa kofte, dolma, sigara boregi, all the cheese, and the French toast. I must admit that I was suspicious before giving this Turkish restaurant in DC a try as a Turkish citizen, (you never know these days) but Mezé Restaurant met my expectations %100. Also, I had no idea that they are the oldest Turkish restaurant in DC-- Wow, that is so cool. I ordered Iskender Kebap which was originally $26.50+ but somehow I have gotten a %40 off by Uber Eats-- I was like "hey I take it." Haha. It took little over an hour for meal to be cooked and driver to bring it to my unit in NoMa which is about 2.2 miles from their location in 18th Street. The ingredients were clearly high quality and fresh. Fried tomato and brad underneath the lamb meet for instance were delicious as heck. Especially the meet was so good. It was not super soft but yet the taste was lasting a few seconds in my mouth. The yogurt to pour over the meet could have been homemade to be honest but it was still delicious. Btw, Yogurt belongs to the Turks not Greeks damn it! Just kidding. Or do I?:) Overall, my experience has been great. Got the chance to check this restaurant out after it was recommended by a friend. The outdoor dining was lovely and the food is magical! We ordered and shared all dishes because we wanted to try as many goodies as possible. Our waiter Día was super helpful in making great recommendations. We had the dip trio (hummus, one with roasted red peppers, and one with beets) - all were amazing and the bread they give is fresh making it hard to stop. For dinner we shared the scallion patty/pancakes, chicken kabob platter and the lamb shank. Both came with rice and some veggies. if there is one thing dc does right it's brunch, so why am I sad after this one (I'm not, my friends made the experience, but you get the point I'm trying to make) - I hate complaining about service but this waiter never even introduced himself, took forever to come take our orders or bring the check, and actively showed annoyance when our friend was in the bathroom before his cake for his birthday was brought out.... - speaking of cake, $42 added to the bill for the cake, 3.50 per person in theory isn't bad but that is ridiculous especially when you're not a dessert place - the bread they bring to the table is super fluffy and fresh BUT they bring cold packets of butter and sugar free smuckers....so you think we are FAT. OKAY. doesn't match the mediterranean theme either. My boyfriend wanted to get out on Thanksgiving, but finding a place with vegan options was tough. Our usual standby places were closed, and most restaurants tend to have meat-centric meals. Luckily, we found Meze, in Adams Morgan. (It was truly weird walking up and down a nearly deserted 18th Street.) Meze is a narrow but cozy Middle Eastern restaurant with pretty good vegan options. One side of the menu is vegetarian and vegan options and the other is meat. I'd guess that maybe a third of the total menu is vegan. Noting a special if you order three dips, we decided to do just that; we got the hummus, the muhammara ( roasted red pepper dip), and the gavur dagi, a mixed vegetable relish. We also got an order of veggie kabobs that also came with hummus and the mercimek kofte, a bulgur and lentil-based "cake" that was more cigar shaped. My boyfriend, who adores olives, got a platter of those and appreciated that they still had the pits. I loved the dips and would definitely come back for those. I also liked the kabobs. The kofte was very cold, as if it had just come out the fridge. I think I would have liked it more if it were closer to room temperature. Still, it's a great place for meat eaters and veg*ans to enjoy dinner together. read more

It's no small feat for a restaurant to survive more than 17 years, so you know Meze is doing a few things right. I'll start this review by highlighting the biggest standout of the meal, and that was the service. Super kind, super attentive, and always smiling. It made a huge difference in creating a positive vibe. The second reason to come: that sweet patio. They have tons of outdoor space, which is comfortable in just about any weather. There is both a patio right outside the entrance and a large covered streetery area. We sat in the latter, giving us a great perch for people watching on a busy Friday night. For food, we sampled a few items but our consensus fave was the boneless chicken entree called izgara tavuk. The chicken was so tender and well seasoned, it was very satisfying. If you're feeling adventurous, I really liked the sigara appetizer as well. It's a crispy, cigar shaped pastry filled with feta, dill, and parsley. It was creamy and very dill-forward. Unique and tasty way to start the meal. Bonus points for a solid mojito and a trappist rochefort on the beer menu. We shared the two with our meal and couldn't decide which was more refreshing. I really liked the energy and intimate space. It seems like a small business which makes me want to like it more. The service was fine. No biggee. But the food is very bland. Ground kebabs are supposed to be the most flavorful item on menus and these were just plain bland and uninspiring. Portions are medium small, so not small enough that you would get multiple items, but not enough to get full. Go hear for sustenance, but I can't recommend the food. read more

We were seated right away (we had a reservation and we're a party of 4) and served pretty quickly. The servers also came by multiple times to check on us and see how the food is! Mucver burger: SO GOOD! I think it was the best one out of all our orders and we all weren't even vegetarian! (This is a vegetarian burger and there were tons of vegetarian options on the menu!) Doner eggs: good but not great. It wasn't seasoned super well and the egg was a little too raw. I liked that it was made with lamb/veal though - that added a nice twist to brunch. Meze eggs: pretty standard egg's Benedict with lox. It was good but I feel like you could've gotten this anywhere for brunch. Turkish tea (iced) and Turkish coffee were good (pretty on par compared to other Turkish restaurants I've been to) Another caveat is they only serve brunch options (bottomless and a la carte) during brunch time and not the regular dinner menu, which looked like it had a lot of other options! For example, the a la carte menu didn't have any dips, soups, etc. but the bottomless menu did look like it had a lot of variety! read more

Being a Washingtonian never thought to stop here but not to mad that I did. The service was great, couldn't have asked for so much great hospitality from the folks here. The food was good but the portions were small, we got filled up more on the house bread which was also actually good and fresh. The non alcoholic drink that they had with strawberry and mint was also good but you can tell it was probably only a few fingers worth of actual liquid in it if it weren't for all the ice and lemon wedges in the drink. The salmon kebap although flaky and moist it lacked seasoning amongst the side of spinach dip it came with as well but still good with a little added salt. Mezé is a delightful restaurant that probably was the best food I had during my trip to D.C. There was hospitality, respect - the servers weren't overbearing but also not inattentive. The restaurant was packed but the upstairs area we were sat at was a bit secluded so not too loud. The bread they give you is quite literally the best bread ever. Amazing taste, amazing texture, soft inside and the perfect amount of crunch on the outside. I ordered the Mercimek Corbasi (Red Lentil Soup) which was delicious but quite filling. This wasn't my entree but it could certainly work as one or as a side dish with a smaller entree. Dipping the bread into the soup was a delicious pairing as well. My meal was the manti - a dumpling, textured but small dough filled with meat, that you can douse in a tomato and/or yogurt sauce. The yogurt is tangy/sour if you're going for a more savory taste, the tomato is on the sweetest side if you're going for a sweeter palate, but it's completely up to your own tastes as the two sauces are plated in separate bowls from the manti. Furthermore, I had the Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon and it was a great combination with the dish. Everything here was filling and I left feeling stuffed but in a wonderful way. Amazing little place in Adam's Morgan, first time here. Saw a post online about their brunch and I was sold, had to stop by. Came in for brunch and it was awesome. Service, food and drinks were all spot on. Our server was very attentive and nice. The food was made very well, seasoned perfectly with great presentations. Management stopped by a couple times to check on us and what topped off was at the end the manager treated us to Turkish coffee. Perfect lil Turkish spot with nice indoor and outdoor dining. Haven't had manti since I was in Istanbul in 2013. I had been missing it for a good bit, but then I stopped eating red meat. To my delight, Mezè had a vegetarian spinach manti! I also don't usually like the yogurt sauces as they overpower the manti, but the one at Mezé was perfectly tart yet mild. My boyfriend got the pastrami and hummus dish, which of the hummus I tasted was really good. The bread is handmade, fluffy on the inside. Unlike a lot of middle eastern places that give you cheap or low quality (usually store bought) naan, Mezé's bread is a standout. Will definitely be coming back to try more meze at Mezé's. read more
