Just skip this place they got ridiculous rules and a bunch of passive aggressive signs all over the place! They also got a different price for cash and card but the different prices aren't listed on the menu or anywhere actually they just put the extra charges on the receipt in small letters! Food is not good but the real reason I will NEVER return is because of the ridiculous charges they add for paying with a debit card. I was told my total when I was done ordering at the speaker, but once I pulled up to the window & handed over my debit card, I was handed back my card with a receipt that had an additional $5 fee on top of the total I was told at the speaker without any notice that they would charge more for using card. "$1.99 for payment method + $2.99 for using card" is what was stated on the receipt. LIKE WHAT? Absolutely insane. This place is a total scam. (This review is for the Sandy location, dunno why Yelp put it here.) The carnitas taco and bacon breakfast burrito were both large and delicious. They're friendly, drive-thru only took about 5 minutes, and I'm happy for this addition to the neighborhood. I do think they should get rid of the credit card fee and just generally all the signs about fees (can't be worth how much it bothers people). Some of their prices seem high but I felt like the things I ordered were a good value. Need to work on their green sauce. It wasn't perfect but they're new and I hope they make it! Don't get the chips and cheese. It's just stale tortilla chips with shredded cheese on top, not even melted. Even when I was broke and struggling I wouldn't make chips and cheese like that, yet they charge $6 for it. They also forgot to put chicken in my chicken enchiladas. So they advertise they are open 24 hours a day yet when my husband were on our way home last night and ok it actually was 3 AM - going on the thing of them being open um, let's see 24 hours a day.... we walk up to the door to go inside and the DOOR IS LOCKED I knock on the door a couple of times and the 1st time I get ignored and then I do so again and some employee motions for us to go to the drive thru. We do.... we place our order and have to ask the lady 3 times at least what our total is. It took at least 5 min to go thru processing a payment she finally found time to finish that., and then she gives us our food and I am pretty sure with the combination plates we ordered - that drinks are included. This place always has a line a few cars long when I go by so we had to stop and try it. I had the California burrito and my boyfriend had two of the breakfast burritos. Their burritos are huge! This place reminds us a lot of Betos but 1,000 times better! The ingredients taste a lot more fresh. We have now found our new place for burritos especially breakfast burritos. read more

This is really my kind of "hole in the wall" place, and I say that with all due respect and love. From the same family tree as Betos (which this location was formally named) and Alberto's, if you are familiar with these establishments then you're familiar enough with Mezquite. I stated frequenting Betos/Mezquite when if first opened, so I wish that after all these years (and pounds) I had a better suggestion for you than the menus items most people are probably already familiar with. I've never been disappointed by straying from the norms, but I still return to the California or Texano Burrito 90% of the time. "Two greens and a red sauce please" Despite my love for this 24hour goodness, I can't give it full stars. It doesn't fit my strict (ha!) criteria. But this is a place that is perfect precisely because it's 3 and not 5 stars. Dirty, greasy, & the cashier handles food bare-handed, takes orders bare-handed, uses register bare-handed, with no hand washing in between, before/after, or at all (discernible/detectable). Bathroom (only 1, unisex) is filthy. I felt dirtier using it, very creepy. Whole place feels creepy & filthy, not very English-spoken, which is quite off-putting if you do not speak Spanish. He constantly charged more for things then the menu listed.
