They also offered me a complimentary gift certificate, saying they hoped I would give the restaurant another try. It was such pleasant surprise that this owner read my review and cared enough to contact me about my experience, plus kindly offer me some compensation! I'm upgrading this place to five stars -- I've been there at least a dozen times now, and it's been consistently wonderful. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best pizza in Eugene, and those garlic cheese knots are unbelievable. This place is STELLAR. We are gluten-free and they have the BEST gluten-free pizza! We love the Pollo Party best of all but I am so pleased to say that their pepperoni is really good, too. It's nice to find a place that makes pepperoni pizza without using the crappiest quality pepperonis they could find. They don't serve ranch dressing which put me off at first until the gal recommended using their caesar as a dip instead and OH MY GOD! It was AMAZING! I would never go back to ranch! Even the pepperoni, weird as it may sound, was SO good in the caesar dressing! Yummy yum yum! No, their pizza isn't the cheapest but you DEFINITELY get what you pay for here. So, so, so good. Wish I could give this NO STARS! Please read my review of 6/19/11 where I was treated so shabbily I promised myself never to order from them again. As I am disabled it is sometimes hard for me to get out and procure all the fixings for a Greek Salad, so I have on many, many, many times had a Greek Salad delivered from Mezza Luna from Pony Express. As you will see in my previous review the employees and owners are pretty substandard in regard to customer service and satisfaction, no to mention that more than half the time the orders arrive lacking ingredients. Sooooooooo, I several days ago I order a salad calling them ahead of Pony Expresses Arrival to ask that they insure quality control and that all my ingredients are in the salad. I was assured of such. Salad arrives with missing ingredients. ((sigh)) I call Mezza Luna and get a gnarly person who doesn't feel this is a problem and what is she supposed to do about it. I explain the MULTITUDE of ERRORS and she says she will comp me a salad. Reasonable. I call Mezza Luna today to make sure I am on the comp list. I am. I call Pony Express to have them pick up my comped salad and they inform me that they can't do that. I mention that they have done it for me before and of course I am paying for the service as well as a large gratuity. The woman says "No, Mezza Luna called us and told us not to deliver you any more comped salads" to which I reply "Well, I am homebound so can I just order and pay for one?" I was informed that Mezza Luna has told Pony Express I may never order from their restaurant again. Hmmmm, did my previous review strike a cord. I wonder if an attorney would decide that this is Discrimination against the Disabled under the ADA (Adults with Disabilities Act). Yes, maybe the Pizza is good sometimes (I didn't think so - it was soggy and greasy) but I hope that anyone reading this will make some decisions as to if they wish to give Mezza Luna their business based on their actions and the fact that there are many far superior Pizzerias in Eugene..... read more

Visited Mezza Luna! great sauce and quality toppings. They have vegetarian and vegan options, and if you want to go Gluten Free you can order a pizza with the Gluten Free crust (which is also very good). My only complaint is that the crust is rather flimsy and sometimes a tad soggy. Reasonable prices for the quality, you can get a slice of pepperoni (big slice!!) for a $3.50. They also have big, delicious salads (a regular salad is enough for two people)! I would recommend doing a pick up order for larger parties, but if you are taking someone out on a date this is a good place for a casual dinner. Not open super late, only 9PM, but that's how the employees stay so amiable. Definitely would recommend to anybody in the mood for a slice of pizza in the Eugene area! 8/10 quality! read more

I think Mezza Luna is the best pizza you can get in Eugene. It's a new-school pizza place though, not in the traditional style or anything, but nowhere near an overly doughy cheese fest that many large chains do. I think the quality of their ingredients is above, say Track Town, and even Pegasus (which I also like). I say when it comes to pizza, it's really hard to screw up to the point where you can't eat it. There's times when I feel the cheap stuff will do, and other times I am craving something more. For Eugene, this is your best bet if you're in the mood for a gourmet-ish pizza. read more

Enjoyed a great pizza dinner here with the family and enjoyed the great crust and choice of toppings. They've got some creatively named pizza by the slice and you can even customize your own pizza to whatever strikes you. They keep a list of the toppings that make up the several hundred named combinations to make it easier. One side was vegetarian and the other was not. We even brought our own bottle of wine and they were cool with that. The counter service and waitstaff were great. read more

My office has ordered in from here a couple of times. It's easily the best place we've done this for pizza. The crust is thin , but not as thin as a Neapolitan style, and the slices are huge, so it may qualify as New York Style. If you think pizza must be folded, this should be the place to satisfy you. We had four different topping combinations, all good quality. A couple of things to note is that they go pretty heavy on the sauce, and all of the pizzas I sampled were very garlicky, with whole roasted cloves included. That may not appeal to some, but I'm a garlic fan. I still prefer La Perla for dine-in, but for delivery Mezza Luna is as good as it gets in Eugene. read more

Favorite pizza place in Eugene....period. I even go to the Springfield one too. Pizza is always solid, no matter the kind, and there are tons of kinds. Never had a bad one yet. I had lunch here while visiting. The Pepperoni pizza was solid. It was thin but with a crispy crust. The lunch special for $7 included a slice and salad. The Cesar salad was better than the pizza. The creamy garlicy (not sure that is a word), dressing was really good. It was decent sized and for another $1.25 you can have a soda. It didn't take long to get your food. The selection of pizzas to get a slice from was limited and that was the one downfall. The staff was really friendly. Found Mezzanine Luna driving home from Albany and it didn't disappoint. Got half meat meeting and half the boot, and my God is this pizza delicious!!! It has gotten more expensive, but they are the best and you can do WAYYYYY worse in this town. If the service had'nt gone downhill they would get a 5 from me. The place was jumpin'. Not an open seat all around. The staff was shufflen' up and down, to and fro, scampering running working that dough, flipping, juggling, and going with the flow. All the body heat along with the element of fire making it quite boiling hot. Lots of people chowin' down from all over Eugene town, families and college age too, everyone together all makin quite a hullabaloo. The Pizza was delicious. The sauce was quite saucey and fresh tomatoes were used, that could be discerned by the fruity taste on the tongue. Cheese was just right and crust was like I wanted and more then I could have imagined. Only prob was once I got outside with my whole medium pizza, which is albeit on the smaller side, a person ran up to me from across the street, and then proceeded to request a slice of my Pizza. Who was then pissed when I told him 'no' because this was a special treat for me not cheap, I was splurging and it was a very minuscule pizza. I wasn't expecting to be accosted by a complete stranger who wanted a slice of Pizza! Of course in foresight perhaps I could have predicted something of the sort would happen after all it is Eugene! So I told him off. I have never been in the habit of giving away free pizza unless I worked at a restaurant, at the end of the day then if the slices would be thrown away anyways. Sure, then I'd give some to the homeless youth or the hungry person. Why didn't he ask someone who's in the Pizza business and has surplus pizza because it sure as hell wasn't me. After reading the mostly positive reviews on Yelp my wife and I decided to give Mezza a try. Well all I can say is its pizza alright. Nothing special. Just pizza. One gushing review stated almost as good as NY. If that's true I don't know what New Yorkers have been crowing about all these years. As for the people of Eugene, I think you all have very low standards when it comes to pizza. To you its a tool to hold your beer down. If the previous statements piss you off then prove me wrong. I simply don't get it. And to back up my moxie I know what good pizza is. When pizza is really good you eat all the way to the crust. Writing this review makes me realize how long it's been since I've had mezza luna! I love their food. I come in and get a slice of pizza and a caesar salad, and just hang out, maybe grab a beer. Love thier half sandwich salad lunch special. I eat thier frquently for lunch because its such a great deal. Food is fresh and tastes great if they get the order right and u get the good cooks. Last time i went the cooks were talking about getting arrested by the police in spanish thinking nobody knew what they were talking about. Always ask for dressing on the side or your food swim in it.
