I am absolutely flabbergasted that I haven't written a review for Mezza Luna yet! This has been a birthday tradition for a few years now! My birthday~ I love a great Italian restaurant! Location is wonderful, just a block off the ocean, I always get in a beach stroll when I dine here! I love the live music they have. The bar is wonderful, intimate feeling. The woodfire pizza oven smells delicious, even though I probably will never order a pizza here. I have indulged in their sea scallops, filet and fresh catch, daily special of snapper! I have had numerous cocktails over the years- cherry smash continues to be a favorite. The calamari is always cooked perfectly. The plates are always top notch ingredients and balanced, delightful flavors- beautifully presented. We made it all the way to dessert this time and the seasonal creme brulee was perfectly scrumptious! I have been going to Mezza Luna @ Neptune beach, Fl.,for over 15 years . I normally dine there during the week since they have live music, Sun- Thurs.,but I chose to go last night on a Saturday. The service was prompt and welcoming. I typically have their Lasagna a must have although I chose to go with the Lollipop Lamb chops. They were okay. The dinner rolls which are complimentary and Crispy Brussel sprouts of which I highly recommend made my meal complete. This restaurant is lovely with incredible service! The pasta is perfectly al dente. They decorate the table for your celebration/event and make sure to congratulate you, which is so sweet of them! The food was absolutely delicious -- I ordered the steak, which was slightly overcooked, but I didn't send it back because it was still full of flavor and paired beautifully with the sides. My husband had the duck and really enjoyed it; cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. We started with the burrata appetizer, and it was so good we completely forgot to take pictures -- we devoured every bite! We also shared a bottle of wine and ended the night with the cheesecake crème brûlée, which was the perfect sweet finish. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We were seated within 5 minutes even without a reservation, and chose to sit outside. The breeze kept us cool, and the music from inside added a nice ambiance to the whole evening. What an awesome place! Free valet once you get your ticket validated, which was rather convenient for this AB location. The vibe was great, with live music. We sat in the back of the restaurant and tried the burrata, and then I had the swordfish special which was delicious. Our food was exceptional and the portions were fair for the price. The short rib pasta dish (Fresh Pappardelle) was outstanding. The lasagna was a big hit too, and we loved the risotto that was served with the scallops. Definitely recommend the Brussels sprout appetizer. The server we had in the bar for our after dinner drinks was excellent. Our dinner server was efficient and everything was accurate but after learning the pasta special was out when we were ordering, I had asked if another entree could be made without spinach. She said she didn't think so but didn't offer up other suggestions. So I ended up quickly going with my third choice meal so everyone else didn't have to wait. It ended up being delicious so I wasn't disappointed. It would have been helpful to know what they were out of sooner or what could be modified for allergies. I was never able to try Mezza Luna when living in Jax but gave it a shot when I returned to visit and I'm so glad I did! We were a large party without a reservation but the host managed to get us seated after just a couple minutes. The place was very cute with dimmed lights. Our server got to us right away and came back with drinks not long after as well. For appetizers, we went for the Mussels, polpette and some truffle fries. Mussels could have used some salt but aside from that, everything tasted great with lots of seasoning. For the entree, I did the fetuccini Alfredo with Shrimp. What I loved about this dish was the unique flavor the peppers gave it. Shrimp was cooked to perfection and went really well with the red pepper Alfredo sauce. We were too full to even order dessert even though I wish I did. I must point out, this place is really into detail and has little sections on the menu that point out to vegan/vegetarian and even no garlic options so there is something for everyone. You could actually see and taste the banana folded into the cheesecake. It was rich, flavorful, and the perfect sweet ending. The service was excellent. They were out of a ghost pepper tequila and so I reordered. Drinks came, salad came appetizer came and while eating the appetizer our entree came. What the hell? $180.00 tab and we were out by 6:27! Delicious dinner at Mezza Luna to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We started with the beef tartare, mussels, and truffle fries. All of which were delicious, but choose the mussels if you can only have one. For my entree, I had the Pan Seared Diver Scallops which were served over a corn and Parmesan risotto, which I loved. I made a reservation for a Saturday night at 7:00, I am not sure if they do walk-ins, but the option to make a reservation was there so I wanted to be on the safe side. We arrived 15 minutes early and were immediately sat. We were brought some yummy bread to eat with our bottle of wine. (Huge list of wines to choose from BTW) For our starter we got mussels in a white wine sauce - yum! For main dishes, we got clam linguini (it was ok - I'd personally probably go for something else. 7.9/10) and the short rib pappardelle which was SO good. 10/10! We are New York pizza snobs. While this is not New York style, it is really delicious. Very thin and flavorful. It was the first time I got a Mezza salad. AMBIANCE / SERVICE: Mezza Luna was decorated very nicely and gave a romantic vibe as my husband and I sat by the window. There's lots of tables inside and outside, but given the delicious food, I'd recommend making a reservation on a busy night. Martha, our server, was very attentive and gave great recommendations. FOOD: I ordered the French Pear while my husband ordered the Ghost Berry Margarita. I thought my French Pear was very tasty. However, my husband's Ghost Berry Margarita was the drink on top for the night. Martha even gave my husband a recommendation of putting Tajin on the rim instead of sugar, which was a great recommendation. For appetizers, we ordered the Buratta and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. Both dishes were amazing. I couldn't get enough of the Crispy Brussels Sprouts and honestly could have requested more of those. For our main dishes, we ordered the Crispy Duck Leg, which came with bread pudding, and a balsamic reduction. Then, we got the Fresh Fettuccine with Chicken. All of their pastas are made fresh and you could definitely tell with my pasta dish. I'd have to say this is one of the best fettuccine dishes I've tasted in a while. For dessert, we ordered Tiramisu. I think this dish was a little too salty and definitely needed the strawberries to sweeten it up. Martha had recommended we go with the bread pudding as it was her favorite, but I couldn't resist trying the tiramisu as that's one of my favorite desserts in general. We were thrilled to be seated here as we were family in town for a wedding, and wanted a quiet area so we could catch up. The food and the service were outstanding! Excellent Italian cuisine.
