Had lunch here the other day with the bf and a friend. I got a Greek salad with chicken gyro, which was pretty good. It's definitely one of the better salads I've had; the ingredients were very fresh and I felt cleansed afterwards from all the veggies. The service was great - they walk you through the entire menu and even offer samples of the rice and dips, and they even gave us complimentary chocolate truffles for dessert. I might've given them five stars, except that I had a weird stomach ache that afternoon. I didn't really eat anything else differently that day so I was a little suspicious. I really love this place! We no longer live close to Mezze but we have literally driven several hours just to go and eat here! You really can't beat the ultra flavorful food and really great prices. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, and they are always very quick even when very busy. The owner himself is such a great guy, and is always striving to have the best food and service. As far as meal preferences, I love everything I have tried, from the gyros, to mujaddara, to fresh cut fries! If you have never eaten this type of cuisine before, they will describe some of their specialty dips(hummus, spicy feta, babbaganus, etc) to you, and even give you nice sized FREE samples so you can decide what you might like! Super glad I gave this place a second try!! First off, Steve, the owner reached out to me on yelp regarding my 3 star review!! I'm a huge sucker for owners going the extra mile so big compliments to Steve offering me a free meal! Declined respectfully to give an unbiased review. Delicious!!!!!!! My $13 Groupon allowed me to splurge. Ordered the chicken shawarma (hot spice) salad with everything & house sauce. 4.5/5! Fantastic!!! The chicken was just slightly salty for me as it was topped with dressing. Everything was fresh! And its a huge portion. The absolute star for me was the dip sampler! Omg! Fantastic dips!!! I'm used to humus & baba ghanoush but wow wow wow I'm definitely getting the large next time! 5/5! The chocolate balls were a little let down for me. I give them 3/5. I really dislike shaved coconut so this isn't a really fair review. Its a cross between chocolate fudge & very moist cake. I can see people going back for it but the shaved coconut is a deal breaker for me. Kudos to the very friendly staff as well! Lovely dimly lit location. I have visited Greece before, and when I entered this restaurant, I wanted to order EVERYTHING. The fries smelled great, and of course, once you get fries, you have to get a gyro! I had also bought some pita chips at the Kroger not too far away, so I also decided to get several dips - hummus, babaganoush, and tzatziki (LOTS of garlic, yum!). All of these dips were very good, and I would recommend getting them again. I should note the restaurant does not have hard pita chips, only pita bread, but you can always get pita chips at Kroger. There were a couple of aspects of the meal that were not great. The grape leaves were terrible. I could only eat half of a grape leaf because it was so bland; I would recommend skipping. The gyro was okay. The meat was a bit dry, but otherwise, everything else within the gyro was good. I do recommend eating the fries at the restaurant. I ordered to-go, and even though my hotel's less than 10 minutes away, the fries were soggy by the time I reached the hotel. I probably spent about $30 on the aforementioned food (sans pita chips at Kroger). I purposely got extra for lunch the next day. Would I come here again? Probably! read more

This is an awesome little Mediterranean place. I grew up in Michigan surrounded by amazing Greek and Mediterranean restaurants and this one absolutely holds its own. The hummus is amazing, some of the best I've had. Their house Mezze sauce is really good. I like the style of menu they have where you pick your base, then meat, then veggies, and then sauce. Good quality food and friendly staff. They went out of their way during my first visit to explain to me all the different food items, and I have been back several times with equally good service. I pretty much have always gotten the gyro and I add feta cheese, which in my opinion is a must. I added the spicy sauce once but found I like it better dry, though I am not much of a sauce person to begin with. One downside is that they are closed on Mondays, which always seems to be the day I have a craving to eat there. read more

If my husband were writing this review he would give four stars but he's not. I am and this is about my meal and I'm giving three stars for a few reasons; 1. The cashier was not very clear when she was attempting to answer our questions. She was very confusing and seemed clueless. 2. The set up is confusing. The food is all laid out in the cold case but you are told to tell the cashier what you want on your meal and then you're seated until it is ready. This is not like chipotle or piada. 3. My fries were so soggy!!!! 4. My chicken schwarma and my sons chicken wrap were so over cooked and tough that neither of us could finish them. My jaw was sore! 5. I didn't get any feta on my gyro but was charged for it. All in all I would not return. I did like my husband's falafel and the black bean hummus as well as the chocolate balls. There are way better and more fairly priced Mediterranean cuisine options in the city. read more

I have things at Mezze that I love and things I shy away from. The shawarma is delicious and I will eat it with anything. I like the salads, mujadara rice bowls and Mezze fries. That said, they are heavy handed on the garlic; the spicy feta may as well be called garlic feta and the hummus is also very garlicky. If you love garlic, go for it; if you prefer less then go for salads or rice with meat and veggies - you'll be glad you did. read more

This is the best falafel wrap I have had, after the ones I had at NYC food trucks! Anyone who has tried those food trucks would understand what it takes for anything to come close to that..and Mezze has done it!It's even better than some of the highly rated Mediterranean places I have tried in NYC. Johnny and his restaurant are a must for anyone who (and who doesn't?) loves eating! I started with a base of the rice with cinnamon in it, added falafel and then got all the veggies. The house dressing is to die for. Everything in my dish came together so well. Each bite was a treat and I felt so satisfied. It's amazing to feel full AND satisfied and truly know the difference. Still, I never wanted to stop shoving fork-fulls in my mouth. We were treated to samples of whatever we inquired about. Upon sitting down we received a small plate with every dip and pita bread to go with it. I lived in the Columbus area for a year; my family and I ate here usually once a week for most of that time. This is one of the best places to eat (at any price) in the area. I have spent quite some time traveling in Israel and Palestine: this food maintains those flavors; it tastes of the market. It is hearty, delicious, and healthy. Everything on the menu (I have eaten everything. I think) is incredible. Still: I long for falafel. I love the house dressing, but their tahina is amazing. Their fries are perfection. The owner and staff offer middle eastern hospitality. When I moved away, they sent me with turkish coffee (and a pot!). I miss this place, truly. This is the best near eastern food I've had outside of the near east (and I've lived in places with a high reputation: NY/LA) and it goes toe to toe with anything you'll find in Haifa. I ordered a bowl, and then was asked about spiciness (picked "medium" & it turns out that costs $1 more); they ask about olives & feta (each $1 more) & my bowl ended up costing $11.75. I've never had a bad experience here except this time cashier was mean to us, not sure why. She acted like we were getting on her nerves for being there. When we paid, the credit card machine wouldn't let us move forward with paying unless we left a tip??? It literally would not accept no tip as an option. Which I was unsure as to why we needed to leave a tip to begin with, no one brings the food to your table or gets your drinks etc. Typically when the owner is there he asks how everything is, the answer is always delicious, tells you to have a good day and is friendly. After so many great reviews and after Yanni's disappointed us last time, my wife and I decided to try Mezze. And it was just... okay. Interior was nicely designed. The overall "look" was probably my favorite part. Looking at the menu, lots of up-charges for everything, Fairly small portions and somewhat expensive compared to Yanni's. I felt that my gyro was bland, so I guess I needed to pay the up-charge for additional spiciness, which feels to me like they're making it bland to force you to pay extra to actually enjoy tasty food. Three star food, but I'm deducting one star for two things; when they called us to pick up our order, it wasn't complete, we had to go back and remind them what we paid for and didn't receive. And second, our cashier significantly overused the word "protein." We had some questions about the chicken and ever response was, "that protein is... " Stop it with the millennial-speak. I already said we wanted chicken... call it chicken. UPDATE: I received an email from Steve the owner and he discussed some training issues that he had around the time I visited. Every other time someone from a restaurant has contacted me and asked for a second chance I've said no, it doesn't seem right. I leave reviews based on how I honestly feel and I would never leave a false review in hopes of getting a discount on an upcoming visit. But this time, based on the fact that I felt the original order taker could have done a much better job of guiding us to the food we wanted, and based on my email and conversation with the owner, I went back to Mezze and it was a very different experience. Sheree (I hope I'm spelling that correctly) was super helpful in explaining the variations and many different sauces. My spiced up gyro was very good and my wife loved her chicken salad and rice. I've updated my review according. Mezze is not inexpensive, I wish they had some coupons but overall we received quality food and it's definitely worth treating yourself from time to time.
