I'm visiting from Colorado and had the pleasure of working here this week. Wow, the kindness of the staff and high quality of coffee and food was a absolute delight. I will genuinely miss coming here when I go home. Bravo to good coffee and humans!

This is such a cute gem, hidden in downtown Otsego. The storefront has large windows to let in the light, and the interior is beautifully decorated. Mezzo serves higher grounds coffee, our favorite roaster up in Traverse City. There is a wide variety of beverages, including artisanal coffee drinks, already brewed coffee hot and waiting, and tea. There are also baked goods! There are tables and a few comfy chairs by the fireplace. The walls are decorated with art. This is the quintessential coffeehouse - cozy, warm, artsy, with friendly baristas and great coffee. Thanks to yelper Kate for the rec!

Stopped in while waiting on my wife who was having a job interview. It's a nicely decorated historic building. The restoration job was well done. The scroll work on the ceiling and walls was all perfectly restored! There was hand lettered signs and historic photos of the street and town. I tried one of their speciality espresso coffees the Stiletto. It was a White Mocha and it was flavored just right. Not super sweet nor too heavy mocha to drowned out the coffee. The employees were cheerful and explained their offering really well. Just the kind of service you'd expect from a friendly small town coffee joint/eatery! I was there after lunch time just after 1:00pm and there was plenty of foot traffic. This would lead me to believe the other reviews as to the level local patronage. It is connected to the Mezzo store next door and patrons are encouraged to take your coffee with you while you shop!! I did not try any food as I'd already eaten. But if I'm back I'm tempted to see if it is as good as others say!

Lovely selection of fresh baked goodies!

Best Coffee House in Otsego!! The Good: * The customer service is phenomenal and always comes with a smile! * The coffee is delicious and lots of flavor options to choose from. * The location! * Beautiful display of local artwork! The Caramel Frappe is way better then anywhere else! A must have! The bad: Umm.... absolutely nothing is bad! Overall: A solid 5 stars!

Twice we found ourselves in Otsego. Some weeks ago, we had driven to South Haven to see a recently newlywed mother and her baby, and we took a roundabout drive home, ending up in Gobles and then Allegan and then finally Otsego. We were famished. So we spotted Mezzo downtown. More recently, we were in search of a certain type of teddy bear, and knew that Otsego, like many of the towns that surround Kalamazoo, had antique shops. Wanting a break from our search, we grabbed some coffee and muffins at Mezzo. Mezzo has a unique niche in the Otsego community, with only some mild competition from a nearby Biggby Coffee site which is closer to the highway. Mezzo provides a variety of coffee and non coffee drinks, along with pastries and salads, as well as excellent customer service and internet access, in a comfortable setting in the downtown. As my girl and I sat in comfy chairs near the rear savoring our coffees, we saw a number of customers seemed to know each other, so there are probably a fair number of locals that frequent Mezzo. The coffees we drank during both visits were hot and refreshing. We had less good fortune with some of the other things Mezzo offers. After the South Haven visit, we had lunch at Mezzo. My girl and I both had the broccoli and chicken bake as well as a Blueberry and a Maple scones to eat later at home. We found the hot dish - a combination of slices of chicken breast meat and florets of broccoli, covered in layers of what we figured were Cream of Mushroom soup, cheddar cheese, and minced bacon - to be inordinately salty. We have often run into scones at restaurants and bakeries that have textures too similar to cake or cupcakes. But not these. The texture of the scones was not unlike a decent baking powder biscuit; unfortunately, they made for bland eating. The Blueberry scone had scant number of blueberries, and whatever flavor was evident on the Maple scone came exclusively from the icing. So, nice texture, no taste. Second time, we had better luck with muffins we enjoyed with our coffee. So, we have more positive than negative feelings. If we happen to travel through Otsego in the future I see us stopping again. And, if I worked or lived in the area, I could easily find myself sitting in Mezzo with a cup of coffee reading a newspaper or working on a iPad.

    Inside looking out.

Time to see if it was worth the stop. Y'all. It's totally worth the stop. This shop is super cute, the employees are AMAZING and the coffee and treats are top notch. My wife and I enjoyed two of their signature drinks, and our kids demolished the macarons. The menu is pretty big for a cafe, and they have their own bakers in house. When I expressed interest in ordering a cake, one of the bakers came up from the back to talk time through the cake, listing option after option. Very impressive. Let's just say I took a frequent buyer card to add some more punches down the road.

They were really good to work with as my only requirement was to have 2 birthday cake flavor macarons. The coffee was good too ;) but I got no photo. In the beginning of Covid they had a pickup/ordering window. I was slightly disappointed to see that had been removed and you must go in now, but they are requiring masks and have a table between the cashier and myself. My only thing was that because the cupcakes were refrigerated, I think that affected the crispness of the outer layer of the macarons. Last time i had one from here it was much flakier and light on the outside. Still tasted great tho!!

Inside the cafe is a gift shop filled with art, apparel, and fun local items like shirts and sweatshirts, which was fun to browse. You place your coffee order at a little window outside, at least during the fall when we visited; I am honestly not sure how it works in the winter months. When we arrived, there was a decent line of people waiting, which we took as a good sign. Clearly, this spot is popular. I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded good, but I ended up choosing the Harvest Moon Latte ($6.25). It had a good mix of brown sugar and spice flavor, and I did enjoy it overall, but the espresso was slightly more bitter than I typically prefer, and the drink was not very sweet despite the brown sugar flavor. Ultimately, I am glad I ordered it hot because the whipped cream on top melted into the drink and added a bit of sweetness, which helped balance the flavor. The staff did an excellent job handling the crowd and keeping things moving smoothly, even with a lot of people waiting for drinks. Since we had a large group, we were lucky enough to grab seats at the long outdoor table with swing seats, which was such a fun and unique feature. The outdoor seating area, in general, is cool and adds to the laid-back, artsy vibe of the cafe. Overall, Woosah is a great stop for coffee with a fun atmosphere and unique setup. It is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.
