Tired of giving this place second chances. Crappy tasting beer. Bottle beer tasted flat. Selection of beers on tap sucks.

Paid almost $14 for their daily special. It was ice cold. Had to wait for a cashier to cash me out for over 10 mins. Not impressed.

Service is fast, place is decently clean for the foot traffic, the servers all look happy and eager to work. I ordered tortilla soup, I usually like it with a cup of rice and avocado like most places serve it. However, I definitely think this is a safe Mexican food restaurant when it comes to not overdoing it with spices and the extra stuff. My soup had a decent amount of chicken. I had a mimosa, loved that they used fresh orange juice. Flour tortillas were delicious! Before heading out you need to have the sweet bread!! So goooodd!

People say when in San Antonio, do like the San Antonian's. Nobody really says that. I mean, I just…read moredid, but I also just made it up. With that being said, let's make up a review. Except I'm not actually making the review up, I've been to the place. Both San Antonio and the restaurant moments away from being reviewed. I'm always down for solid Mexican food. It's always pretty damn good. I mean, at the pure base of things, it's basically the same few ingredients, just different vessels to get it to your mouth. I'm never bad about that. I love transportation. Mi Tierra was a pretty great looking place. Plenty of space, a nice outside waiting area, plus a bakery. I have never been to a place with a bakery that I didn't like. It seemed like a very authentic place, and that's coming from a resident of Michigan. A resident that eats Taco Bell. A resident who eats Taco Bell and think's THAT'S authentic Mexican. The first thing I noticed was that this place did not seem to serve burritos. Not a marker really for me, but it was something I've never came across before. I also thought that you were stuck ordering enchiladas or tacos in a meal type of setting. Upon further questioning, you can order a la cart. That was a relief. I ended up ordering the enchiladas Verdes because sometimes I ignore my color palate and go for green. And because I can't just stop eating one form of meat, cheese, and sauce, I ordered a taco. Actually, I just ordered a taco because I wanted a dryer enchilada. Or did I order the enchiladas because I wanted a wetter taco...I don't know anymore. Anywho, I ground beef, American style taco. Now, I've always been a big fan of chips and salsa. Some salsa hits, some miss. Some salsa is pureed and is basically red water. Some salsa is just a full tomato. I like my salsa like I like my orange juice. With extra calcium. Wait. Mild pulp. That's it. This salsa pretty much hit those notes. Had good flavor and a little spice left to linger. The main course came out and everything looked delicious. Green enchiladas looked exactly like I expected. However, it took me a moment to realize I was not looking at a burrito...but instead, my taco. It was served a peculiar way. wrapped, seam down, with a little bit of the meat on top, pico and lettuce on the outside, next to it. It was a burrito peacocking as a taco. I've never seem this display before, and I have been to many Taco Bell and non-Taco Bell restaurants. The taste was pretty good, though. All the taco flavor in a burrito jacket. The enchiladas were pretty decent, too. Everything tasted like it had all the ingredients and that they were in all the right spots. No doubt about it, I was full after e

We had a seat at a nice little outdoor table and checked out the menu. Once we got the attention of the wait staff we ordered a flight of multi-flavored Frozen Margaritas and a Botanas Platter consisting of Pollo Poppers, Mini Beef Quesadillas and stuffed Jalapenos along with guacamole and sour cream. The Botanas Platter was light but a bit unexciting/bland so we chose not to have an entrée and continued to sip our Frozen Margaritas on this warm day. All the flavors were delicious and refreshing. I do understand that they were a bit busy, but trying to get the attention of our server was a definite chore and the wait staff did not seem to be terribly interested in assisting anyone or getting the orders out to their customers in a timely manner. This was also the first Mexican Restaurant that did not offer complimentary chips and salsa/queso to their customers. We did find that rather odd. Overall Casa Rio was ok, but the lack of service and disinterest in their customers really put us off but we really did enjoy the flight of frozen Margaritas.

Our waitress Jade was a true salesperson. My wife wanted a $7 domestic beer but Jade kept pointing out the more expensive $19 keep the glass beer. We told her we did not want that item and asked which beers qualified under the $7 price. Jade pointed out Corona. We are not so familiar with beers so again pointing to the $7 dollar beer Jade said it was $7 dollars so we ordered it. Jade had strongly pushed the $27 dollar margaritas but we told her that was expensive and we were not interested in it or the $19 dollar keep the glass beer. When we got our bill we were charged for the $19 dollar beer. We told Jade that we had emphasized and physically pointed out on the menu that we wanted the $7 beer, but she lied and said we did not do so. She then said we had consumed the beer so we had to pay for it. To avoid ruining our evening further I paid the bill and left. Against my normal habit of tipping well for good service I did not tip Jade because she was dishonest. If she had admitted her error I would have been willing to tip my usual 20% but the response from Jade precluded such on my part. I would advise anyone dining there with Jade as their waitress to record a verification of what you ordered or else be prepared for errors on your bill. We will never dine at Rita's on the River again when we return to San Antonio.

We've definitely experienced more attentive and engaging service elsewhere. I asked our server if the bistec taco was a top seller, and she seemed to take that as me ordering it which I get, things get busy, but it felt a little rushed. For appetizers, we ordered the guacamole and the chile con queso. The queso was actually pretty good and probably the highlight of the meal. The guacamole, however, fell flat for me. it definitely needed salt, pepper, and a good squeeze of lemon or lime to bring it to life. As for the entrees, I ordered the bistec tacos and was honestly disappointed. The meat was rubbery and lacked flavor. My husband got the shrimp aguachiles, and the shrimp were extremely soft almost raw and just tossed in the sauce. The presentation was beautiful, but it was missing that bright citrus and seasoning that really makes aguachiles shine. The seafood overall had a fishy/shrimpy taste that didn't come across as fresh. My mother-in-law ordered the Torre de mariscos, which leaned heavily on soy sauce and ended up overpowering the dish rather than enhancing it. Overall, the food just didn't wow us. Maybe my expectations are a little higher as a NOLA foodie, but this one missed the mark. Would I go back? Probably not.

We had a team dinner on a Wednesday on the last week of April. Of course since we're in San…read moreAntonio, Tex-Mex was going to be the choice of restaurants to pick from and this place won via tiebreaker during our team vote. It's safe to say everyone was more than satisfied with this place after dining here. Let's start with the drinks here. As with any Tex-Mex spot in SA, it comes down to margaritas; and this place does it exquisitely. Some of us arrived early to take advantage of the happy hour margarita prices ($5/margarita during HH) where you can get it frozen or on the rocks. Many of us decided on frozen since the texas heat was full blast outside. These are tasty and presented well with a nice blend of tequila flavor. Since these are prepared in house and through a margarita machine, the bartenders kept them coming and gave us a reminder when HH would end (from 3pm to 6pm FYI) so we could get one more order in before it ended. Right when HH ended, we were led to our table which accommodated all 12 of us. It's strongly encouraged to make reservations via OpenTable and definitely call if you're gonna have reservations of 8+ people. Fortunately when I spoke with them earlier that morning, they made sure our table was ready around 6. Since that's when HH ended and we had a few drinks in us, many of us were buzzing and ready to feast after we were seated. Upon being served the complimentary chips and salsa, we also ordered table-side guacamole and ceviche for the table which we all scarfed down. The guacamole uses lime AND orange which gives a nice sweet citrus finish to the spiciness of the jalapeno and creaminess of the avocados. The ceviche included an assortment of fish, cilantro, onion, and tomato in a lime juice/oil marinade. This was refreshing and the fish very tender. Definitely recommend putting the guacamole on top of it on either one of the crackers or chips so your taste buds can really explode. Both are signature appetizers and should be considered upon being seated. Now for entrees, there was a combination of dishes people ordered and everyone loved them all. Several people ordered chicken/beef/combo fajitas which come steaming hot on the skillet and served with flour (or corn) tortillas. These definitely smelled incredible and tasted just as good according to the ones who ordered it. A couple others ordered enchiladas, mainly the enchiladas divorciadas where one is covered in green salsa, the other in red. These were also a popular hit due to the different salsas and the enchiladas were very tender and filling. Other items such as the nachos topped with shrimp, the chicken flautas, and the Chile Rennano stuffed pepper all were devoured. I had the Pollo con Mole which had that cocoa flavor I love from Mole. The chicken was very tender and the poblano rice was a nice compliment. After our meals, we were served complimentary tres leches cake; a perfect ending to the meal. The cake was complimentary as a result of the Spurs winning their match up against the Portland Trailblazers and closing out the series. Thank you Spurs! This was one of the best team dinners I've had; the one where every single person couldn't stop raving about the food, drinks, atmosphere, and the experience. I forgot our servers name but she was incredible and made sure we got what we needed. No doubt we'll be returning here again for some Tex Mex and more of those delicious margaritas! Muchas Gracias Paloma Blanca!

It's located right on the river, and we chose to sit outside. The weather was beautiful and the view was really nice, which definitely added to the experience. The only downside was the birds -- they were everywhere and made it a little distracting while trying to eat. As for the food, we originally wanted fajitas for one, but that wasn't an option, so we ordered the fajita tacos instead. The fajita meat was excellent , super tender and practically melted in your mouth. The chips and salsa were also very good. Charro beans were amazing! The queso, however, was disappointing. It was very thick, and by the time we started eating it, it had already turned cold and hard. If you go, I'd recommend skipping the queso. I almost left when they brought it out. Glad we stayed. I don't have a photo but we had ordered nachos with everything but jalapeños and received a small tray (handful) of chips with cheap cheese spread.
