My son has truly thrived here, as I always notice that he's learned new things even before I've introduced it to him. He has been loved by his teachers so much and he's already made so many friends. He is 2 years old now and says his friends names everyday on his way to school. Impressionable Years is wonderful and I would highly recommend it! I will say that they've had some turnover with some teachers and similar to many daycares, one of our cups went missing and they could improve on some organizational skills but we are all human and they always keep my baby safe and loved and I know it's a great place because everyday since he's started, he's been excited when we arrived and any question or concern I've ever had, has been addressed timely! They are also super clean and clean the toys and rooms often and have "parents night out" usually once a month which is an awesome way to know your kid is with someone you know and trust and you can have a nice evening out or even at home to yourself! I could say so much more, but all I need to say is, it's a great place. Your child will learn, remain developmentally on target (even early), be loved and cared for, have lots of time outside, and establish friendships!

The sad story of impressionable years daycare can be compared to the story of a beloved bakery…read morethat, at one time, baked every cake from scratch and with care, only to compromise the quality of their product because they scaled the business to an extent that the quality that was once associated with the business was impossible to maintain. It's a common story, one that could be avoided by tempering growth until the business has a chance to scale with the increase in business. This maintains product quality while also adapting the methodology to serve more customers. It's a difficult process that many businesses fail to account for, which is why we see once-great businesses close their doors when better options become available. A once-great daycare that has grown to the point where the quality of the education and supervision the kids receive has become substandard. My family has had a long history with Impressionable Years. Once owned by parents, now passed down to their daughter. The parents built this company from the ground up. The population cap was low in those days, and the parent owners were on top of their game. The employees were of high quality, the owners were always there, and the collaboration between the parent and the center was easy, streamlined, and productive. That is no longer the case. My three children went through Impressionable Years, and I lament that my third child did not receive the same standard as my older two did. When dropping my child off, teachers are commonly too busy talking amongst themselves or doomscrolling on their phones. Most teachers won't even look up from their phones when acknowledging your presence. This can only communicate that this practice is tolerated. The feedback you receive from the school will commonly be short-handed and unhelpful. I can forgive this for most things because when you have a class of 20 children, I don't expect a fully articulated essay on my kids' day. This becomes an issue, however, when your child doesn't meet the center's expectations. They will berate you with short-handed comments (that are pre-written) that say your child made terrible choices that day. But here is the main issue with the center: when you push for specifics, you will commonly get the cold shoulder. The owner of the establishment (Courtney) makes high-level decisions and then blames her mother when she knows the outcome will be controversial or is not justifiable given the student handbook. Her Mother handed over the business to her almost 2 years ago. A director who deflects responsibility is a giant red flag. When my child was dismissed from the daycare for "bad behavior," I asked for the video footage so I could see what happened (this was denied). I asked for specifics on what happened, but when Courtney kept deflecting, and I kept pressing her, she hung up on me and then refused to pick up the phone again. If you take nothing else away from this, then highlight this part. If you ask basic questions about your child, they will crash out because you don't buy the narrative that they are giving to you. The reason they can't give you specifics is that your child will not be adequately supervised. The teachers are too busy on their phones, talking on their phones (please count how many ear buds are actively in the ears of the teachers when dropping your kids off), and the center is removed from any responsibility because they can kick your kids at anytime with no notice. There are other problems as well: They commonly send employees home when the student population doesn't justify their presence. Yet, you have to pay full tuition whether your kids show up or not. This is a predatory practice that seeks to maximize profits while causing inconvenience to parents. This little flaw will show itself when they put your kids in a room that is developmentally inappropriate for your child due to "staffing problems," because the room's population didn't meet the standard for them to pay someone to be there all day. Impressionable Years was a great daycare. It is no longer. This is what happens when something is given to someone who doesn't have to earn it. The quality of this place has been run into the ground. And even though the cake you get isn't quite what it used to be, you should, as a parent, ask yourself what you are paying for, and whether the management is competent and coherent in their ability to communicate to parents. All of which this place lacks.

They focus on all aspects of child's development- education, social, science and technology. They follow STEM curriculum, where teachers engage each child in a daily scheduled activities. You can drop in on any day and watch your kid interact with their daily activities and teachers and you always get a daily report of your child's day when you come and pick them up. They also offer a monthly newsletter to keep the parents know of what's going on for that month. My overall experience with the Goddard School is amazing , thank you Ms Manisha and staff. All i can say is my child will be attending kindergarten this year with a bag of knowledge and sweet memories.

We played many times during the week but always on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Now, MNCPP-C has decided to increase their prices which we ultimately agreed to continue to support. But now, more importantly, the 2/1 cost for tennis on Tuesday and Thursday is gone. There were people many years retired in the Tuesday and Thursday group which will now no longer have a place to play community tennis because some of these Seniors can no longer afford the price increase. We fought for many years to get an indoor tennis and education center in the Southern part of the County and that fell on deaf ears for more than 30 years. Cosca is now planning to have indoor programs in lieu of our Senior tennis. Cosca is cold in the Winter, extremely hot in the Summer and water is on Court 4 when it rains--we endured these conditions for many years. The Courts are always dirty and now, it is time to no longer support these Courts. Let me suggest you join Bowie SportFit.

Having earned a second-degree black belt myself years ago, I know firsthand how valuable martial arts can be for kids. Unfortunately, as their clientele expanded, the quality drastically diminished. Classes became increasingly rushed, with students quickly churned through and rewarded with belt stripes after every session, regardless of skill or understanding--akin to a meaningless participation trophy. Their scheduling approach makes everything worse. Classes are booked back-to-back with zero transition time, creating absolute chaos. The parking lot is a constant traffic jam with one group trying to leave while another arrives. Inside, the changing areas are a zoo with kids literally pushing each other to get their belongings while parents wait in the designated area. Classes routinely start 5 minutes late and end 5 minutes early - that's 10 minutes of instruction time lost just to accommodate their overcrowded schedule. I brought this up politely, but my concerns were completely ignored. After two years, my child still hasn't learned the basics: proper stances, how to punch correctly, or even simple defensive moves. Instead, she spent time running obstacle courses, practicing phone numbers she already knew backward and forward, and getting lessons on cleaning up after herself and helping parents. I don't need to pay premium rates for things I teach at home. The overcrowding got ridiculous. One freezing day (19°F with 35mph winds), we had to park a full 7 minutes away from the building. We brought this up stating that this has become a recurring issue. Our concerns were met with dismissal rather than understanding. Immediately after, our child developed a severe ear infection resulting in temporary hearing loss and antibiotics treatment. Children get sick for all sorts of reasons, but as a parent, this correlation was hard to ignore. So, our kid lost interest in martial arts. When we expressed our decision to leave the school due to these issues, instead of addressing our concerns or taking accountability, we were told to send a handwritten cancellation notice via certified mail 30 days in advance--a clearly designed inconvenience to deter cancellations and extend payment cycles. Ultimately, their practices do not reflect the integrity, discipline, or accountability they claim to teach. If you genuinely seek meaningful martial arts instruction for your child, delivered by people who actually embody these values, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I waited until my membership ended to post this due to a documented pattern of retaliation by the owner. Safety & Environment: * Crime: Multiple cars have been stolen or broken into in the lot. The owner did not warn members and was dismissive when another member and I were personally threatened by a man on-site. * Privacy Violations: Members were filmed without consent for the owner's adult subscription site. It took multiple requests to remove the footage, and one member was temporarily banned for complaining. * Harassment: A member used racial slurs and made death threats toward others. The owner did not cancel their membership until that individual was caught stealing from the studio. Facility Maintenance: * Hygiene: Roaches have been observed on site and the owner failed to notify the community. * Equipment: Poles are poorly maintained--some sway, creak, or have cracks. Chrome-allergy risks are ignored as poles are moved without labels. The bathroom is often inoperable (clogged toilet/shower used for storage). Poor Management: * Communication: Benefits (like unlimited open sessions) were stripped mid-contract without notice, and members were penalized for using them. Different members are provided with different resolutions for the same issue. Many are provided with no resolution at all. She has switched the app used to provide studio updates 3 times within the past year and is adamant about her being the one to disseminate information through it, but not receptive to members trying to communicate with her through it. Despite switching the app 3 times she expects people to inconvenience themselves by downloading the app du jour each time and as an incentive offers benefits to members that use the most recent app, even though we all have the same membership contracts and pricing tiers. * Volatility: The owner frequently engages in disrespectful conflicts with students, staff, prospective staff, and guests. She has threatened to call the police on a member for simply raising a system issue. Supporting Black-owned businesses is important to me, but I cannot ignore the poor treatment Black women specifically have faced here. Many polers around the DMV started their journeys at this studio, because it's one of the oldest in the area. Many in the DMV pole community have left for the reasons I shared and more. Please do your research and ask around before signing a contract. I wish I had this information before starting a membership. I never would've signed up if I had known. The studio owner has publicly claimed that she's always seen as the villain and the only members that complain are those that don't get their way. But I think if she took the time to sit and reflect, listen to the community, and not approach every conversation defensively it would be a valuable experience.

For a while Colleen was the only Lyra instructor, but now they have Elixir and Lyra Bae as well. Each instructor's style varies and so do their difficulty level. With interest in Lyra still building up in the area, I think they'll have distinguished levels soon. I like to alternate between the Lyra instructors. What I love most about the studio is that it's very client/instructor centered. Schedules and class offerings are adjusted based on student interest and what the instructors want to teach. It really makes for a fun learning environment. Since joining I've gotten the opportunity to try many of their other classes, like Floor F@$?ery, Pole 1, Chair Playtime, etc. All the instructors are great at what they do and offer their own flair to each class. I have thoroughly enjoyed every instructor I've encountered. They really have me considering starting my pole journey! But I will say this: I hate their website but love the mobile app! Once you start at the studio, please download it bc it will make your life so much easier. There is also an online members only chat available. Their memberships are affordable and they constantly share specials and events on their IG.
