After our plumbing was fixed, we went to Yelp for recommendations for someone to repair the sheetrock and paint. We got bids from 5 people. We hired Jose Carlos at MH Painting and Drywall and are glad we did. Once we settled on a date, Carlos and his assistant Noel showed up as promised and went right to work. the end result, 6 hours later, is beautiful. They cleaned up the mess afterwards as well. Jose and one of his team members came through last week to patch up a small area that we needed repairing in the living room. Our roof had a leak and the ceiling at the top of our staircase split open with a 2 foot crack. Jose Mendoza had done a lot of work for a neighbor, so I asked for his number. I sent him photos, and he came out and gave an estimate for the repair. Jose put up plastic to protect the wall and furnishings and taped, textured and painted the patch with paint he selected after seeing the ceiling color/sheen, so that the repair is indistinguishable from the rest of the ceiling. The quote came in $100 to $150 more than others who included painting the wall being repaired, and in some cases including the purchase of paint. The quote from MH said "wall" so for the price we figured they would include the paint, the painting of the wall and we were paying more for higher quality service - keeping the space clean, etc. No paint was included in the estimate and the estimate from MH only included painting the space repaired - if we had the paint available for them. I would have gladly paid more to have hd the group help paint another extra wall in the room but the inflated estimate and miscommunication felt deceptive. MH also did not return the next day to finish the job or message to inquire about coming by to finish. He discounted the original estimate by $50. Ask lots of questions before working with this business, folks. read more

He had the best prices and most knowledge when it came to all of the projects we wanted done. We originally contacted him about painting our new house ceiling and walls. We decided to go forward with re taping and skim coating our walls since it was built in 1969 and we wanted to do it correctly. They wallpapered, wainscoted, painted, re trimmed. We asked them to do a lot of additional things they didn't have to do (hang new fixtures, install new recessed lighting, move wires, remove carpet) and he gave us the best prices to do so. He was honest throughout the entire project and if anything we were the ones pushing for more money to be spent. Compared to any contractor we have heard about, he stays on schedule despite his high demand. Wilmer and Noel were extremely fast and efficient, the worked all day and often into the night (we had not moved into our home). They cleaned up at the end of every day. At first, the ceiling didn't look exactly perfect (the drywall was placed higher up so it didn't seamlessly meet with the side wall) but we could barely notice and it didn't bother us. Dreadful experience (for the second time). I was told the first debacle was not common, so I agreed (via my designer) to use them again. What a huge mistake. A 5 to 7 day jobs turns into a 5 to 7 week job. They are amazingly sloppy and do not clean up at the end of each day. At one point, the mess in the house was so bad that I had to take my pets and move into a hotel for three nights. Once the work is done, it is not bad, but whole sections of wall were missing paint. They never painted the woodwork. I had to call in WOW painters (who I strongly recommend.) Sloppy, messy, late and haphazard work - NEVER AGAIN. read more
