    Oxtails, yellow rice, Mac-&-Cheese

I love this place soo much! I never hear people talk about it though so I feel like it is a hidden gem. They offer a great variety of food from soul food to Caribbean food to halal food and everything is super delicious and flavorful. The customer service is really great too which always goes a long way. The prices are good and the portions are big! If you like the halal trucks around Charlotte they sell the chicken and lamb over rice here too. I've had the oxtails, beef stew, curry chicken, halal food, and more from here and none of it has ever disappointed me. The very last time I went we got turkey wings and they were extremely delicious and they were so nice to give us a huge portion of it. I'll definitely get the turkey wings as my main meat from now on since I liked it so much. They have a variety of meats and a variety of sides and there is definitely a good dish for everyone here.

What I paid for 3 people.. crazy!! Never again from here.

The food was bland and it was way over Pricey, they do give you a lot, but it's not even worth it never ordering from here again. I did not like it I've had better. Waste my money.

Collard Greens that are clearly not good to serve

IF I COULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS I WOULD. I was served collard greens that are not fresh. I called to complain and the woman at the store tried to tell me it was fresh when i could clearly see it was not. I told her i would be returning for my refund. Hopefully I get it or I will be going above them. CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE COOKING AND SERVING IT. There is no way that you could've missed this. You have to clean and cut them before cooking. It is blatant that this was ignored and cooked anyway. Shame on this establishment. You better hope and pray I don't get sick!

Take-out only right now. Social distancing enforced and masks worn by staff.

First timed trying Dominican food and I really enjoyed it! Ordered the Oxtail Stew (Rabo Guisado) not realizing it would be spicy. Not a huge fan of spice, but I couldn't stop eating it! The meat was so flavorful and tender. On the side were a (HUGE) pile of rice and stewed cabbage. For me personally, the meat portion was perfect for just one meal, while the sides were plentiful enough for two. Basically meaning the $15 price tag a little steep for me. However, the non-protein freaks out there could probably split this meal into two and it would be an awesome value! Also good to note that currently Mi Barrio is still take-out only.

This is a jerk chicken plate with addition of plantains!!

Ohh yeahhh!!! The variety of choices of (not processed) food, can be a challenge to choose from. All of it is tempting to taste. If you like Halal or Dominican foods... I'll be back!

We came here because my brother recommended it. I'm Dominican and absolutely love finding and eating at small hole in the wall places. Today we came here and chose two different chicken plates and shared them. People were not kidding when they said that you were gonna get a great portion. If you're tryna feed your family def come here. The customer service is great, the people are sweet. It's a bonus if you're latino. It's right across from G-Mart. Love my people, love the food. Make this your spot! The food was 10/10

You can get yummy, authentic empanadas from this restaurant that don't cost an arm and a leg like the gentrified ones near Uptown.

It's not authentic. The food is pretty good but not authentic dominican and some food lacks flavor like the greens, cabbage, and mac&cheese

Coming from New York City, this place is very familiar and gives a great selection of Dominican and Local Halal food.

When I initially visited (in their first couple of months after opening) I was super in love with this place. Unfortunately every experience after that has been super inconsistent. I've ordered their seafood sancocho three times and every single time I've gotten a different dish. The last time I ordered it - it was more so vegetables with 2 teaspoons of broth, some rice and old fried yucca. If you look at the photo - I believe you can tell the yucca looks like it'd been in the fridge for days and they just threw it in there for good measure. The waiter didn't smile and generally looked miserable to have to deal with me. I asked for hot sauce that never came. Just overall, really disappointed in my last experience here and unfortunately won't be retuning due to how inconsistent my last few visits have been. You might get something that tastes decent, you might not.

Flights from Guatemala would arrive, and passengers would walk off the plane carrying bags of Pollo Campero. The aroma was unforgettable. Ever since then, I've been curious about what made this chicken so special. Fast forward to Charlotte, and now I finally understand the hype. I stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered the four-piece roasted chicken meal with sweet plantains, coleslaw, and a roll. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The chicken was juicy and packed with spices that set it apart from your typical fast-food chicken chain. It's hard to explain until you try it, but the seasoning has a distinctive flavor that makes Pollo Campero uniquely its own. The sweet plantains were excellent. Soft, caramelized, and sweet with those slightly crispy edges that make plantains so addictive. The coleslaw was cold, creamy, and crunchy, which paired perfectly with the chicken. The service was friendly, the value was excellent, and my order was accurate. I always take a moment to check my order before leaving the drive-thru, and everything was exactly right. Several excellent local restaurants, too. So I had high hopes today for Pollo Campero. PC was clean when I arrived at 12:30. Quite busy with about a third of the tables in use and the remaining were clear of dirty dishes. Surprising because they don't have a trash can that I could see - the staff bus and clean tables, clearing them swiftly. I ordered a three piece at the counter and it didn't take long until a running found my tent card and I was able to start. The chicken was thoroughly cooked, still moist. Not much for flavor in the skin today, it needed some hot sauce to bring out the taste. The cole slaw was creamy and crisp. Still good but also a little bland. The small dinner roll wrapped in plastic was fresh and fluffy. Overall, it's a nice little fast food spot. If you're looking for something in a known quantity along South Boulevard near the light rail, this will work nicely. [Review 728 of 2025 - 4162 in North Carolina - 24288 overall]
