The cashier and owner were very nice and friendly. I only wanted a small meal so I decided to try the mini with Jerk chicken and rice and peas, and I wasn't disappointed. Sabrina, the cashier was nice and welcoming. The menu is facing the door when you walk inside. The food is price average in comparison to other Jamaican restaurants. I had a beef patty it was absolutely delicious and my friend had a chicken patty. I ordered chicken wings cabbage and plantains and my friend ordered oxtails, rice, and cabbage. The food was piping hot which is always a plus and the weight was not very long. This is a pick up only restaurant so you're not able to sit inside and enjoy your meal. This time I did put it in the special instructions and not only was there no extra gravy, there was no gravy at all. Food was still good. The online ordered process was super easy and my food was ready in the 15 minutes it took me to drive there. The process for pickup is super germ free and safe and the cashier gave off such positive vibes. The Mac and cheese has to be ordered as an extra which sucks it doesn't come as an option for side but it's worth the extra $3 or $5 for sure some of the best Mac and cheese and you can tell it's homemade! The rice absorbed the sauce and marrow and was very flavorful with a nice coat of melted beef marrow. The coco bread was sweet and complimented the spicy beef patty. Great food and lots of it, making it a great value for the money. The young lady behind the counter was super friendly and service was quick. I ordered the curry chicken dinner. Perfect amount of seasoning on the chicken which I'm guessing was mostly thigh meat. One word of caution...they chop the chicken bones and all, so I was picking through the bones. It didn't bother me, I would just be careful to be sure. The dish included cooked cabbage, rice (choice of white, yellow or with peas) with peas and a couple fried plantains. Delicious!! The container of food itself weighs about a pound! * they were friendly * the atmosphere is nice feels like Jamaica * prices seem fair The negatives * Curry is a bit spicy but some Jamaicans over do it as in this case. * the container that the food comes in is entirely too small, it's almost impossible to eat out if it. * it's extremely messy, I personally don't like my food all mixed together looking like dog food. * encouraged soliciting at a restaurant where you're trying to eat is a big negative. After I got my meal and sat down in their very small bar stool counters, a guy walks in and started staging all of his jewelry in my space while I'm trying to eat. Obviously he has no brain so I didn't even bother saying anything to him and I just moved to the other side. The chicken was seasoned and tender and the carrots and potatoes absorbed the flavors of the gravy. Low prices, big portions and huge flavors! I've had the coconut curry shrimp, the jerk salmon, the beef patty and the Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious but the Mac and cheese was my favorite, some of the best I've ever had. The beef patty had a nice spice to it and was hot and fresh even with delivery. Really nice portion of salmon especially considering the price, I've seen smaller portions elsewhere for several more dollars. The shrimp were good size and you got a good amount of them too, I didn't count before I ate them but I would say at least 10-12 good medium size shrimp. This place is good, real good, and one of the best lunch deals in Charlotte. Curry chicken with rice and peas(beans), cabbage, plantain, and a drink for $7 out the door. And that chicken is really tender and flavorful. I will put a disclaimer that if you havn't had legit Caribbean style chicken, make sure you know that there will cut up bones in there. There isn't really much signage that is visible from a distance. It's in a little strip on the side of a grocery store. Not really much in the way of seating, so get it to go. Staff is super friendly and inviting. Not the best area of town, but I didn't feel unsafe or anything during lunch hours.
