The food was good. There are many options, nothing to big to brag about. The place is nice, and the workers are great.

White rice, sweet plantains, fried fish and a cup of red beans. To drink, meregue flavored country club soda.

Simple and to the point, this restaurant is a cafeteria-line style restaurant with lots of options for Dominican-Caribbean comfort foods. Yes, it is authentic. The staff is friendly and courteous. Plus side, this Dominican restaurant serves huge portions for a good price - a bit cheaper than some of the other Dominican restaurants in the area. Appropriate for bringing kids too. The space is clean and tidy - and plenty of parking outside. Quick, casual and delicious. I will be returning to El Bohio Tipico. If you work/live in the area, definitely give it a try - you wont regret it, promise.

It was ok, but they didn't have any plantains and that's a big negative!

Meh! This place reminds me of Blue Sky in Miami where they serve food by the pound only not as good. I ordered the Roasted Pork which was dry and the rice and red beans were bland. The restaurant is attached to a latin supermarket which baffles me as to how they would run out of platano maduros! A Dominican restaurant without maduros is like a Peruvian restaurant without Ceviche. It's in a sketchy neighborhood so be aware of your surroundings. I wouldn't recommend.

I will start by saying that this place is now serving dog food. The food was absolutely disgusting…read more- everything was hard, dry, and burnt, including the cake! Absolutely zero "F's" were given in the food preparation. The textures were appalling, as if the food had been scorched and then left out for hours before serving. The only remotely edible thing was the cold, burnt plantains, but even those were barely tolerable. I kept biting into gritty bits that I couldn't even identify as food, which made me seriously question the safety of what I was eating. If I had access to a lab, I would submit it to see what I'd [really] been served. I ended up throwing my entire meal in the garbage. To top it off, they've changed the name of the place, which just raises even more red flags. I can't help but wonder why they felt the need to do that. It's a waste of money, time, hope and food to ever go here. They disrespected the life of the poor chicken who died for this wretched soot seasoned, curry chicken slop. If my husband or anyone suggested this place I would seriously consider throwing hands. It doesn't matter what they are calling it now. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this place.

I was introduced to this place by my mom she would rant and rave about how delicious the food is…read moreand she wasn't wrong! Since moving to the Carolina's from up North I wasn't sure what to expect. I've have both dined in as well as carry out and the experience is always pleasant. I've had a few things from the menu but my favorite is the oxtail roti; It's a bit costly but well worth it as the meat is super tender, flavorful and the roti is pack full of meat. I also love the rice/ peas with the brown gravy and drinks are always phenomenal I've learned depending on the time of day you may be waiting for a bit but it's well worth it as everything is fresh, hot and made to order. The service/staff very friendly and helpful when it comes to ordering. The ambiance is upbeat, very clean and vibrant I wish I got a picture of my meal but somehow never makes it because it's that delicious

On a recent trip to Rock Hill, I stopped in at Island Grill & Pub to enjoy dinner…read more Although it was very cold outside, as soon as we walked in, we felt like we were immediately transported to a neighborhood cookshop in Port Antonio! The cashier was sweet and personable. She was multitasking, but still managed to be fully engaged in the service she provided to us. She kindly let us know what items were sold out for the day and also gave us time to look over the menu and decide on our order without making us feel rushed. While we waited for our food to arrive, we noticed a steady flow of customers all the way until closing time! It's clear Island Grill & Pub is a local favorite. The food is packaged up to go, but there are plenty of tables to dine-in once you have your food...and a big screen with movies and Jamaican music playing in the background to keep you entertained. The wait for the food is a bit long...but EVERYTHING came out very fresh, very authentic, and worth the wait. The portions were plentiful, the food was flavorful and seasoned well, and the items were priced well for the value. What we ordered: - Small Jerk Chicken plate with rice & peas and cabbage - Jerk Chicken pasta - Side order of Macaroni and cheese We wish we lived closer, so we could visit Island Grill & Pub regularly, but it's definitely on our list any time we travel to the Rock Hill area!
