I arrived to be told that "Yeah there's a couple of problems with that" 1. I've done my shoulder in and that's the most important so I can't do your install and 2. I don't have the proper install parts...." No phone call (because he thought I'd still be asleep - when I made the earliest appointment necessary...), no apology, hadn't even bothered to see if he could find another install location. I now have two very upset kids because we can't take our new boat with us on vacation this week. Way to go U-haul!

Employee said 'you brought it back with a 1/4 tank shy of when you left or it was recorded incorrectly on our end' and 'we have an additional charge for not putting it where it was' Either their trucks get worse gas mileage than a space shuttle, they like to over charge customers, faulty fuel gauge, or the place is filled with window lickers for employees.... Either way I guess that's the customers problem. U-haul corporate was just as stupid when I tried to explain that their truck gets less than a 1/2 gallon per mile and they were equally as bad and uncooperative. This place sucks!

The prices are much more reasonable compared to a lot of places north into Wisconsin and more south into Illinois. Eric was extremely helpful and made the process painless. He showed me everything from the bay doors (how to open and close, codes) to making sure the unit was locked securely. I had a close friend who helped me move who also commented on how nice this location was. I highly recommend this location!

Are they going to want to keep copies? These papers are none of their business. So I miss a few payments before Christmas. Then they slap you with a $25 late fee. So now I owe about $100. Now I made it through Christmas, I was going to pay the $100 I owed. NOPE. NOW I OWE $200. RIDICULOUS! Frankly an old customer like me gets a $20 break on the cost. I am sure Cube Smart is trying to push ALL the old customers out. I have talked to the onsite manager many times. KRISTY, who won't give her last name, doesn't seem to remember talking to me at all. No water or cold/heat damage, no animals, etc. They do a pretty good job of keeping their facility secure and they're pretty nice, too. The prices are reasonable and have been stable my whole time using C&A. They're, without a doubt, the best storage option in the greater Wonder Lake-McHenry area. Trust me, I visited a number of places. C&A was the only one with competitive pricing, lockers that don't smell like the dead or cigarette smoke, and an office that doesn't offend every visual and olfactory sensibility common to humans. So why only give them four stars? They're so goo that, when I was looking for lockers, they had far fewer available than any of the competitors. They had two available when I was looking compared to eight at the place on the far end of Barnard and 12 at a place on 120 in McHenry. I forget the rest of the places I checked. In short, if you can get in here, do it. They're great for long-term storage and also have very good gate hours for people who need to get in and out of their locker on a regular basis.

For all you fellow Chicago Cubs fans, you'll LOVE the fact that this U-Haul store is located on Waveland Avenue! Hey Chicago, whaddya say? Let's rent a U-Haul truck today! So I ended up renting a 15' truck for a day, and I have to say that of all the U-Haul locations I've rented from, I have now met the best U-Haul store owner ever in Karl (make sure you spell his name with a "K")! Be sure to ask him about van or truck availability, as well as to explain how much it will cost you per day AND cost per mile (depending on what vehicle you end up renting). In addition, be sure to also ask Karl about the "Take a box, Leave a box" program that he hopes to have in the future at this particular U-Haul location. The process of obtaining the 15' truck went very smoothly, and Karl even gave my buddy and me a free bottled of water each for our move! I mean, who does that anymore? Karl also included a helpful chart to let you know how much gas you'll need to put into the gas tank in order to get it back to the level the truck originally started with. The next morning, after I had returned the U-Haul truck, I saw the pride in cleanliness Karl has in his company when I saw him go to work wiping down the truck's dashboard and when he mentioned he would mop the entire floor of the truck's storage area afterward. Just FYI, for any future 15-foot truck renters, the gas needle took 10-15 minutes to go up from the 3/8 level to the 7/8 level I was supposed to fill the gas tank up to. All in all, Karl and his awesome customer service was the reason why I'm giving this U-Haul location 5/5 stars and the reason why I'm not going to rent a truck from anywhere else besides this U-Haul location if I ever need to move in Lake County again!
