Not the worst food I've ever had, but far from the best. This time on the island we were searching for some new favorites because Mr. Ning's is gone, as well as the Pic Nic Fry. I love mexican food, so we figured we'd give it a try. Really mediocre food, not terrible, but just plain. Their signature drink was good, the "Cozuela", but that wasn't enough to make the meal something that we'd eat again. On a bright note, the service was good and the waitress was friendly, but the rice, beans and basically everything on the plate was under-seasoned and bland. read more

Rolled the dice on this place with my girl. I was in the mood for Mexican food and a margarita. We ordered the ceviche for an appetizer. It was ok after some much needed Tapatio and lime juice. Added in. I ordered 2 margaritas for myself and my girl. When they showed up we were definitely impressed by the size of these drinks. Well that's where unfortunately this story goes south of the border from here. Im 100% sure these are the most watered down margaritas on the island. Huge waste of money. Seriously, not even so much as a slight buzz. I hoped the food would be good at least after that let down. I ordered one beef taco with rice and beans. The beef was dry and burnt. The rice was kinda stale tasting. So no bueno on the food or drink. Service was good from Alex our waiter, but it all ends there amigos. Check out the other spot on the beach side if you want Mexican. It looked better. read more

Our family of 5 ate lunch here. This place is below average for sure. Starting with the positives, the service was perfect and a few of the dishes were quite good. My taco salad had SEVERAL chunks of ice mixed in. Waitress brought me a new one after several minutes but was too grossed out to eat any more. Our $30 Cazuela famous drink was very small, sweet and not worth the price. There are plenty of other options to choose from. read more

I was really hungry when arriving to catalina, but the burger here was just not to my liking. My mother had gotten the camarones al mojo de ajo and she expressed how the beans tased canned, and how the rice was wet, tasted like water she said. My younger brother didn't even like the grilled cheese. Some of my other family members also agreed that the food was disgusting; therefore, I don't recommend this place. It's very well decorated and looks as if it could be good but do not fall for this! read more

Cristina was our server and was wonderful! Very attentive and gave great suggestions about the menu. She also gave us suggestions on sorts of activities we can do around the island. My parents and uncles will be visiting next weekend and I'm definitely going to have them come here and ask for Cristina! Thank you Cristina for the wonderful experience! read more

Food was great, we had huevos rancheros and bloodies. Would do again, home made hot sauce was tangy and vinegary which cut the fats nicely. Cristina was a very friendly and professional waitress, great service. read more

Got to the island seen they had there doors open walked in and they said not open yet at 10, so went back to ask if at 10am or in 10min the response and attitude of the lady just mest up mine and my family's appetite very rude!! Then try asking for her name and she got really defensive and her co worker just walked alway like if this has happened before never again going there!! A restaurant is to enjoy you real and be served with a great time along with food!! But anyways came to the lobster trap on the next treat it's a must!! This place was supposed to open at 9:00am, there was a line outside & the restaurant staff made everyone wait outside until 9:20am before letting everyone in. The waitress forgot to serve our 4th family member's order. Our food tasted like it was cooked on a filthy grill....YUCK! read more

Let me just say the food sucks, everything. The enchilada sauce tasted like a canned sauce. The rice was super dry and tested old. As a Mexican person I feel offended for the type of food they serve. read more

I came here yesterday with a group of friends after spending a long morning exploring the island. We were all pretty disappointed with the food but also the customer service. Everything except the decorations was below par and I ordered a torta that was really a sandwich. The fries were decent but everything else was soo bland. Also they really used a French bread! I'm sure at one point this place probably really good but maybe they changed management sometime or something. I highly do not recommend. The other reviews are generous read more

Landed on the island and the kids were hungry. We were looking for a place which would offer flavor and some spice. We picked Mi Casita as the place we would get some lunch. The place was busy even during the off season. Finally we were able to get a table. It took while and finally we had to ask for someone to take our order. The server was polite but forgetful. We had to keep reminding her to bring stuff we had asked for. The food tasted good but not great. Prices were high but I guess that's what you pay for being on an island. The kids had a good time We ordered the Calamari which seems like they got it out of a frozen box and deep fried it. What a waste... My tacos were so so and they were skimpy on the rice. The burritos were ok but I guess they could do better with the food. Overall it's an ok place to dine. read more

Pro Tip: come here just after the 9am ferry. It's a short walk further than the other restaurants so it's way less crowded! I ordered the burrito with shredded beef and it was really delicious, very filling, and quite large! I also had Horchata and coffee, both were really good. If you like Horchata, this place's was awesome!! I ended up asking for another cup to combine my Horchata and coffee and I wish they had something similar on the menu. It was so delicious. Only downside was no refills on coffee. They had awesome breakfast options so it's good any time of the day. read more

Came to this restaurant on our one day trip and was extremely disappointed. Host was extremely rude and clearly hated her job. Bathroom was dirty and had a broken toilet paper dispenser. Ordered a fountain drink and when I received it there was no flavor/not enough syrup taste. I asked the waiter for a new drink and he said "Oh yea i forgot to mention the soda machine is broken." Once we place our order we never saw our server again until 1 hour later when he asked if we needed anything after an HOUR of waiting for our food. When we asked where our food was He replied with "oh let me check" and still didn't come back for another 20 minutes. DO NOT come here. I wish I could give 0 stars. read more

Excellent food! I ordered the tostada and the chicken was excellent. My dad ordered the chicken fajitas which he loved and my husband ordered the breakfast burrito which he said was great. I highly recommend for anyone staying or visiting the island. read more

Great service stopping in for a bite and drink before heading back to the mainland. Their tacos were delicious as well as their huge side of refried beans. Got their spicy watermelon margarita 18oz...big drink and it was delicious. Sit upstairs facing outside for a beautiful city view and can see the ocean. Lovely atmosphere! read more

The worse Mexican Restaurant I have ever visited: The service: horrible, the "host" and the servers were like MAD: not friendly at all. The food was absolutely horrible. The Mexican rice was so dry, the kids "taquitos" were hard as a rock like if they just fried an old Tortilla. The beans were salty. Overpriced: a fountain soda the size of a Toddler with the little cup filled with ice for almost $5 dollars? $120 bill for trashy food. Portions small. Just not a good experience over all. read more

It's still COVID-19 season but they have an upstairs open air patio where they allow you to eat. I love the decor and it has that perfect old school colorful Mexican decorations throughout the inside and outside. Different servers kept coming to our table. We finally ordered from a waitress our food and two different margaritas. The guacamole with chips that we ordered were devoured quickly. The drinks were strong and the spicy watermelon margarita had a kick. read more

Love this place. The upstairs patio and decor is just fantastic! You feel like you are vacationing in Mexico. It is walking distance from where the ferry drops you off so that was another bonus! I recommend the pazole and the carne asada burrito. Those are both very flavorful.. and don't forget about the free first chips and salsa. Ooh ohh goner... Probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. I had a day trip planned for Santa Catalina Islands. I just finished parasailing and was starving. Stumbled upon this place for lunch and found that the service was AWFUL (hence the docked stars). I couldn't get anyone to help us once we were seated! I had no idea who our server was since there wasn't someone dedicated to our table. I had to flag anyone that looked like they worked at the restaurant to get my order and any kind of assistance. Luckily, the food was amazing! Great service and the breakfast was sooo good. The upstairs outdoor patio is super cute. We ordered chilaquiles and it was delicious. The chips and salsa also very good. This place serves breakfast past 11am (unlike most other restaurants on the island) Mi Casita serves breakfast up to 12p and although we came past 12p they honored our desire for breakfast, which we appreciated a whole lot since we couldn't seem to get up early enough to catch breakfast by 11a at other spots. So thank you again for being so accommodating and also being great hosts! read more

It was on the bland side. We had to request a fresh batch of fries because they were stale, cold, and flavorless. - Linguine with Littleneck Clams 2/5: This dish was terrible. Overcooked noodles. I will say they did include a good number of clams but the entire dish lacked flavor. They could have used a quality butter for the noodles. I added two slices of lemon and that helped a bit but overall I would not recommend this dish. There are other items on the menu that I'd like to try and with Avalon having such limited restaurants, I would give this place another try for maybe the ceviche and taco dishes.

It's located right on the water and in the center of all the activity Catalina has to offer. I like Bluewater because it's a safe option for larger groups and has enough variety that everyone can find something to eat. There were a few of us so we ordered beer, virgin coladas, regular coladas, calamari, fish tacos, fish and chips, a Caesar salad, and of course had several servings of their delicious sourdough bread with whipped butter. We were seated right up front on the water and under umbrellas so we didn't burn in the sun. The food came out at a nice pace with our favorite being the calamari. I enjoyed the mix of peppers and calamari. The fish and chips were good, though one of the pieces seemed a little rubbery and I thought it might've been the way it was cut before fried. We hung out for a couple of hours since it wasn't overly busy, were taken well care of by the staff onsite, and enjoyed the views and our meal.

The pasta was also a bit overcooked and tasted pretty ordinary--nothing particularly special or memorable. If you're visiting the island, I'd recommend this place for the atmosphere and ambiance. But if you're hungry and looking for really good food, I personally wouldn't recommend it. That being said, our server was very nice and attentive. In fact, it was probably the best service we experienced during our time on the island.

We had lunch today 7/13/2015 at Mi Casita, we went there purposely today because a birthday and we had been there in the past and were amazed with everything when had the time before when we had visited. Unfortunately today wasn't so great. We get there party of 5, they take us upstairs seat us at a table, a man who would help the server brings us chips and salsa and then let's us know our server will be right with us. Awesome thank you we say. :) No one checked in with us for about 20 minutes for drinks because our server was busy at the bar taking a shot with the bartender and a customer she then comes over to us and asks is we would like anything to drink. We brush it off and order our drinks. She comes back with our drinks asks if we're ready to order but as she's talking her eyes are rolling back a little like maybe she had one to many shots before we ever got there for lunch. As we're waiting for our food she is at the bar this time fanning her self and wiping the sweat off her face with her hands, moments later she is making a drink for a customer she had apparently put to much ice in the glass she then used her unwashed hand to take some ice out of the glass and put it back in bin it came from. She never came back to our table after taking our food order. We had to stop a different server for any refills. It was all really a disappointment and sadly don't think we will be back to this resturant again :( read more

Me and my girlfriend have been to this place. And we faced completely rude hostess that told us that she absolutely cannot seat us in front of the window because this place was for bigger party and we sat inside of the restaurant on ugly table 10 minutes later we found out that she gave this place to other couple. It's so rude and completely unfair. We faced intolerance against us. They didn't even tried to say sorry and give us another table for big party against the window they kept saying that this place is for big tables. DO NOT COME THERE this place is fucked up. read more

Good food but horrible service. WILL NOT SPLIT CHECKS! And very mean attitude from servers. That's if they even stop and talk to you. Our server had the meanest attitude, reminded me of the Sinefeld episode: "No Soup for You! Tried to complain to manager but they would not give us his whereabouts or contact info. On top of that they automatically add gratuity for large party although I thought a new law changed that. Bottom line is good food but don't count on service, unless they change staff. read more

Been eating here for a long time but we will never again after getting food poisoning from them, me and my husband got terribly I'll after eating here before our boat ride back and were sick all night. Service has never been the best, but they usually accommodate our large groups, and today they did get our large party food in enough time to meet our boat, but afterwards some said the food wasn't that good today and then getting food poisoning, I'll take my business elsewhere read more

What a fabulous place to eat picked up there hot sauce too. We also brought home two Chile Wines lite and dark. I advise people to go there and have lunch or dinner there, hats off to the owner love to meet him and work security for him on Santa Catalina Island. read more
