    Coyote California Burrito
    Marcela F.

This is a small Mexican restaurant located in the Avalon area of Catalina Island. Service is prompt and friendly. Place was clean. Outside tables available. Albóndiga Soup was delicious. The California Burrito was ok but needed extra flavor.

EXPENSIVE & really bad tasting food. I should have read the reviews first, unfortunately I didn't. One taco was $8 & the "carne asada" did not taste like beef. It was bad. Even something as basic as the bean & cheese burrito was bad tasting & it was $21!!!!! Choose another place save yourself

Celebrated my birthday on the island and ate dinner here - Ricardo was my server. Was very rude and did not make us feel welcome. He kept serving the outside faster than us. So we finally ordered & went outside. He also didn't hesitate to give us the check while we were still eating and came to check if we paid I told him we are in the middle of eating (hadn't ate all day) and we weren't ready. Others outside/inside didn't have the check, only us. Overall, not a welcoming experience.

What happened to my review? The place has the Mexican vibe without the a true Mexican tastes. Terrible rice, terrible beans . The taste was like they opened up a can of beans and poured it. The rice tasted as if someone who has never made Mexican rice followed a recipe for the first time from a a gringa on YouTube. Four dollar Water BOTTLEs. Long time to wait for bad food and very expensive, even for Catalina. Pass this place and go somewhere else.

The drink is mid and the shooters were even worse. I probably wouldn't come here again.

After a long day we came across this bar and grill. The decor was nice and they offered indoor and outdoor seating. We were seating fairly quick however it did take a while to place an order for drinks. We got chips and salsa with guac and I ordered a wet shrimp burrito. The guac was fresh and had great flavor and the chips tasted like they were freshly made in house. The burrito itself was very flavorful. The salsa gives it a good spice but also a ton of flavor. Very generous portions I left with a full stomach.

Horrible service and the food even worse. We asked for a side order of mole sauce and the waiter brought us tomatoes sauce.

Staff seemed to give us the side eye while being jovial with others; not sure what prejudice they had against us. Normally I can forgo blank stares, but I expect a little more when I'm in a tourist area. - Wiki Wacker Both tropical fruity and alcoholic at the same time. You get a hat or sticker with it, and we weren't asked which one we preferred. The strength is similar to a long island, due to the mix of rum and brandy. Decent blend that had a pretty light to deep orange gradient, and an extra pineapple slice. We had fun with the straw hat, so it's fine that fate declared we receive this souvenir. - Buffalo Milk I preferred this drink over the Wiki Wacker, but I can see some people not being into it. It tastes like a creamy nothing. I liked it because the flavor was very, very subtle; it was like an icy, subtly creamy, subtly banana, subtly bitter smoothie topped with whipped cream and nutmeg. Nothing about it has buffalo in it. I would get this again. To sum it up, theming is nice and drinks are aesthetic, yummy, and effective. I love the wide open windows for the natural light and breeze drifting in, and if you're seated near the front, you can people watch.

The restaurant/wine club is very quaint and has lots of character. We were greeted by the host who immediately seated us in the club room. There is lots of seating indoors and outdoors. Our servers, Brandon and Sienna, were excellent. They were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. We started off with a couple of glasses of white wine, which were recommended by Sienna, and the Mezze Board, which was an excellent pairing of harissa hummus and honey lavender whipped feta, served with pita. This was so good, we actually ordered another one to take home. For our main course I ordered the ribeye steak and my wife ordered the tiger prawns. Both were incredible. Each dish was perfectly cooked, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. We finished with a slice of basque cheesecake which was amazing. I was able to meet Chef Esquibel and let him know that we totally enjoyed our dining experience and would soon become regulars. A must try in my opinion.

They have a nice interior build-out with a huge wine bar, but it was a nice evening and we elected to sit on their spacious patio. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by Sarah, who is the bartender and also manages a couple of nights a week for the owner. Sarah is super friendly, explained the menu and provided great table service. They have a large wine selection. My wife ordered a chardonnay and I stuck with an Arnold Palmer. We ordered their bruschetta appetizer, served as six pieces of toasted bread and the expected toppings. It was a perfect start to our meal. We were not super hungry, and selected a three-cheese charcuterie board. You are able to select your cheeses, and Sarah again helped us make our decision. It was perfect for a summer-weather afternoon (although in March) and we chatted, had our drinks and picked at the board until it was gone. During our meal, Sarah was very attentive to our needs. My wife tried another chard, and we ordered their banana dessert, which had great flavor and was a nice end to the meal. This is a great place to quietly enjoy some wine, beer and food. They have a good sized menu and offer a brunch menu on Sundays. (Diane, Sarah needs a bonus, she made the evening much fun).
