This was where we met up with our group at the end of a fun excursion from our cruise. It's a nice little spot with covered outdoor seating and live music (though the guy disappeared after ten minutes and never came back lol). The woman at the counter was nice and we got our chips and salsa and drinks that were included as part of our excursion with no problems. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty and the drinks refreshing. However... We ordered tacos separate from the excursion and after waiting almost 40 minutes never got them. It seems like our order was lost or given to someone else. We did get a refund, but it was frustrating and disappointing. We ended up just going back to the ship to eat. The food we did get was good, but we never got our tacos. For that reason we wouldn't come back on another trip. read more

We didn't get food here, mostly just got some drinks and sat and chilled for a bit. It's a block from the waterfront, so it felt chiller, and there seemed to be more locals. The drinks were fine, but expensive, and they were advertising half off beer, but it was only for Budweiser. We did encounter Vern, who was playing some live classics on his Takamine 12 string, which I was looking at with some envy. It was a fun time. There was also the coolest dog who was just chilling there while his owner disappeared for lengths of time. On a nice day with live entertainment this is such a fun to hang out and just relax. We drank beers all afternoon and watched Vern play his guitar and sing. We also had breakfast their burritos the next day (chorizo) and they were great. The burritos or large there. Best Happy Hour on the Island!!!!! This is a hidden gem. Happy hour is awesome with Mai Tai girl (Lucinda) making the best drinks and Antonio making the best Baja Tacos I have had since Rosarito. The band, "Catalina Cruisers" during Happy Hour was incredible playing 70's and 80's music. Vern, the singer and guitarist week in along with Eric on the drums, Rafi on Bass and Cindi on the cello made our week in Avalon. The only negative was they had to stop playing at 7pm because of Avalon neighbors. Don't miss this bar and restaurant. read more

What you see is what you get. It's located in a parking lot, a block off the boardwalk and across from the County offices. It gets ALL sorts of customers - great people watching. There is only outdoor seating, so plan accordingly. The staff, while not overly friendly to this tourist, was efficient and quick. Note: they are open until 2:00 am. We shared a taco; see my pic of their taco menu and my taco. There is actually a piece of breaded fish in there. The fish filled the taco, was lightly breaded, very hot and was flaky. As you can see the greens were fresh and crisp. I think the sauce was mayo based with a bit of heat. This can't be said for the side of hot sauce. It was quite hot and a dab added sufficient heat. If you have a case of the munchies, or want a quick beer, this may be the stop for you. read more

We liked this place we so much we ate here twice in one weekend. The asada nachos were so good. My husband had a michelada and liked it. I heated up the nachos I had left the next morning and they were still good. I get asada everywhere and it was soft and not grisly here. I would definitely get it again! The best things about this fast casual Mexican place / taco stand is the full bar and life music daily. It opens pretty late everyday even when most other bars are closed. We have never ordered food here but the drinks were decent enough. We liked the draft beers and strong margaritas. If you want a very casual and relaxing vibe this is the place to be. Came here after hiking the 25 mile transcatalina trail, all sweaty, dusty, and blistered. We picked this place because it had outdoor shaded dining and a decent view of the street to look for others coming from the interior of the island. We got there a little after 2pm so there were special discounts. I got a margarita for half off ($5.50, regular price $11) and chicken tacos for $1.25 each (regular price $2.50). I think if I had paid full price for either of these I would have thought this place was a rip off, but during happy hour it was a good deal. I thought the food tasted pretty great but I'm sure almost any restaurant would taste great after hiking 11 miles that day. My friend got the chips and guacamole and the chips were those really thick chips that hold the guacamole very well.
