ONLY chicken tacos were $1.50 during happy hour (2-5PM). They didn't state it on the sign! The chicken tacos were still good though and definitely most affordable food on the island between 2-5PM . Ill eat as much taco as I can here because everywhere else is so expensive! If it rains, you only get slight cover though. Its not an indoor restaurant.

Came late at night. Absolutely delicious food. We ordered tripa, pastor, carnitas and shrimp with spicy salsa. Everything was made fresh to order and authentic. Loved it. When I come back to visit, I'll come here again

The chicken burrito was delicious, came with beans and cheese inside along with cilantro and onion. Served with tortilla chips and salsa as the side. My fiancé ordered 1 Carne Asada taco, and 1 Fish taco also served with chips and salsa as the side. She enjoyed the tacos very much. Service was fast as well.

Great service, I recommend the Buffalo Milk and Asada Nachos. They were very attentive to us and its calm open air seating.

SO good. definitely hit the spot and was worth the price, especially when splitting with a friend. fries were crunch and the meat was juicy & not dry. very solid 9/10, would highly recommend this place since they're super nice and also open late!

Pacifico's and fireball go down smooth at this place.

On a nice day with live entertainment this is such a fun to hang out and just relax. We drank beers all afternoon and watched Vern play his guitar and sing. We also had breakfast their burritos the next day (chorizo) and they were great. The burritos or large there. Ps the line can be long at times but this is a place to relax and take in the vibe.

Best Happy Hour on the Island!!!!! This is a hidden gem. Happy hour is awesome with Mai Tai girl (Lucinda) making the best drinks and Antonio making the best Baja Tacos I have had since Rosarito. The band, "Catalina Cruisers" during Happy Hour was incredible playing 70's and 80's music. Vern, the singer and guitarist week in along with Eric on the drums, Rafi on Bass and Cindi on the cello made our week in Avalon. The only negative was they had to stop playing at 7pm because of Avalon neighbors. Don't miss this bar and restaurant.

What you see is what you get. It's located in a parking lot, a block off the boardwalk and across from the County offices. It gets ALL sorts of customers - great people watching. There is only outdoor seating, so plan accordingly. The staff, while not overly friendly to this tourist, was efficient and quick. Note: they are open until 2:00 am. We shared a taco; see my pic of their taco menu and my taco. There is actually a piece of breaded fish in there. The fish filled the taco, was lightly breaded, very hot and was flaky. As you can see the greens were fresh and crisp. I think the sauce was mayo based with a bit of heat. This can't be said for the side of hot sauce. It was quite hot and a dab added sufficient heat. If you have a case of the munchies, or want a quick beer, this may be the stop for you.

Quick spot for tacos and beers on the island. Busy spot and pretty great for people watching. Fish tacos were fried crispy (not soggy)

Visited Catalina Island for the day and found this place looking for something to eat for lunch. They offer $1.50 tacos and half off beer for happy hour (2-5pm) so we decided to check it out. The tacos were amazing we ordered the carnitas, birria, pastor, fish, and shrimp tacos and they were all great (birria was the best). Service was great and it felt like a local establishment and not a tourist trap. There was also a local artist playing music in the plaza that added to the ambiance. This place is great for quick and delicious food if you're not a yuppie.

Super cheap tacos during happy hour ($1.50 per chicken taco). Heavily recommend coming during happy hour to grab a few tacos for a great price and solid food.

Pretty good reviews, close by, saves us from driving down the hill... sounded perfect. Yeah... wrong decision. Drinks: My husband ordered a margarita and instantly pulled an ant off the rim of the glass. Okay... it happens. He tried to let it go. Then he noticed a dark winged critter sitting at the bottom of his drink... it was a fly. I told him to bring it to the server's attention. When he did, the server looked confused, like he didn't see anything. Then he said, "I can make you a new one or you can just finish drinking this..." Finish drinking a margarita with a fly in it. That should have told us everything. Food: I ordered the carne asada plate. Seasoning was fine... honestly passable... but the cut of meat was the cheapest, chewiest carne asada I've ever been served. My husband ordered the tri tip plate. It was just bad: * Bland meat * Raw broccoli * Bland mash * Thick, chewy slices of bland "tri tip" To be fair: Our server checked on us when he could. He seemed genuinely trying... but it looked like he was playing chef, bartender, and server all at once. Total recipe for disaster. No one can pull that off. I ate what I could because trying to navigate the island late at night for food isn't ideal... but this meal was a letdown from start to finish. Bottom line: Steer clear. Convenience or not... we won't be back. Not for dinner, and definitely not to give breakfast a chance.

ORIGINAL JACK'S COUNTRY KITCHEN @ CATALINA ISLAND…read more Parking is available right out front, especially if you have a golf cart, so it was super easy to find parking. My family and I came here on a Saturday afternoon after taking the ferry from Dana Point and we were seated pretty quickly. Unfortunately, we were seated right next to the bathroom, so there was constantly a line of people passing by our table the entire time we were eating. We ordered a couple of different items. I ended up getting their turkey bacon club sandwich with french fries, my mom got the tuna club sandwich, and my brother ordered one of their breakfast plates with waffles, eggs, and bacon. They do charge for water, but I think that's pretty common throughout Catalina Island since most places serve bottled water. The food came out within about 15-20 minutes and it was honestly pretty decent for what it was. You really can't mess up a turkey bacon sandwich, but the bread was crispy, buttery, and super good. I also loved the french fries they were super yummy and probably my favorite part of the meal. My mom's tuna sandwich was also really delicious, although both sandwiches leaned a little salty. I kind of wish they included a small side salad or lettuce with the meal, but overall everything was still really good. The service was pretty solid, especially considering how busy the restaurant was with people constantly coming in and out. The whole place has a very diner-style, old-fashioned vibe to it, which honestly fit the island atmosphere really well. Overall, I'd definitely come back here if I were visiting Catalina Island again. Solid food, quick service, convenient parking, and a classic diner feel. Definitely a 5/5 overall experience for me.
