Went to Mi Casita and did a takeout so we can eat at home. Soooo, we get home, ready and excited to eat, and they gave us the wrong food. Called them, and the supervisor said that was what we ordered, and it was not. He refused to do anything about it. We spent $64 and left a tip for the ass who took the order. 2nd time coming here...nothing much has changed. 1. Parking is adequate. No problem during this visit. 2. You get treated and asked how many are there in your party and showed us to our table. 3. The best thing I really love here is that carafe for the and individual little saucer for the salsa. I still think that's bottled salsa though. 4. THE GOOD The food is probably the closest thing to authentic Mexican that I've had in the area. I've spent nearly half my life in Arizona and California where they know how to make good Mex, and this wasn't bad. The "hot" tamale was only hot temperature-wise, but some hot sauce fixed that. The taco was tasty and the chips (which came quickly) were warm and crisp. The salsa was a little mild for my taste but again: hot sauce. THE BAD That said about the food, I won't be going back for two reasons. The first is the establishment's attitude toward its customers. There are drink cards on the bar that say, "We make our drinks to industry standards. Once served, there will be no adjustments or substitutions." Let me bust that one wide open. I've worked in the industry and THERE ARE NO "INDUSTRY STANDARDS" except that bartenders are not allowed to serve people who appear to be intoxicated. Some restaurants pour 5 oz. glasses of wine while others pour 6 oz. and some are also offering 9 oz. "long" pours. Liquor can be 1 oz, 1-1/2 oz. or sometimes 2 oz. Some bars/restaurants charge 50 percent more for a "double" while others double the price. So trying to hide behind the "industry standard" language is total B.S. What they're really saying is, "If you don't like it, too bad." No responsible restaurant operator acts like that. If a guest doesn't like something, it's swapped out without question or adjusted to their taste. After all, THEY ARE THE CUSTOMER and without them, the restaurant wouldn't last very long. The attitude of "take it or leave it" makes me extremely angry, which is too bad because my servers were very attentive and helpful. Too bad management isn't taking their cues from their servers. THE UGLY The second reason, in a word, is "kids." Kids in the bar. The reason I choose to eat in the bar is the adult atmosphere. While I was seated at the bar, a family came in and was seated for dinner. WHY THE BAR? What was wrong with the main dining room? In some jurisdictions, it's illegal for anyone under 21 to even be in the bar area. Adults only in the bar, PUHLEEZE! THE CONCLUSION The food was pretty O.K. and my servers were good, but given all the other stuff, I won't go back. If none of that bothers you, good on ya! But it does me, so I'll be eating elsewhere. No complaints about the speed of service or about the taste. Place was also clean and aesthetically pleasing. No one speaks English well here. If they tell you on the phone that there is an outdoor eating area, they are either lying or do not understand what you were asking them. Restroom hot water will scald you. Maybe the best atmosphere and sevice in town. Beautiful decor and friendly waiters that are eager to please. What brings it down is the food is just average. Many dishes are bland and uninspired. Tonight, we went to MiCasitas for the umpteenth time because my husband likes to eat there. Personally, I find the food rather grigo-fied, but it's pleasant enough and everyone's always given us excellent service. Our cocktails arrived and they were really good--peach margarita is excellent--and my husband's aunt (we were out for my husband's birthday) ordered a ribeye steak. When it arrived, I thought it looked odd. It was two flank steaks on top of each other, very thin. She took a few bites, and when the waiter showed up, she told him that it had a lot of gristle in it. He did not take note. She gave some to my husband, and he said the same thing. He had ordered the steak that comes sliced up, so it was good--always is. My aunt asked for her money back. They gave her an incredibly hard time. Said she had eaten it. Gave her $5 off a $14.95 dish. Then told her they'd give her half off. They didn't get that right, either. She had to talk to three different people. She is the nicest woman I know. I have never seen her complain at a restaurant, ever. The pushback they gave her was ridiculous and not worth it for them. We had a $90 ticket. They could have taken a $15 refund and still made a good profit. My fish and shrimp--the shrimp was great, but the plate was not what was pictured, much smaller, and talapia was quite fishy. I am speechless. I haven't been to Mi Casita in nearly 3 years, constantly talking crap about the sub-par mexican joint that all the honkeys just rant and rave about. Yes, I was even offended when someone offered to take me to lunch at this establishment, knowing that they thought that low of me....It hurts my pride, but I most certainly have to take it all back. Well nearly all of it. Me and a few co-workers decided to give the brightly colored restaurant a try once again, and I'll be damn if I wasn't the happiest I've been since my first wife left me! I'll admit, I saved up a hunger looking forward to at least smashing some chips, and I was not disappointed!! Service was great, attentive, all them fancy dining words you high-class yelper wannabees use...it was all the above. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of my meal. I would have been tempted to rate her at 5 stars but that's going to take an enjoyable dinner meal and some killer margs for me to budge on that one. Excellent service and very clean restaurant. The food was what you would expect for the price point. I had the enchiladas, my husband had the fajitas, and we ordered queso. The salsa was very good. I love Mexican food. I'm a taco junkie. I figured this was going to be like all the other "authentic" restaurants. I am so glad we stopped in. My 2 tacos were excellent. They never got soggy and they put plenty of toppings. Usually at these other places you don't get but a minuscule amount of tomatoes. I was shocked at the quantity. My husband ordered the steak tacos. He said they were really good. The place was clean (it was 2:00). They were steadily cleaning up which is nice especially during lunch time. Authentic, I think not. Authentic tacos are served on corn tortillas not a flour one or at least offered the choice. The top shelf margarita was less than top by taste and was more mix and salt. Do not go within an hour of closing. 1. The server will not want to serve you. 2. The kitchen will straight up not make items you order. 3. When they forgot to bring something out it will be 15 min. Before they return with it, at which point you have almost finished eating. 4. They will charge you for the items they don't bring to the table. We stopped here for dinner while driving through MS on our vacation. This restaurant was terrible. Being from Texas and having access to good Mexican food, this place does not meet the criteria. I ordered a plate with a tostado and they said it came with beans, lettuce and tomato. Well it was more like a plate full of beans with some lettuce and tomato on top. it was like I had a pot of refried beans on my plate. The other items that we ordered were not good either. One of the others in our party commented that if she had to pick something that was eatable it would have been the tortillas. Not that they were excellent, but they were at least eatable. Someone at another table ordered queso and it looked like a bowl of white water. EEK. And our bill was $59. We barely ate anything and feel like we wasted our money for sure.
